What a unique setting for a mystery…a lakeside library! This is the third book in the Lakeside Library series, and they just keep getting better. Rain and her friends once again find themselves in the middle of a murder mystery. This murder seems to be a copy cat of the book club book that they have just finished reviewing. Twists and turns continue to abound as they work to find out who killed their fried. Also, Jace and Rain continue to circle closer and closer to a relationship. Romance, intrigue, murder and a library…oh and the addition of a dog. What more could you ask for?! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

Summer is in full swing as tourists flock back to the Northwoods and travel to Lofty Pines, Wisconsin. For Rain Wilmot, owner of the Lakeside Library, this is the perfect opportunity to bring back her mother’s summer book club. But then one of the club’s members, Lily Redlin, is found dead in her own home not long after the first meeting. Alongside her neighbor Julia Reynolds and the policeman and Julia's brother Jace Lowe, Rain discovers that the murder is seemingly inspired by the book the club recently discussed Agatha Christie’s classic mystery novel, Sparkling Cyanide. But who would kill Lily? The deeper Rain investigates, the more confusing and complicated the plot becomes. Was Lily murdered to cover up a tragic accident that occurred years ago involving an old classmate? Or were the rumors true—did Lily really possess a priceless original Laura Ingles Wilder manuscript and someone killed her for it? And what about the mysterious letter Lily received just before her death from a supposed long lost relative?

This is an interesting series about a library connected to a cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. This is the third installment and continues to get better with each new installment. The scenery is described beautifully, and the author continues to develop the main characters. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read the newest in this series.

This book made me long for summer, Lofty Pines a summer lakeside tourist attraction sounds delightful, and had me missing living near a lake.

The owner of the Lakeside Library, Rain starts off her summer reading club with a classic Agatha Christie novel, and life then imitates art! With Julia by her side can Rain find out who wanted Lily dead before it’s too late?

It was an enjoyable quick read, and I look forward to more from this series.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. This is the third in the “A Lakeside Library Mystery”. I enjoyed this cozy mystery and could relate to the characters especially Rain and Julia. A quick and fun read with plenty of adventure, some romance, a zany book club with a dash of suspense. Rain Wilmont is the new owner of the Lakeside Library and she decides to bring back her mother’s book club for the summer. But after their first meeting one of the participants, Lily Redlin has been found murder in her house. She was poison with eye drop fluid which was one of the topics that the book club discussed at their meeting. Rain and Julia decided to investigate who killed Lily before someone that is innocent is accused. There are two motives for Lily’s death, so Rain and Julia decides to investigate both and that is when their troubles begin. Rain and Julia decide to host a reenactment of the club’s first meeting to get clues. Read and find out if they do come across with some precious evidence to clear the book club of this murder or is it actually one of them that murdered Lily.

This is book #3 in the Lakeside Library cozy mystery series and the first book I’ve read by this author. It follows Rain, who runs the lakeside library with her friends Julia and Marge. After their first library book club meeting, one of the members ends up dead. It’s a great who dun it with multiple layers of twists and turns with some romance as well. A delight to read. I have the first two books of this series on my tbr. A fun read!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Perfect for fans of Jenn McKinlay and Ellery Adams, Rain Wilmot must find a novel solution in order to catch another killer—before her book club members are picked off one by one.
Lakeside Library Mystery #3 '
This was my first book by this author so I have missed the first two in the series.
I love this idea of a unique library and the settings and characters make it an enjoyable book. I am definitely going back to read them in order. This is my idea of what a good cozy mystery is.
Rain oversees the little library with the help of her friends. Intriguing murder mystery.

Rain, a young widow who owns the Lakeside Library in Lofty Pines, Wisconsin, puts on her amateur sleuth hat and grabs her best friend, Julia, to investigate how and why a member of their reading group has died. The women break a lot of rules and interfere with the police investigation, but in the end survive their own mishaps. Author Holly Danvers provides a lot of fun wrapped in a good cozy mystery with a budding romance between Rain and Jace, a local police officer. Book three in the Lakeside Library series can be read as a standalone, but newcomers will want to mix their own authentic Wisconsin brandy old fashioned and catch up with the previous two novels.

Rain Wilmot of the Lakeside Library is having the first meeting of the summer reading book club. The book up for discussion is Agatha Christie's Sparkling Cyanide. When a book club member is killed, the cause of death is something that was discussed at the meeting. What is the reason for the murder? Do the connections between some of the members factor in? Who is leaving clues for Rain to follow?
Third in the series - quick read - enjoy catching up with Rain and friends.

Thanks to Crooked Lane Books and Netgalley for giving me access to this book early in return for an honest review.

This is the third book in the Lakeside Library Mystery Series, and the first that I have read. It’s always hard jumping into the series midstream. The author does a really great job at giving enough information about all the characters as they’re introduced that the reader can get a really good feel for who they are regardless of whether they have read the preceding two books or not. I do wish that a bit more about Max, Rain’s deceased husband, was explained. It was the only shortfall of all the character descriptions and does make me want to go back and read the series from the beginning.

This book follows Rain and her best friend Julia as they try to solve the murder of one of their book club members, Lily. There are some delicious twists and turns in this delightful cozy mystery that will keep you guessing with enough crumbs to solve it on your own. There is also an abundance of adorable dogs, a welcome addition to any cozy mystery.

This book was paced really nicely and had a really vidid setting. I love books set in alternative library spaces, like Eva Gates’ Lighthouse Library series. This one is a small converted cottage on a lake which was absolutely charming. I wish we spend a little more time in the library and with its patrons as they are all well fleshed out characters that add a lot to the story.

Overall a very enjoyable read. I’m definitely going to go back to the beginning on this series to read some more.

Thank you to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books, and Holly Danvers for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Read to Death at the Lakeside Library contains all of the elements of a good cozy mystery. I read the first two books in the Lakeside Library Murders after receiving the ARC to get a feel for the whole story. It flowed very well, something that I appreciated even after reading the other books. I love Rain and Julia's friendship and the addition of Jace into their crew as well. I can't wait to see how Rain and Jace's relationship develops and read more from Holly in this series!

This has all of the elements of a cozy mystery: beautiful setting, dogs, Old friends, a touch of romance, and a murder.
It has a bonus for readers of being centered on members of a book club at the small Wisconsin Lakeside Library. The characters are well developed and the plot is tightly woven and well paced. The two main characters help to solve the mystery, working with the local (very handsome) police officer. There is an amazing climax that is one of the best I have read in a long time.

Holly Danvers does it again with the latest book in the Lakeside Library Mystery series, presenting a complex and intriguing mystery in a beautiful and bookish setting.
The characters we have come to love are all there, with personal developments that promise more in the coming books. The members of the book club, embroiled in a murder mystery from their very first meeting, make excellent suspects and weeding through them to get to the truth is entertaining and engaging.
Danvers has written another well-written page-turner that is sure to delight.
I received an ARC of #ReadtoDeathattheLakesideLibrary from #NetGalley.

“Read to Death at the Lakeside Library” is due to be published August 8th 2023. This is the third book in the Lakeside Library Mystery series. This is the first book I’ve read in the series. I thought it’d be hard to read since I never read the other ones but I was wrong it flowed perfectly.

Rain runs the local library in Lofty Wisconsin along with her best friend Julia and great friends Marge that Rains grandfather started. Soon Rain decides to hold her first book club meeting and someone later that night ends up dead. Who knew a book club could be deadly ?

This books was really good I was hooked from the very beginning and read it in less than 2 hours. The dialogue was definitely interesting and the the way the amazing scenery was described it felt like I was really there while reading.

I’m really looking forward to reading more books from Holly Danvers and I’ll be looking forward to more with Jace and Rain. I really am invested and need to see how their story blossoms.

Thank you NetGalley, Holly Danvers and Crooked Lane Books for allowing me to read an advanced readers copy.

Where to start with this book!? It was SO good, I could hardly put it down!

As a librarian, I love the idea of having a lakeside library (wish I could work there)! But, on to the review...Rain and Julia are back on a new case in Lofty Pines and this one hits close to home - one of their fellow bookclubbers is killed by the same means as the victim is killed in their first book club book - yowie wowie (something I think Julia would say haha)!

This book had red, green, and blue herrings, but I was able to piece together some of the mystery - the who (after many wrong guesses), part of the how, and part of the why. Greed and money were at the heart of this mystery, as with so many across the board, but Holly Danvers made it interesting and suspenseful - like I said, I could hardly put it down.

I also could NOT stop smiling when Rain and Jace were tiptoeing around each other - so obviously into each other - I can't wait to see what happens with their relationship in the next book.

One of my favorite parts of this story had absolutely nothing to do with the mystery - it was when Rain adopted a husky dog, named Benzo. The husky on the front cover and the description look just like my husky puppy, Loki.

Needless to say, this should definitely be on your TBR list, but read the first two first!

4.9 out of 5 stars.

I received an arc from Netgalley for an honest review.

I AM GOING TO UPLOAD THIS REVIEW ON MY INSTAGRAM CLOSER TO PUBLISHING DATE

I gave the book 5 stars.

This is the third book in A Lakeside Library Mystery Book series. I have read the two previous books and really liked them. I have been waiting for this third book a long time, and it has been one of the books I had been looking forward to most for the 2023 releases. I was so happy to get the early release, and it was a joy meeting the lovely characters again.

What I like most about this book series are the characters. They have such an amazing bond and are well-written. The setting is amazing as well, a library in an old cabin by a lake. The mystery was intriguing and there were many red herrings, so I didn't figure it out until the end.

I truly recommend this series and I think it should be read in order (especially since Rain's relationships have changed a lot since the first book in the love department).

This book comes out 08 Aug

3.5/5

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I didn’t realize this was part of a series when I requested this book, but overall I think that it was still enjoyable and fairly easy to follow, save some information from previous books (but it wasn’t overbearing or constantly repeated so I think it’s fine). I did have a hard time with Julie’s character. She felt a little bit over the top and maybe cartoonishly quirky? I don’t know, I feel like nobody would talk like this and that if they did, they’d be insufferable.

Other than that though this was an enjoyable cozy murder mystery! It was a fun time and a fairly quick read.

The Lakeside Library series has been a fun new addition to the cozy mystery genre! I enjoy the characters and seeing their development. The mystery in this book was fun to solve and I love the introduction of the book club. This book has me dreaming of summer days, lake trips, and endless piles of books!!!

I really enjoyed, Read to Death at the Lakeside Library. This is the 3rd book in this series by Holly Danvers. This is the first book that I have read in this series and I felt like it could be read as a a stand alone.
When a member of their book club is murdered, Rain and Julia just can’t leave it up to the police to solve the crime. What makes this crime more appealing to Rain and Julia, is the fact that it seems suspiciously similar to the book they were reading for their book club. Very good book. Can’t wait to read more in this series.

This is a quintessential cozy mystery from author Holly Danvers. When Rain, owner of the Lakeside Library, her best friend, Julia, and their endearing elderly friend and fellow library employee, Marge, decided to start a library book club, little did they expect that life would all too soon resemble the plot of the first book club choice, Agatha Christie's "Sparking Cyanide". The book club discussion gets interesting discussing the method of murder used in the book and how a modern every day item could be used to poison someone as effectively as the cyanide had in the book. Things get a bit heated during the discussion as well, but no one expected that one of the members wouldn't make it to the next book club meeting because they were murdered! Rain and Julia decide, yet again, to do a bit of sleuthing to find out what happened to their new acquaintance and they end up in another dangerous situation trying to find the killer. This story moves at a good pace, has plenty of interesting characters, just the right touch of love interest to keep things fun, good subplots, several red herrings, and one handsome new character who moves into the library and the hearts of everyone who meets him. Pick up this charming cozy and join the fun and mystery in Lofty Pines, Wisconsin ... you won't be disappointed.
