I don't usually read short stories, but this collection was a good read. I really enjoyed it, and recommended to friends who also liked it.

This was a huge tome, with interconnected novellas and stories.

Parts were written in the 90s. It was definitely an interesting experience reading this. It did take awhile to get through.

I wasn’t a fan of the characters, but I do love all things “zombie”, and these zombies are a little unique at times.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and eSpec Books for a copy!

Very good books with interesting stories that kept me entertained. I will look forward to more works from this author in the future!

Basically this e-book is a collection of short novellas in the same universe where the characters come together or cross paths. Starts pretty straightforward with a zombie story but gets more complex when we advance the story, this zombies, grow body parts that they are lacking, and there’s a mysterious person with the touch of death, that with only a touch kills the undead… and if you want to know more I would advice you to grab a copy and read for yourself.

I didn’t care much for the characters, the one I liked the best was the scientist, but his story made me sad… I wont say why because that would spoil his story… this book has a good world building, and it is a nice way to spend some time reading.

Thank you NetGalley and eSpec Books for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

"You owe the dead everything. And they will take what's theirs."

I'm halfway done with this 522 pg rottingly glorious read. The Corpse Fauna Chronicles by James Chambers are a connected group of novellas, short stories, and illustrations from the Corpse Fauna Cycle. I'm just going to say two words, zombie saints. You know the saints whose dead bodies are kept in glass caskets? YES those. I've enjoyed reading this so much. A portion was written in the 90s so there are some zombie apocalypse cliches but none the less I looked forward to picking this book back up every single day. There were also some plot points that I haven't seen in other books. The gore level and pacing are both perfect and I've enjoyed the characters as well as the descriptive writing so much. The focus on eyes and this mystical religious backdrop got to me too. Great work overall. I'll be buying a finished copy.

I was really glad to read the entire Corpse Fauna Chronicles series in one collection. I've been reading this from The Dead Bear Witness, and each chapter has been done so well. I enjoyed that it was a unique take on the reanimated dead. I enjoyed each part of the stories and it was what I was expecting. I can't wait to read more from James Chambers.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Stradley said. “What I meant is we let appearances run down out front to intimidate the locals and keep away prying eyes. The heart of what we do, what we’ve built, the Garden, is out of sight of the road, of course, but no point making outsiders feel welcome, right? So, you go ahead and drive your bumper car any way you want.”
