Bring Me Your Midnight is incredibly engrossing. I seriously could not put this book down until I was done with it (it did take me all day and I felt like it was only a few hours). It was incredibly detailed with the world building and character personalities. It was a great read.

<b><i>"I like the way I look when touched by nature and slightly disheveled, a person instead of a painting I’m afraid of messing up."</i></b>

Rachel Griffin has such atmospheric and beautiful writing that really draws you into the world. I felt like I was on the cozy, witchy, island of the Witchery. Tana is caught in between duty and following her heart, and she learns that the rules she was taught to operate her magic on her whole life are not what they seem when she meets a boy named Wolfe. Wolfe helps Tana explore the wilder and more powerful side of magic, and in the process they develop feelings for one another. I thought the aspect of releasing magic to become more palatable to the non-magic users, but then that magic having dire consequences for the environment to be an interesting premise. Overall, this was a really enchanting and atmospheric book!

Thank you NetGalley for gifting me this amazing book!
Bring Me Your Midnight is a truly captivating fantasy book. I read it in two sittings and couldn't put it down. The writing was engaging from the first chapter and the story keeps building and building.

Tana lives in a small island with her coven, directed by her mother. She loves the island, but mostly she loves the sea. She feels in her element when she is in contact with the water and will do anything to protect her world.
Unfortunately, even with Dark magic being banned and Low Magic being the only one available to the coven, the mainlanders are still scared of witches and being stronger in number are a direct treat to everything Tana cares for.
With the surname Fairchild, and her mother at the head of the council, Tana has always had her path layered down for her. Merry the governor's son, Landon, and start an alliance with the mainlanders.

But on the night the coven was supposed to pur her excess magic into the ocean like every month, Tana misses the ritual, fearing for her life and needing to turn to the only persone she shouldn't to. Wolfe.

Tana is a strong character. She loves fiercely, is intelligent and driven, curious and respectful. I completely get her struggle throughout the book, with everyone around her laying and keeping secrets. I would have exploded.

Wolfe is stormy, mysterious and gentle. He is everything Tana should be afraid of, but he is also the one who will open her eyes.

Chapter 31 had me crying. My stomach was in knots and I felt every bit of pain and heartbreak Tana did.

For me this book was amazing and I will start recommending it to everyone I know ❤️

This book is a mesmerizing fantasy tale that weaves a spellbinding narrative in a beautifully crafted world. The story introduces us to Tana Fairchild, whose life has been meticulously planned from birth—she is destined to marry the governor's son, Landon, in a bid to secure an alliance between her island's witches and the mainlanders who view her kind with suspicion. But Tana makes a fateful mistake one night by missing the midnight ritual, an act that leaves her vulnerable and in need of help. Enter Wolfe, a boy from the old coven that practices forbidden dark magic, who becomes her unlikely savior. He refuses to let Tana's magic be lost to the sea and introduces her to his own brand of powerful, forbidden magic. The transformation is palpable; Tana feels alive and empowered in a way she never has before. But it is forbidden and her path is destined. How will she be able to choose between what her mind tells her to do vs what her heart wants.

The setting of this book was nothing short of beautiful, immersive, and whimsical. Griffin's ability to create a vivid and magical world on the Witchery, with glimpses of the mainland and Wolfe's side of the island, left me thoroughly enchanted. The worldbuilding was very original, striking that perfect balance between intricate detail and clarity, making it easy to immerse myself in the story.

One of the standout aspects of the book was the magical system. I adored how Tana approached her magic with respect and reverence, recognizing the profound link between her magic and the nature. Griffin's exploration of the magic's history and its various elements added depth to the narrative, making it a central and captivating element of the story.

I loved Tana's character development throughout the story, especially in her relationships with other characters like Wolfe, her best friend—Ivy, her parents, and even Landon, was a joy to witness. The evolving dynamics added depth to the narrative, making me emotionally invested in their journeys.

The plot, while generally engaging, had a bit of a slow start. It took some time for me to become fully engrossed in the story, but it did pick up after the initial chapters. My main concern was that the conflicts were resolved a bit too easily, lacking the angst that would have made the story more gripping.

The romance was a significant part of the plot, and I appreciated its development, especially between Tana and Wolfe. Both characters were well-fleshed out, adding complexity to their relationship. It was heartening to see how their love story led to self-discovery and personal growth, delivering a powerful and empowering message. Their relationship was beautifully portrayed, offering healing and growth for both characters as it progressed.

Rachel Griffin's writing style was absolutely beautiful and I loved the book's core message of breaking barriers and paving one's own path in life. It left me feeling empowered and inspired 💖. This was my first book by her, and I'm eager to explore more of her works.

When I tell you Rachel Griffin can do no wrong…

This book was so insanely beautiful, cozy, and atmospheric. I loved every second. I just want to go live on this island with Tana and her coven.

Rachel Griffin will forever and always be an auto-buy author for me.

I am sad to say this book just did not work for me. This is my first book by Griffin and I truly have heard from many others that they loved it. I felt the beginning and halfway into the story that this was truly settled in the YA genre (and no problem with that), but felt very ordinary. Not bad, but not outstanding. The main character, Tana, was painfully naive and not exciting. She stumbles upon a boy named Wolfe who was more interesting and kept my interest in reading on. Once I got past the half-way mark, it started declining for me. The writing would shift between early YA to much older YA with heavy cursing being used followed by ultra dramatic despairing scenes. I wish the writing would have picked a lane (I'm really fine with either!) and stuck to it. It also contained some of my least favorite tropes in the back half of the book. This is rather spoilery, so I won't be listing them in the review itself.

Ultimately, this just wasn't my cup of tea. I enjoyed the witchy vibes and the cult-like vibes the story offered, but it never quite got off the ground and I did not find the characters to be overly likeable or enjoyable.

I am impressed with how Rachel Griffin can write several books that all feature young women who are witches, yet make each of them different. One creates a spell that is carried off by an owl and she has to retrieve it before it is too late. Another has magic that can actually affect the Earth's climate. And then we have <i>Bring Me Your Midnight</i> with its coven of witches who have exiled themselves to an island off the coast and maintain a fragile peace with those who live on the mainland. Tana's engagement to the son of the most powerful family of mainlanders should cement the truce and keep everyone safe, but there will be a price. Can she give up ties to another who has made her feel alive and powerful for the sake of the coven? Is the coven hiding dangerous secrets even from its own members? Whom should she trust with her heart and her magic?

The descriptions of how working with magic makes Tana feel, as well as the pull between her and the character of Wolfe make it easy to believe that her choice is a difficult one. Especially with her intended husband so sure that it is a marriage of convenience and benefit with no need to worry about hearts and messy emotions. The effects of the Surge of magic from the coven on the waters surrounding their island seem to parallel the effects of human activity on the climate. Will any of the leaders make the right choices to prevent further damage, or continue with the status quo? At times it was hard to turn the page and discover the answers along with Tana.

For those who enjoy romance, mystery, and magic all wrapped up in a complicated bundle of conflicted loyalties and desires - this is your next read.

I loved all of Griffin's books so far but this one is best so by far; I tell she put all her heart and soul into this story. The story is a fantasy but at the same time it is so relatable, a forbitten love story, family obligations and saving the land and ocean you feel is a part of you. It touches on difference of people and what we don't understand scares us. But when we have common goal, can we look beyond the differences and come together.

If you read anything this fall, read this, it will break your heart and make you want to be better and fight for yourself and things you love.

Tana's fate has been planned the moment she was born, she is to marry the governor's son, Landon and secure and alliance between the witches of her island home and the mainlanders who see them as a treat. Just when she has come to terms on what she needs to do for her family and the people she loves, one boy named Wolfe will change everything and open a power within herself that she never knew she had.

But when the tide changes and she must choose between love and duty to her family and the home she loves.

Lush fantasy set on an island of witches. Tana loves her life on the island she calls home, the only safe haven for witches. Nearby is the Mainland, where magic is still somewhat feared. This is despite the fact that Tana's coven renounced dark magic years ago, and now solely uses it for little things, like magical teas and perfumes. Tana has always known her destiny was to be married to Landon, the son of the governor of the Mainland. Their marriage will forge a bond between their peoples, providing the safety that the coven has always yearned for. She's proud to marry for duty, hoping it could lead to love. That is, until she meets Wolfe, and he opens her eyes to the truth of their magic, and to what love could be. Tana will have to choose, to follow the path that's been set for her or to break out and into the unknown.

I sped right through this one. Absolutely loved the magical island setting, with nature as the basis for the magic system. Tana was a great protagonist. She loves her family and her home, but once her eyes are opened to what her magic can truly do, it's impossible for her to accept less. Great relationships all around: Tana and her parents (though there are some lies to get past), her friendship with Ivy, and of course the romance with Wolfe. Gotta love a forbidden romance! Overall, this was a fantastic read that I would definitely recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

5/5⭐️

I have loved every single Rachel Griffin novel and this one is no different. She writes YA light fantasy perfectly! I really enjoyed the main character and found her family dynamic interesting. Some of my favorite stories entail a young woman finding her way and how that affects those around her. I will 100% continue to read anything Griffin writes.

This is the first book I've read by Rachel Griffin and I loved it! With a healthy balance of magic, ocean currents, romance and mystery, I felt this book was perfect in every way. Griffin casts a spell with her beautiful writing and has the reader fully invested in Tana and Wolfe. I was immediately intrigued by the first chapter and found this take on witches interesting. This book is a great example of how everything does not always happen as planned. Life can throw you a curve ball and in this case, his name is Wolfe.

I looked forward to reading this book and every time I wasn't reading it, I kept thinking about it. From the magic to the secrets and the meet-ups on the beach, I loved it all.
A perfect book of witches doesn't exist? Then you haven't read Bring Me Your Midnight yet!

The cover of this gorgeous book is what originally drew me to it, it's one of my favorite book covers of all time. All of Rachel Griffin's books are gorgeous and this was the first one I've ever read. It was beautifully written, the setting was amazing, the romance was *chef's kiss*. I devoured this book within a couple of days. I loved the magic system and the darkness it had to it, I've never read a book with an element quite like that before. This book actually brought me to tears a couple of times with its gorgeous writing and parts of the plot. I can't say enough good things about this book and I'm so excited to read her backlist titles now.

This one didn't really work for me. There's so much potential with the world building and the political situation, but instead we are forced to watch our main character whine around and having such an acute case of insta-love. Our main character, Tana, was very sheltered, selfish, and gullible, feels entitled to know because she's daughter of the leader, but doesn't want to pull the weight of her duty. As it was romance heavy, the side characters and world building ended up very under developed despite the potential.

I am going to be honest, I like the idea about this book and I think it started off good but I DNF'd it. I couldn't get past halfway. I am to really sure what it was about it that I didn't like but it just did not hold me.

Rating: 3.75/5 stars

Ok this book really had me hooked after the first few chapters and I genuinely enjoyed it as a whole. Overall magic system was just enough and easy to follow along with the plot and gave it such a nice cozy feeling. I did feel as if the ending was a bit rushed and could've been lengthen in some way, somehow maybe?

This book is going to start my witches era! Tana is a low tide witch, with her life long planned out. Wolfe is apart of a coven thought to be long gone. But when they meet, their paths both change. This is a great story and I will be getting this book asap for our high school library!

I like how the vivid imagery of Griffin's writing envelops the reader in a witchy quest of a girl who honestly encapsulated the free spirit vibes while also giving us a witchy tale, romance and the tension which I think was great. I hadn't read her writing before until I read this one but I definitely hope I see more witchy tales from her :)

Sadly, this book ended up being very disappointing. I was looking forward to this book based off the premise, but I don’t think the author lived up the full potential of what they promised.

Tana is a young witch living in a witch colony off the coast of the mainland. Ever since she was young she was promised in marriage to the son of the mainland’s governor. She has grown up knowing the plan for her life until one day she starts to question everything.

This novel was painfully slow causing me to pick up it and put it down every couple of chapters. I kept thinking something was going to happen, but it never does. The characters also felt very two dimensional and flat. I would have liked to see more world building and character arcs.
