I know this book isn't going to be for everyone, but if you appreciate a messy love story with sizzling tension, all-consuming heartbreak, and loads of angst, this is a winner! Absolutely gripping from the start, I loved following Maggie throughout her years of musical aspirations, romantic relationships, and dreams of becoming a mother.

At very different points in her life, Maggie Vine made the same marriage pact with two men. And now at the age of 35, Garrett and Asher are simultaneously back in her life. But who is the right choice? With multiple timelines and flashbacks threaded throughout, you're kept guessing until the very, very end.

I will say, Maggie did not end up with my preferred guy. But a well executed love triangle is my guilty pleasure in the romance genre, and this certainly delivered. It's filled with sadness and trauma, but also laughter and hopefulness—I simply couldn't get enough.

A sweet, easy romance. Fans of the "if we're both single at 35..." trope will enjoy this one! It started off a bit slow for me, but by the middle, I was thoroughly enjoying this one.

I love the marriage pacts that kids make and I love even more that this is a story about following through with that pact. I will definitely recommend this to everyone.

3-3.5⭐️s.

Wasn’t my favorite, but was still cute. Maggie is an aspiring singer who made a marriage pacts with two different men during different times in her life…if both were still single at 35 they’d get married. Turns out, both men show up (in very different ways) and now she has a decision to make. The story involves more than just a romance, Maggie dreams of becoming a mother, which ends up playing a semi-large role in who she ends up with. I was definitely cheering for one guy the whole time and thought the ending was fine. Wouldn't be at the top of my recommend list, but was still enjoyable.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an early copy of the book in exchange of a honest review.

I wasn't too invested in the beginning but then the story captured me and I was rooting for the H/H and the book ended nicely

Second chance love with a love triangle...sign me up. I really enjoyed reading this one. Who has felt the chokehold of time at a certain age? Well I have and at 35 Maggie did as well. Not only is she turning 35, but she faces the two men from her past that may change her future. Maggie is a relatable character who is strong and doesn't allow these men dictate her life.

As I dove into this book with an expectation that it was a simple fluff story, I soon found that there was a complexity and depth to Maggie and her two men that I enjoyed exploring. I highly recommend this one and any other title by Alison Rose Greenberg.

thank you for the advance copy.

This was the romance book I have been needing this month. The book had me gripped from the beginning, the relationships, the drama! I was disappointed in some choices but I think this made me connect better to the story as it’s more realistic in choice. I really enjoyed this one, I highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this book! The main couple was so cute and I enjoyed the multiple storylines! It really made me wonder who Maggie was going to end up with. This was a very refreshing read that went beyond the normal romance tropes and I would recommend it to anyone!

At face value I expected this to be a fluffy romance but it ended up being kind of deep. There were actually three or four points in the story when I thought I had this book all figured out and then the author would add another layer to the narrative that would take me completely by surprise. It is rare that I read a book without reading the description or any reviews, but in this instance, it made for an intriguing experience. There was a big part of me that kept circling back to the idea that “if he wanted to he would,” but the storyline the author crafted did make the events feel believable, frustrating and tragic at times, but believable. This was a refreshing read that went beyond the standard romance tropes. I was initially a little put off by the last “will they won’t they” twist, but the more I think on it, the more I believe it was actually exactly what the story needed. This one is definitely worth the read! I’d recommend going into it as blind as possible if you still have the option.

I shouldn't have waited so long to read Maybe Once, Maybe Twice. I really enjoyed this messy (love) story. I don't think I'd categorize this as a romance though. It's a story about Maggie and her loves and heartbreaks. This was a lot deeper of a book than I expected, but it worked for me. I liked the timeline jumping. We'd find out 'something' in one timeline, and then the next chapter would be showing how that 'something' came to be. It kept me from wanting to put the book down. I've seen other reviews mention that the characters were unlikeable, and honestly I was surprised. I really liked Maggie and bought into how hard she fell for everyone and everything, and how she viewed the world.

I really tried to read this several times and I DNF it at about 25%. I really tried my best but it was not for me

i really liked this one! very refreshing to read a story about someone not in their twenties for once, and a fun play on the "if we're not married by a certain age, we should get married" pact!

This was fine. Nothing earth shattering and definitely won’t be memorable. I love the premise and thought for sure it would be a hit because I always love a “if we’re not married by ****” pact ….but it ended up just ok.

Loved the premise and had really high hopes, however, the timeline jumping definitively did not add to the story and made the plot jumbled in my opinion. I also found the romance to be lacking - there was not enough chemistry between Maggie and either love interest. The characters were all just meh to me and maybe that’s why I found a hard time believing in the romance. I am also not a fan of the cheating or miscommunication tropes which are both very prevalent in the story.

I took off another star for the ending because it was very rushed and really took away from the story - it honestly doesn’t make any sense to end it that way in my opinion and I think I would’ve liked the story more of the resolution was different.

Read if you love second chance romance and love triangle tropes ✨

An amazing book for any music lover! There are references to so many songs it's difficult to keep track!! It's a slow burn for those who love the tension. The book is centered around two marriage pacts...yes the ones you make with your guy friends in college when you fear being single forever. The FMC is forced to chose between two guys, and ends up discovering a lot about herself along the way. Overall I loved this book!

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me. The dueling timelines confused me at first since, despite chapter headers, I didn’t realize what was going on. Additionally, I found it hard to empathize or cheer for the main characters.

Maybe Once, Maybe Twice was absolutely not what I was expecting it to be. I went into this read expecting a light-hearted romance and was met with a heart wrenching and conflicting story. There were a lot of time jumps here which while they added to the story in a great way, sometimes were a bit overkill and kept me trying to keep up a little bit, but I did really enjoy the contrasts of the time jumps in conjunction with the 2 relationships.

Overall, I though the conflict and her differences in the relationships with these two people to be incredibly interesting, I also found myself getting annoyed with her for how she handled her relationship with Garrett while he was engaged to another woman. Of course, the drama of this and the complexities added to the storyline, but I just can’t help but get annoyed when the character you are trying to root for is involved in cheating. This was such a complicated story because of how messy and imperfect her situations were and that made it incredibly realistic and honest which is something you don’t often find in a romance book, and that is what pushed me from the 3 to 4 star mark here. This whole story had so much heart and emotion and it was so different to what I thought it would be.

Many thanks to NetGalley and to St. Martin’s Press for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
