Locked room murder of a sort but the room was an island and there were far more characters than the 6 friends who became 5 after one was murdered. The 6 had come to Inis Mor to commemorate the death, 10 years before, of a dear friend. Their subsequent lives had moved them greatly apart. The widow of the dead man was now the local Garda, another friend the local publican, one a local teacher and the other 3 had London and Dublin lives. The island was cut off during a blizzard to add to the atmosphere and there was little or no internet/phone coverage even on a good day. The characters of the friends were well-described even if those characters were not all especially likeable. Initially I got the feeling that the cottage where they were all staying, family home of one of them, was a considerable distance form the town but they all seemed to get back to town rather easily, if lots of description about snow drifts, bad driving conditions (only one car between them, that of the Garda) and that just felt wrong. I did feel sorry for the Garda as she was trying to deal with a probable murder by herself as mainland detectives couldn't reach the island, as well as coping with the anniversary of her husband's death, their young child, the nastiness/predictability of some of the so-called friends and the like. Still, I generally enjoyed it enough to give 3.5* rounded up - it was Ireland and the Aran islands after all! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy.

I just loved this claustrophobic thriller set on one of the small Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland. 6 friends have gathered to commemorate a beloved friend who died many years ago. Before the event, a freak blizzard cuts off any travel to the mainland,. Worse yet, one friend is murdered and it's obvious that there is a killer amongst them.

I spent a few days on the islands and was able to imagine just how small of a town it was, and just how trapped you could be ! This story keeps you guessing and I really enjoyed every bit of it. If you love a good blizzard story, or friends who want revenge or are just hoping to try a new up and coming author, The Snowstorm is for you!

Six friends gather. It has been ten years since the tragedy that tore them apart. A lot can change in a decade…
Childhood bonds are now lifelong secrets.
Dear friendships have twisted into deep jealousies.
A happy reunion is shattered by a dead body.
The celebrations have barely begun when one of the guests goes missing. As the snow thickens, the body is found.
Then the storm wreaks havoc on the island. Everyone is trapped – there is no way out. No electricity. No phone signal.
Nobody knows who to trust. No one is who they seem. Because one of them is a killer, and one will be dead next…
It’s an enjoyable read! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, and so many crazy twists! And a bit of a who done it! I recommend reading this book! Giving it four stars.

Great premise, but the writing and the characters didn't work for me. I'd still like to check out more from this author, there is lots of potential here.

I wanted to like this book sooo much I was super excited to get approved for it....unfortunately the Irish dialouge was super hard to read and the story was sooo slow it was so hard for me to het into it I was hoping for more of a locked room mystery but was disappointed in how they were investigating all over the island instead of more of a locked room story!

Much thanks to #netgalley and #bookouture for allowing me to read and review this ARC

Wanted to enjoy this but not the writing style for me. Immediately threw me for a loop. If you’re well immersed in Irish brogue, you may like it. Otherwise it can come across as annoying.
