Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin is so lush and engaging. It is a superb story that feels almost out of time. The book follows Tana Fairchild who is the daughter of some prominent witches who live on this island. Across from the island is where the non-magical people live — on the mainland. There is a tentative peace between the mainland and the island, so long as the witches limit their magic to parlor tricks and cast excess magic into the sea. Tana is about to firm up the peace even more by being promised to the governor’s son Landon as his future wife. Unfortunately, one day, she misses the casting of magic into the sea because she bumped into a mysterious stranger and so is scared she’ll die because she didn’t get rid of her magic. However, that stranger, is member of a hidden coven that coexists on the island. Now, Tana is questioning everything she ever knew.

This was absolutely a me sort of book. I enjoyed the world building and how it was parceled out. It was so interesting learning about the magic and the two covens. Also, in the beginning it feels like Bring Me Your Midnight is set in the 1800s but then it mentions electricity and light bulbs and that had me thinking okay I can’t quite place the setting. I also liked that Landon was actually a nice guy and not a terrible person even though Tana was not into him. Wolfe was so fascinating to me — I found myself drawn into his way of life and the history of his coven. I think if you want a magical vibe, you need to read Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin. I know that now I’m feeling very apt to pick up her other books.

Rachel Griffin can do no wrong.

This is the third book by this author that I’ve read and loved. The fantasy is light enough for me to enjoy and not get too tied up trying to understand a ton of details. Griffin always builds her magical structures around nature, and while you’re reading you’re just like, sure this could totally happen. Because it easily and naturally makes sense.

There’s a romance thread, Tana’s life is planned out for her, and she’s accepted her fate until she meets Wolfe. We love an angry forbidden love interest 😂.

There’s magical perfume and magical tea. All the wonderful witchy things.

Also, my favorite kind of fantasy, a standalone novel. The whole story wrapped up in a neat bow.

I cannot recommend this author’s novels enough, I’ve loved every single one of them.

If you prefer audiobooks, the narrator for this was phenomenal, I highly recommend listening.

Thank you @sourcebooksfire and @Netgalley for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

"He is magic, a spell I will practice over and over for the rest of my life. I am bewitched, every part of me."

"I like the way I look when touched by nature and slightly disheveled, a person instead of a painting I’m afraid of messing up."

THIS BOOK. I adore Rachel. She's a magical human being who writes magical stories dipped in atmosphere and romance. I can't wait until her next release.

Thank you NetGalley for the early copy!

I 100% picked this book because of the cover and it did not disappoint. It was witchy and magical. The main character had to choose between what she's been taught and what she thinks. This book begs the question whether or not everyone should have access to information or if those in charge should control the information given. What freedoms should be given up for safety and when the individual choice effects the whole should they be able to choose? The relationship between Tana and Wolfe is central to the story, but i found myself even more invested in the relationship between Tana and her parents and Tana and her best friend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

I have enjoyed everything that Rachel Griffin has written, but this is my far my favorite. It is the witchy romantasy that I didn’t know I needed in my life. It’s so ROMANTIC and whimsical and you can really feel Tana’s deep connection with the ocean and the world around her. I like that their are modern day touches with the mainland culture, mixed with ancient magic through the covens.

The writing style is absolutely exquisite, and made it easy to be totally immersed and lost in the story. Her relationship with Wolfe is not easy and they face so many obstacles together (the memory part just broke my heart 💔), but it made the ending so much sweeter in my opinion. I also love that Rachel Griffin’s books always have a theme of appreciating nature and the world around us, and practicing good stewardship of our earth.

This book just makes me so happy and I can’t wait to read what she comes out with next.

If you are into forbidden love, magic, and enemies to friends novels, then this is the right book for you.

Very well developed and exceptionally well written. I have to say forwardly, I love that the romance of the novel did not overshadow the plot. Instead, it weaved in seamlessly and beautifully.

Was absolutely in love with Tana, the main character. I love the way she came to fruition and ultimately, a strong minded person who doesn't cower to what others want or say. Adore the conversations between Wolfe and Tana from the beginning to the very end and seeing how their relationship grows.

In Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin, Tana lives a life that has been planned for her since the moment she was born. She is betrothed to the governor’s son, and Tana must marry him to secure the alliance between the mainlanders and the witches of her island. Tana goes along with this until one midnight she misses a ritual and puts her life at stake, forcing her to turn to Wolfe, a man who supposedly practices dark magic. As Tana learns more of a magic that makes her feel alive, she must choose between her love and her duty.

This is not the first book of Rachel Griffin’s that I have read, so I was very much looking forward to this one! As in her other books, Griffin managed to construct a story rich with wondrous nature and magic, and a heroine that you will instantly fall in love with. Reading this book I could easily picture myself being on Tana’s island. The descriptive language throughout was just wonderful.

Tana’s story brought tears to my eyes, and Griffin skillfully made me love this book more as each page turned. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves YA fantasy, especially ones with romance!

This book is out now! ✨

Bring Me Your Midnight, by Rachel Griffin, is a YA standalone fantasy following a coven of witches living on an island with only a small stretch of sea separating them from the mainlanders who fear and seek to control their magic. Tana, the daughter of a prominent family in the coven, has been arranged to marry the governor’s son to establish an alliance that would mean security and protection for her fellow witches. When she meets a boy who practices the “dangerous” magic she’s always been taught to shun, she must question how much of herself she is willing to sacrifice for the sake of peace with the mainland.

This is a very solid YA standalone fantasy. It’s a compelling story about Tana deciding whether it’s really worth it to sacrifice her own happiness and personality for potential peace, exploring questions of staying true to oneself and making one’s own choices that are undoubtedly appealing to a YA audience.

Tana’s story and personality arc is extremely well done—this is fundamentally a story about her own self-discovery, and Griffin paces that plot extremely well. There is no sudden shift from dutiful daughter to empowered witch—instead, the reader is able to see Tana gradually growing into herself, wavering along the path in ways that are believable and relatable. I wasn’t expecting this to be such a strong coming-of-age story, but was pleasantly surprised at the emphasis being placed on that plot line over the romance.

The romance between Tana and Wolfe felt like the weakest part of the story to me. It’s a forbidden-romance trope, so anybody who enjoys that will probably like this element of the plot. It just feels very insta-love to me in parts, and in some cases felt like it detracted a bit from Tana’s character arc. It wasn’t horrible—it was a very okay YA romance—but it was far from the most compelling part of the book.

I would have liked a little more worldbuilding, but overall am content with the amount of information we’re given. Griffin tells us exactly what we need to know for the plot, and, for a standalone fantasy book that has only a limited amount of page time to give a full story, that is a good choice that helps the plot and character development to take center stage and develop fully. However, I couldn’t help but be curious about the wider world of the story, even though I recognize that the relatively limited scope was overall beneficial for the book. Similarly, the magic system was exactly what it needed to be for the plot, but I still would have loved a little more information about it.

Overall, I really enjoyed Bring Me Your Midnights. I’m giving it 4 stars, taking off one star for the weakness of the romance. It’s a wonderful standalone, demonstrating a care for character growth that you don’t see often in YA fantasy, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody looking for a witchy YA fantasy.

I have loved Rachel Griffin's past work and this one is no different. The atmosphere for this book is absolutely immaculate, Perfect for the summer to fall seasonal change with a coastal town and cozy magic, but also a forbidden romance and dark magic creeping throughout the story. I felt like I was actually at the sea while reading this story and just could not get enough. The only thing I did not love about this novel was the pacing. I thought it was very cozy but lulled in middle of the story. All that was happening was the main character, Tana, was thinking about love interest Wolfe, even though she knew they couldn't get together. Overall, this was a great fall, witchy read!

So it took me probably about 15% before I was officially hooked into this book because it's definitely a slow build but I absolutely adored it! I really loved her other book Nature of Witches and this gave me similar vibes. It's very atmospheric and beautiful. It's not super fast paced but once you get invested it keeps you going. And I absolutely loved the romance.

There are parts that had me anxious but not too anxious. And I love how it all played out. It was a very delightful story! It made you feel like you were right there by the sea. A beautiful setting to a wonderful witchy tale. The audio format was great too!.

Deeply romantic. Incredibly atmospheric. Beautifully written. So basically a Rachel Griffin novel. If you loved her other books like I did, you’re not ready for this one. It turned out to be a delightful and cozy page-turner that had me completely engrossed. Thanks Rachel!

I loved the sheer beauty in this book. The way it brought nature and the sea to life was magical and utterly enchanting. I am always constantly impressed by how Rachel Griffin brings these magical worlds to life in her novels. I devoured this book with its lyrical prose and compelling characters. I do wish we got to see more of the history and lore, but it certainly felt like a real, lived in world that we were stepping into.

Bring Me Your Midnight is a wonderful and fresh look at witches and magic. The main character and her development may be occasionally obvious, but is no less interesting. This novel is compelling and you won’t want to put it down! An enjoyable read for all who are interested in worlds of magic.

Perfect for teens into magic, fantasy, and dark magic- which is very different from regular magic. I can see teens pick this up after they've enjoyed The Cruel Prince.

Another great witchy love story from Griffin. I love that all of her stories are about young women discovering the power inside themselves.

"That's the problem with dreams: they are so easy to get lost in and so very difficult to give up."

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for sending me an advanced copy of Bring Me Your Midnight in exchange for an honest review.

Bring Me Your Midnight centers around a teenage girl named Montana "Tana" Fairchild, a witch who lives on a protected island and practices what is known as low-magic. Her entire life has been planned out for her since the moment she was born: marry the governor's son, Landon, and secure the protection of her island and everyone on it. Every twenty-nine days, at the full moon, all of the witches that live on the island, known as the Witchery, perform the rush, a ritual when all witches release the excess magic in their system into the ocean. After Tana misses the midnight ritual- a fatal mistake- she has no one to ask for help, until she meets Wolfe, a mysterious witch who practices the forbidden magic.

This book was so beautifully written and incredibly atmospheric! The descriptions were so lush and gorgeous that I could imagine that I was actually on the island. I loved every moment of this book, especially Tana's relationship with Wolfe as well as her best friend, Ivy. This book is extremely character-driven and sometimes books suffer from too many characters and Ms.Griffin very carefully developed each and every relationship throughout the story.

Overall, I would give this book a resounding 5/5 stars and would recommend it to any reader who enjoys witches and magic!
