I dont really read romance a lot, but i enjoyed this book so much!!!! I LOVE Northanger Abbey and this retelling does it so much justice, it is so fun and easy to read, really really enjoyable!

I thought this was going to be a ghost story, but instead it's even more interesting! Our heroine hasn't shown her true self since losing her father. She puts on the face of a super daughter, super student, and super friend. The only person who sees her is her little brother. That is until our hero steps into the picture.
Our hero is a ghost enthusiast. He is thrilled to attend a 'haunted high school.' Will he see a ghost? Or will he help our heroine confront her own ghosts?
Excellent Book!

The premise of this book is exactly up my alley. Northanger Abbey retelling? Eerie setting at a "haunted" private school? Ghost-hunting MMC and skeptical FMC? A recipe for success, I'd say. However, the promised vibes were not delivered.

The FMC has no friends and 2/3 of her family members are absent and suck. She has a little brother. That's it. But of course the author tried to do a redemption at the end when none of the side characters earned it. I hate it when characters don't have a support system and it doesn't make any sense why they don't.

The book didn't deliver on the ghosts. I thought there would be some. Nope.

The romance was cute and the setting was really cool. It could be great, but got lost in family relationships and friendships that were ignored for most of the book. I would be interested in reading more from this author in the future.

This book is so YA in the best way, in that the characters really do feel like teenagers! The MC is dealing with the grief of losing her father three years after his death, and when a ghost hunting new kid interrupts her senior year, she finally starts to open up and confront the things she’s been avoiding. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to more of these books from Amanda Quain!

I’ve only read Northanger Abbey once, and I’ve barely discussed it with anyone, so I’m not even 100% sure it’s pronounced “north-hanger”! I liked this book anyway.

It is definitely a loose retelling; there’s only so much that can substitute for a mansion, in-universe Gothic novels, and a bunch of marriages and engagements. Hattie was mostly likeable and believable. Kit seemed rather more larger-than-life, but I suppose that fits the dynamics of the original novel. I don’t read modern romance novels, so I found myself a little bored when the romance came into the forefront, but it was solid until then, and it ended thoughtfully.

I don’t know any Northanger Abbey lovers to recommend this to (or not), but if you like Jane and you like YA, you might like this book.

I’ve never read anything by this author, but the plot of this sounded very intriguing so I thought I’d give this a go. Also, I’m writing this review a month or so after I initially read it, so my memories on this book are a little hazy.

All I remember was that, I enjoyed the school setting, and I thought the main character (whose name I also don’t remember) was a tad annoying.

Overall, this was a fun time when I read it, but I never felt strongly connected to the story or the characters to even remember it in a year from now.

I really loved this retelling of Northanger Abbey! Kit and Hattie were so well-rounded that it didn't take long to fall in love with them both. The romance is so sweet and earnest, but I really liked that Hattie's journey through her trauma takes center stage, and that the reader gets to experience that with her. Side characters all read well, and the plot feels whole. Looking forward to more!

I loved the idea of this, but sadly the writing style never drew me in. I think this could be fun if you are interested in ghost hunting adventures though. It's been a minute since I've read Northanger Abbey though, so I can't speak to how well this story functions as a retelling though.

This book was not at all what I thought it would be. I think I got more than I’d bargained for in this coming of age story. I thought I was getting a sweet quirky high school rom com but had to put the book down for several months when grief was thrown in. The book in itself is well written and the main character Hattie was very relatable. Albeit I’ve been out of high school for over 10 years I could feel the real fear and pain Hattie felt in not measuring up to her mothers high expectations. I wish I hadn’t sat the book down for as long as I did but I think In a way I was morning my younger selfs ambition and falling short of those goals. Life isn’t always linear and sometimes you have to learn to accept the change in trajectory and make the most of it. Hattie is a senior in High school and coming to terms the past four years of her life have been spent in a ghost of a shell of what she thought she had to be in order to survive. The death of her father has left the family shaken and broken so she has put it on herself to be the glue that keeps them together. To make matters worse her mother is very emotionally unavailable and dedicates her waking hours to her job as headmistress to Abbey High and the only real support Hattie has is her two best friends though she does mention a lot the friendship feels more “transactional” than genuine. All that could mean less to Hattie once she begrudgingly befriends the new boy at school, slowly but surely he starts to bring her out of her shell. There’s a lot of elements to be unwrapped in this novel but what really stood out to me was Hattie’s relationship with herself, her academics, and her mother. I think people will find different things to relate to in this book and will see it as either a teenage rom com or something much deeper than that as well.

I found this book to be a cute little read, albeit a bit slow for me! Hattie was a bit difficult to relate to, but the characters around her were interesting & entertaining. I enjoyed seeing the changes, especially in the family relationships throughout the book & the opening up to emotions & belief. Overall I would give this one a 3.25 & would recommend it, especially to a younger audience.

This is such a cute YA book. Perfect for the Halloween season. A great modern take on a favorite classic. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't just a fluff book and did have some depth to it. Dealing with family relationships, death of a parent, and school friends. Just a good read.

What a lovely follow up to the first book. I love this concept of retelling classics but from the POV of non main characters. This fleshes out the world so much better.

I loved Ghosted. I am incredibly picky when it comes to YA retellings of classical novels/stories, even when they're less retellings and more inspiration, just because I tend to be critical of the necessity of retellings. However, Ghosted was fun, fresh, and was the perfect balance of homage and novel.

In the spirit of the upcoming spooky season, I requested this arc to review and was bored out of my mind! I hate leaving bad reviews because I feel like if a writer is published, they've clearly got talent. It's not you, it's me. I don't know if I was expecting something different or I was distracted, but I just couldn't get into this one, and it took me forever to finish. I can't DNF to save my life, so I was in it for the long haul.

So basically, it's about a reputed haunted high school. Hattie Tilney (main character) doesn't believe in ghosts. Her dad did, but then he died, and if ghosts are really real, then why hasn't he come back to visit her? New student Kit Moreland is determined to prove her wrong. They get partnered up on an investigative project about the school's paranormal activity, which Kit is all for, but Hattie plans on debunking all reports. Maybe Kit will get her to change her mind?

It is spooky season and this book is giving the vibes.

This is a YA reimagining of Northhanger Abbey by Jane Austen with Northanger Abbey being a high school. Kit Morleand has just arrived on a scholarship and paired with Hattie Tilney on a journalism assignment to hunt ghosts. Hattie used to believe in ghosts until her father's passing, but maybe Kit can get her to believe again.

I like how the author has written the plot and the characters. The characters were enjoyable to read about and their situations relatable to anyone who went to high school.

While this is YA any Austen fan would enjoy it.

Once again, I read a contemporary retelling of a “classic” without having any idea what the classic is about. This is listed as a gender-bent contemporary retelling of the Jane Austen book, Northanger Abbey, and I honestly can’t tell you if it is a good adaptation as I have no idea what Northanger Abbey is about. I can say that this was a fun read, with enough growth from the characters that it was enjoyable (since I found the main character a bit unsufferable at times), and the idea of ghosts is always fun. Nothing about this book sticks out to me, either negatively or positively, so take that for what you will. It was an easy enough read, and I am glad I did, but I don’t know if I will continue with this series if that is what it ends up becoming. It works fine as a standalone, it wraps up nicely, and it does what it needs to do. Maybe it is because I don’t know the original material, but it just didn’t completely hit the spot for me. It was a nice book and I am glad I read it, but I don’t feel inclined to read it again.
