I LOVE snail books and for some reason it's my most popular storytime at the library. This book will definitely be added to my storytime rotation!

I loved this. Very cute plot and characters. Marjorie is fun and relatable and shows that needing your alone time is okay! Great story to learn about problem solving also. The illustrations were beautiful and my favourite part was all of the little details!

This cute children's book explores the importance of finding space for you to be alone and feel safe. It sends an important message that it is ok to need some time alone in a way that will make sense for young children. I would definitely recommend this book. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

This was a lovely and well-illustrated story about the power of alone time and reconnecting with self. It celebrates more introverted spirits and gives young children the language they need to take a break. I would love to share this with my 1st grade class.

This book is about Marjorie the snail, and she just wants some time alone. However, she can’t be alone when there’s always a trail leading everybody to her. At times, she gets annoyed and frustrated because she needs her quiet time. Help from her friend Bernard will allow her to find the best of both worlds. Overall, I like the story and I get the concept and know children who will take this to heart. However, I’m not the biggest fan of the artwork and think it could be better.

This is the story of Marjorie the snail as she learns how to voice her taking a moment to herself without everyone coming to find her because everyone needs to be alone sometimes

As someone who was a very shy child and currently a very introverted adult, I absolutely loved this book. Snail Trail is a good depiction of what it’s like for a child who needs alone time. Sometimes it’s difficult to explain to others, and often times they don’t understand. This is a book that would be of great value to every child. I do think it’s geared more towards older children though. The length may not hold the attention of someone whose younger then 4 or 5. The illustrations were also adorable!

A quirky, fun story about relishing alone time as well as time with friends. Marjorie the snail enjoys being around people but she also needs time to simply be alone. When her alone time is interrupted again and again, Marjorie becomes frustrated and looks for escape. At last she finds the solitude she's been seeking. She also finds a new friend and new tools for getting the downtime she needs. The illustrations in the book have great movement and personality with clever use of the snail trail concept. A great book for understanding introverts and the downtime we all need now and again.

I received an electronic ARC from Cicada Books through NetGalley.
Marjorie wanted some time alone but no matter how many places she hid, someone always found her. This led to frustration and lashing out at a friend. Finally, she wandered far enough to be alone. As readers may predict, she got lost and had to rely on the friend she was rude to for help getting home. When they talked together, she learned that both of them needed space for quiet.
I appreciated the way Hanaor shared the characters and the way they learned and grew. Readers will connect with the need for some quiet at times and appreciate the modeling from the two friends. The mom is portrayed well also. She is supportive and encouraging. The color palette for the illustrations is a bit too subtle for my taste but others will appreciate the muted tones.

Marjorie! A snail after my own heart. I feel you your struggles!

Marjorie just wants some alone time and everytime she finds a quiet spot someone interrupts her. Thinking incorrectly that she is sad or something, never giving her that down time to just recharge. To the point where she gets annoyed and snaps at a friend. Until she finally just wanders off super far away and almost gets lost.

I loved this book because I have two children who are completely opposite in that sense. One is very much extroverted and has a hard time being alone, while the other one needs that time to recharge and have some quiet to herself. I get it, I need it too. It's not about being antisocial it's just what you need to get energy and self care for yourself, I think this book does a great job explaining this in a cute way.

The resolution at the end is where it lost me just a little bit, I get that her friends were finding her by her snail trail and she could stop that by covering up her tracks. Not sure how that will be interpreted by kids, I did enjoy that in the end Majorie could be with another snail and not necessarily be communicating with them. It was ok.

The illustrations are beautiful watercolor style, I'm not sure why the snails have hair? This could probably be omitted. Seemed as bit silly and not fit.

I for sure will recommend this book to others and will keep my eyes out for other stories by this author,

Thank you to NetGalley and Cicada Books for this advance reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

I will be posting my review to the.littlest.bookworm Instagram closer to publication date and major retail sites.

A cute story about the importance of finding a place where you can spend time alone or together alone. Also about finding that person who understands.

In reading Snail Trail, it made for a great discussion point about how it is a great thing to be able to find our own spots and have time to ourselves. This story tackles that idea of independence by linking it to a snail, whose family always finds her due to the trail she leaves behind. Her solution at the end was fun, as well as the fact that she found out her friend wanted the same thing.

This is a sweet story about a snail who just needs some alone time. This is something many children can relate to and it covers how to request some alone time in a polite and healthy way. The illustrations are adorable as well!

I deeply appreciate the representation of introversion in a children's book! Marjorie the snail struggles to find some alone time until a surprise ally helps her find the reprieve she needs. This book manages to touch on sensory overload, mindfulness, advocating for your mental health needs, and finding common ground with those who may seem different, all in the small space of a picture book. My only qualm is the illustrations. I love the look of the watercolors, but I think my kids get more out of illustrations that have more detail, especially with facial expressions.

Thank you to Cicada Books and NetGalley for providing an advance reader copy for my family to review! We enjoyed it.
