I really enjoyed this one, the relationships for me were key. Watching a brother and sister reunite. Watching a mother and daughter grow closer. And being with the cast of characters during a summer an island was icing on the cake. The characters, the setting, the storyline all good. I wish I had read this one sooner.

I ama big fan of Meg Mitchell Moore, have been since The Islanders. She did it again, a wonderful summer “beach read” full of family drama and summer fun. While reading you can really feel like you’re on Block Island which I really enjoy.
Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC,

A gripping page-turner following a family of actors, Summer Stage brings the drama both on and off the stage.

Amid strained relationships and complicated secrets, Amy, her brother Timothy, and her daughter Sam all find themselves on Block Island for the summer, working on a production for the island’s storied theater. As they work together to ensure the play is a success, Amy, Timothy, and Sam are forced to grapple with their desires for recognition and fortune, stand up for what they believe art and fame actually mean, and discover what they really want out of life.

A great Summer read about a family of actors who come together to put on an amazing play one summer in Rhode Island. Moore’s writing is pick and funny. A page-turner perfect for summer.

This book made me so happy! Just such a nice easy read about family. Liked the modern TikTok element. Felt it was slow for the most part, and a bit disappointed for the ending of some of the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed the newest beach read by author Meg Mitchell Moore. Having read all of her previous books and enjoyed them, I was a little hesitant about this story revolving around a Tik Tok influencer and the production of a summer play on Block Island - but the story comes together beautifully. Set in Rhode Island and involving family dynamics and drama, both past and present, this is another great book to throw in your beach bag. Thanks to William Morrow and NetGalley for an advanced copy.

Amy and Timothy are brother and sister and have family drama just like many other families out there. An opportunity arises on Block Island that may allow some mending of the fences between them and bring the family closer.

Many characters such as Amy’s daughter Sam and Timothy’s famous ex-wife are entangled in the storyline and they all play important roles. I love the way the story plays out and always feeling like I wasn’t sure what would come out of the next chapter.

This is a great beach/summer read and gives you all the feels as you are reading. I always look for satisfying endings and this delivers.

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the ARC of this book.

I knew before I even started reading this one that it was going to be exactly the kind of book I needed in the middle of the summer. It had all the makings of the queen of the beach read, Elin Hildebrand, and it did not disappoint! I loved the varied perspectives and getting to experience Block Island as both a local and a tourist. I loved getting to see the way the relationships between the characters developed too, especially when you're able to view the relationships from ancillary characters, like Joy from the bakery and her daughter.

I also loved how Block Island took on the roll of a character as well. I loved the inclusion of modern and relevant elements, like TikTok and creator houses, mirrored by the traditional elements brought to the table by Timothy and Gertie. For that reason, I believe ANYONE could find something to love about this book and a character to relate to. This is one I will recommend to anyone!

I really enjoyed this book. It's nice when you can read a book and not have a ton of drama. It reads so easily, and it’s the perfect summer read. Not much romance but more family saga than anything. A second chance for several characters and an awakening for another. I would definitely recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

I am so excited for a new Meg Mitchell Moore book! I’ve enjoyed many of her previous books. Summer Stage takes place at a Shakespeare summer production in Block Island, RI.

Timothy is a big Hollywood actor who misses his RI hometown. After his ex wife and still friend convinces him to fund and help produce a Shakespeare play in just a few weeks at a dilapidated theater. He knows he needs help from his little sister, Amy. She lives locally and knows many people. Her daughter is home for summer after rushing home from NYC. Sam and Amy have grown apart after Sam decided to go into acting like her uncle.

The countdown to the show is on! Only a few weeks to prepare the theater, hire the cast, build sets, and market the show all over the East Coast. It’s fun to see the three family members try to work together after so many years apartment. They are all trying not to hurt feelings and step on toes, but they really just need to open up to each other.

This book made me want to check our Block Island! I’ve been to Rhode Island many times, but I’ve never made it to Block yet. Next Summer!

Thank you so much to @megmitchellmoore and @williammorrowbooks for my gifted copy. Summer Stage is on sale now!

Another fun summer story by Meg Mitchell Moore.

A little slow starting, but after the introductions and things get rolling it's a fun, easy summer story. Lots of characters, but easy to follow and the theatre production theme was entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

Meg Mitchell Moore's books were recommended to me by my favorite summer author, Elin Hilderbrand. I love when women support each other. So when Hilderbrand posted about one of Moore's books on instagram I knew I needed to check her out. I was thrilled to find Moore sets most of her stories on the east coast. Though I am a mid-westerner I love a good story set in Maine, Cape Cod, or Nantucket.

Summer Stage follows several members of a family involved in putting a Shakespeare play on Block Island, Much Ado About Nothing is one of my favorite Shakespeare works and that is what they choose to do. Sam is a former child star and also famous on TikTok. Only things have gone horribly wrong online for her so she's trying to hide from the world back at home. Her uncle, Timothy, is an aging movie star looking for a new project. His ex-wife has a producer for a summer run of Much Ado About Nothing, but needs a director. Timothy agrees and talks his sister, Amy, into being the production manager. Amy is Sam's mom and she and Sam are having a rocky time in their relationship.

Moore does a wonderful job of weaving the characters in and out of each other's lives, while also giving the reader backstories of how they all got to where we meet them. As a bonus her readers are treated to updates on characters from her book the Islanders.
If you enjoy stories with multiple viewpoints, different generations coming together, set on a summer island getaway you should check this one out! If you haven't read the Islanders this book still works as a stand alone, but I recommend both books.

Entertaining summer read. This family drama centered around a play on an island had different pov in each chapter. It reminded me a lot of an Elin H book with the writing style. I had a hard time keeping track of characters. There were a lot so thankful this was written in 3rd person.

A good beach read, Summer Stage deals with family relationships as well as the impact of social media. Sam is back home after a disastrous TikTok event has caused her to withdraw from all social media. When given the opportunity to join her famous actor Uncle Timothy on Block Island, Sam jumps at the chance and finds herself assisting with his revival of Much Ado About Nothing. Sam’s mom, Amy, is a high school teacher who desperately wants to find out what happened to Sam, while also harboring a grudge for her brother, Timothy. The descriptions of a summer on Block Island and of the revival enhance the novel. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I love a beach read and when you add in family drama you get books like this! I loved the setting, the characters, and everything in between. Meg Mitchell Moore can do no wrong in my eyes and I'm always excited for her to release a new book. This one should be in everyone's beach bags this summer!

Amy, a former playwright, has agreed to help her famous brother Timothy produce a play close to her Rhode Island home. Amy becomes the production manger. Amy's daughter, a former Disney child star, has been spending her time in a TikTok house. But she has suddenly left and returned home unwilling to talk about why she suddenly left the house. As they work together to ensure the plays success, they each have to address their desires for fame, and what they believe art to be. They in turn, discover what they really what out of their lives. .

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. Meg Mitchell Moore is the queen of beach reads and this one is one of her best! A multigenerational story told around a small town production of Much ado about nothing. I loved every minute and every page!

I have read all of Meg's books and I probably this after reading her newest book but I will say it again.... I feel like Summer Stage is my favorite book by Meg to date! I loved everything about this book, the characters were amazing, the story was beautifully written.

Summer Stage is like watching a play in an atmospheric island locale. The book has heavy themes of family, and second chances. There are many strong female characters who do not need males in their lives to help them succeed, and that is a refreshing story line in a beach read for sure. I really enjoyed the relationship between young Sam and her Uncle Timmy, a famous producer. The pacing was a little bit on the slower side, but in a character driven novel, that is okay. Worth the read.

This was a tough one for me to rate.

I love theater and I adore Much Ado About Nothing. So a book set around the premise of a family coming together (some famous, some not so famous) to pull off a production on an island in New England in the summer sounded fabulous.

And to my little theater heart, it was. I loved the references and backstories and just the general joy of being on a stage and putting together a show.

However, to my book-loving heart, the book left a little something to be desired. The characters were the caricatures you'd expect in this type of book--the philandering actor who messed up his marriage, a beautiful female movie star who's trying to figure out what she's going to do when her age starts to show, the young one who would be perfect for the role, but doesn't want it, the mom who was involved in theater but chose the smaller life and hasn't done anything with it in 20 years.

The gang is all here. And it wouldn't be bad if the plot had some sparkle. But it's pretty basic too (no spoilers, but if you think "ohhhh, I think I know where this is going," you do.) I don't need all of my books to have twists and turns and unpredictability. Tropes are tropes for a reason and we do love them. But if all the characters and all the plots are tropes, the book can still be enjoyable, but not anything special.

And that's why this was a 3 star book for me--enjoyable, fun theater time, but overall, not anything particularly unique.

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for an advance reader's copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
