What a fun, magical read for the summer. If you enjoy a bit of romance, magic, and a little witchy business, you will enjoy this enchanting tale Rachel Griffin weaves for her audience. There’s always something so satisfying with a forbidden romance, especially when the main character is more or less betrothed to one person and then the person you just KNOW they are destined to be with comes along. I think my only real critique is that it really is a YA romance, it’s not a true grown mature love. But I am not even sure if that is a critique or not. Sometimes you just want to be able to escape into a love that sweeps you off your feet and lets you believe that anything can happen and that no one’s fate is sealed.

Whimsical. Romantic. Fantastic world building. Rachel Griffins never disappoints. I adore witchy things, and books are my favorite. I can’t wait to read more of Rachel Griffins.

This wasn’t my favourite Rachel Griffin novel, but I still really liked the world building, the characters, and Griffin’s signature style. The way the characters interacted with the elements and the magic system was really cool, and the presence of the natural world as an independent character, like in Griffin’s other books, carried this book. For some reason I never really got fully invested or fully immersed in what was happening; this might have been because I was expecting a complete modern fantasy, when this felt like it was on the edge between high fantasy and modern fantasy. Bring Me Your Midnight was definitely enjoyable and I will recommend it alongside Griffin’s others, because it was still a very compelling read even if it is my least favourite of her books (so far).

This book was romantic and whimsical and full of beautifully crafted world building. I love witchy books, and this felt like a breath of fresh (sea salty) air. I loved this book as an end of summer, early fall read. I don’t think I will stop thinking about these characters for a very long time.

Mortana?
MORTANA?
Okay. Wait a second. Was I the only one that thought this was a terrible name? It made me evoke images of a mortar and a pestle most of the time, and if not, it made my mind travel back to Mordor LOL.
Now, on a serious note, I've been following Rachel Griffin since she published The Nature of Witches, a book that I deeply loved in every aspect. However, her second book, Wild is the Witch, felt more directed towards very young audiences, the story felt rushed, and overall I was left with this sense of failure in the development of the novel overall, and now, with Bring Me Your Midnight, a novel I've been super excited for since its announcement and with so much buzz coming from readers and Rachel herself on instagram, I can only say that I AM UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED.

It took me less than four days to finish it, and since the beginning I felt no connection whatsoever with the main character nor the rest of the side characters. I didn't really like Tana, to be honest. She is the main character, a 19-year-old girl, and therefore, you're supposed to connect with her, understand her motives, feel her emotions... None of that happened. In fact, I felt she contradicted herself at times or that she didn't make any sense at all. I really disliked her mother for obvious reasons, and Tara herself admits that her mother keeps breaking her heart, however, she still perceives her as some kind of celestial being that she wants to keep pleasing. That was, honestly, very annoying.
When Tana needs to question her mother and her coven, she delays, delays, delays, and the moment Wolfe is told to tell her the truth, she rages against him.
I read a review from someone saying that they also found it very hard to place the story in a timeline, and I agree with that. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be happening in the present or in the past. *confused*
There was not really any tension in the book. If anything raised it, whatever the problem, it would be solved by the end of the chapter, so it was hard to keep my interest in the story.
The relationship between her and Ivy, her best friend and "love of my life" didn't feel like that at all. It was just a relationship and I don't see how any of it would help them grow or affect their decisions they made throughout the story.
The dialogues were also very childish. They didn’t feel natural to me.
Overall, a very frustrating novel. Very sad because I really loved The Nature of Witches and ever since I’ve been eagerly waiting for Rachel’s new books, but they have both been disappointing. I feel like Rachel tells but not shows...
I’m not sure if I’ll be reading anything else from her.

Rachel Griffin never disappoints. I think Bring me your midnight might be my favorite book of hers so far.

At first, I wasn't liking it that much, Tana's mother's actions and Landon's constant presence made me very uncomfortable but from the moment Wolfe first appeared the book improved a lot for me. From the first moment Wolfe and Tana meet, the foundations of all of Tana's beliefs are shaken and she begins a journey of self-discovery.

Bring Me Your Midnight is at its core, a coming of age story about a girl who is bound by duty from the moment she was born but slowly begins to discover that there may be so much more to her than just marriage and stability.

I loved this book. At first I wasn't impressed but as Wolfe and Tana keep running into each other at midnight and Tana finds out more about her magic and how powerful she is, I started to like the book more and more.

This is a book full of angst, love and growth. It's an atmospheric book with an incredible tone and eerie vibes that keep you fully immersed in the story.

Bring me your midnight was a lovely read about being able to shape your own path and not let others do it for you.

The writing is so fantastic, incredibly atmospheric and magical. The romance does exactly match up with the feel of the story, it’s a bit of a let down in comparison. I do look forward to reading more from Rachel Griffin as the writing was just so good.

This book was AMAZING. When I read arcs, I try to write notes along the way to leave a thoughtful review...but that didn't get to happen. I was so engrossed in the book and read it in one sitting, which I can't remember the last time I did.

The word building and character introductions were smooth and a good place. You could feel the personalities and emotions of every character, and there wasn't one I didn't connect with! The story moved along as a good place (there were no lulls), and it felt very wrapped-up and satisfying at the end.

I definitely plan on reading other books by this author.

Captivating and beautifully written, I enjoyed this so much. The storyline and plot was great, and the characters enthralling. I kept turning the pages and couldn’t hold still while reading this, it was that enjoyable!

The author did an incredible job on illustrating the world building and the magic, as well as the atmospheric setting. The romance was perfectly written, so sweet. I’m so excited to pick up more books by her!

What a captivating and beautifully written story Bring Me your Midnight was.
I really enjoyed the storyline it was well paced and will keep you turning pages well past your bedtime.

The magic and lore was a slow release to compliment the plot and it worked really well with the characters development, all learnt from their experience and acted accordingly and the setting was well explored, the author did an amazing job of building a world that complimented the magic system, the use of elemental magic was beautiful and atmospheric.

I found the romance in this book sweet and endearing and the parent/child relationships complex but loving, a great balance of characters that fit well with the world and difficulties/prejudice that each encountered.

I have heard many great things about Rachel’s Griffith’s writing and starting with this one has really encouraged me to continue exploring their work.
If I had one criticism it’s that I could see where the story was heading but it made for a relaxing and enjoyable reading experience for me.

Expect tropes such as ‘the chosen one’, enemies to lovers/forbidden love and to some extent a found family vibe.

Thank you NetGalley and SourceBooks for allowing me to read and review this book! I devoured it! If you liked 'A Discovery of Witches' or 'Practical Magic' this book is for you! Mortana has been raised to be the savior of her coven and to marry a mainlander to ease the fear of others and protect her people. Her whole life she's lived on an island called the Witchery with her coven that practices light magic, infusing perfumes and teas with small spells.

Mortana was ready to marry a man she hardly knew and had no feelings for, until she meets someone who she thought didn't exist. "My life has been mapped out for me since the day I was born. This is my role - keeping my coven safe by cementing out place among the mainlanders. It's a role I'm proud to play, even though it isn't up to me."

There's another type of magic, Dark Magic or High Magic as he calls it, that works with nature. She discovers a whole new world and new way of thinking about magic that empowers her, for the first time in her life, to think about what she wants to do. This book had my heart aching for a girl with a lot of responsibility resting on her shoulders and the desire to do what SHE wants to do.

"He is my daylight, my sun, my hours spent practicing magic."
"He comes alive in darkness, so darkness I become."
"She opened herself up like one of my grimoires, and I read every page, every sentence, until she became my favorite book."
"I have my own story, one that's been written since the day I was born. And something tells me that if I were to read his, it would become my favorite. So instead, I go home and continue to live out the pages my parents have already written for me."
"Let me love you until you're sure it's magic."
"Hoping that he knows that, to me, he is magic. A spell I will practice over and over for the rest of my life."

What a fantastic read, I loved reading this book. I was hooked from the very start and read it so quickly too!

A 4 Star ready for me!

I am firmly in the camp that if Rachel Griffin published her grocery list, I would read it. She writes so beautifully. I'm not always a huge fan of lyrical writing but Rachel does it so well that I will absolutely read it without complaint. To me, that's the sign of a brilliant author. I loved the magic systems described in the story and how they all played a role in the environment.

Tana's mom made me grumble, Tana herself was a typical teen who makes bad decisions based on her own wants and needs (relatable), and Tana's dad was amazing. Wolfe's family was awesome and I also liked Ivy and her family. This is the perfect book for a chilly rainy day wrapped up with a blanket and a hot beverage.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Fire for early access to the book.

Setting this one aside for now. It has beautiful atmospheric prose but I somehow am having a hard time reading the book. Will pick it up again later

Forbidden magic, a mysterious boy, family secrets, and a love that would crash into her life like the waves that she dives into. Mortana Fairchild is a witch, she lives on an island that is home to both witches and mainlanders who think witches are a threat and in order to maintain the alliance her marriage to the governor's son, Landon, will secure the alliance between witches and mainlanders alike. Tana's life has been planned all along and she's been raised to put duty and her coven before her own happiness... yet on a mysterious night she meets a strange handsome witch named Wolfe who will shake her foundations and beliefs in everything she was raised to, starting with the fact that he practices high tide magic, or what she was lead to believe was dark magic and that the deadly flowers her mother told her about is actually note deadly at all. Tana and Wolfe have a connection despite the fact that they are from opposing covens, they find themselves constantly drawn back to each other, but the more time they spend together the more Tana is beginning to realize that her coven's secrets and her own family's secrets might not be worth sacrificing everything, particularly her own happiness because Wolfe makes her want to be selfish for the first time in her life. Yet Wolfe has his own motives, and when his secret gets out, it might destroy the blossoming relationship between him and her. Can Tana decide what path to follow: her duty or her heart? Will she marry the governor's son or the boy who has crashed into her life? This was such a captivating and wonderful story. I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel and hearing her talk about how she wrote Tana and Wolfe's love story to be a bit like Morticia and Gomez, completely fits. I adored this boo so much, it just captures you and sweeps you along and you feel yourself entranced until the very end. It's a lush atmosphere, a gorgeous love story, and just so beautiful!

I saw so much hype for this book, but the cover and the synopsis left me underwhelmed. Before I bought a copy, I thought I'd see if I got approved for an ARC on NetGalley. Lo and behold I was --

And I learned quickly why they tell you to never judge a book by its cover. This book was SO GOOD, and I will most definitely be buying a physical copy, and I regret waiting so long to read it.

For some reasons I got siren and mermaid vibes from reviews I read, but this is all nature magic, largely based in water for the main character, which is *right* up my alley. It's a fascinating magic system, with twists and turns that are not easily predictable because they don't draw from classic magic tropes. Even the eventual "resolution" of the main love arc had me surprised, in a way that I loved.

Please, don't let the cover or some reviews mentioning sirens turn you away. It's a really excellent book, and I'm so glad I read it.

A romantasy featuring witches! Tana has to decide between love and loyalty. She feels like her life is planned out and her coven expects everyone to release their magic into the ocean during full moons. Tana meets Wolfe and begins exploring darker elements. Everyone has to make important choices.

Rachel Griffin is a master storyteller, her poetic and intricate storytelling create the most beautifully atmospheric reads! Bring Me Your Midnight, might be my favourite release of hers! ( and that’s saying a lot since I adored her other books! )

I hope you all love this one as much as I did 😍
