I thought this was such a cute book. I loved little Wisteria and the illustrations were beautiful. This gave me The Borrowers and Studio Ghibli vibes.

I adored the story now and I know I would've loved to read this as a kid too. This graphic novel really hits all the magical heartwarming notes that it's aiming for with the illustrations, colour palette, and characters!

This is a simple story where you can understand what it is simply by the title, The Sprite and The Gardener. The art is sooo cute!!! In my opinion this book is definitely carried by the art, there are so many scenes that I would cut out and put on my wall theyre so beautiful. Sadly the plot isn’t super strong— but I think the goal of this graphic novel isn’t to tell an emotional story, but to just make you happy, which this definitely did! Super cute and easy to read, would definitely recommend any one to read to see the art.

A graphic novel that's the very definition of short and sweet! The colors add to the soothing atmosphere, and the drawings are full of heart.

3.6 ⭐️ A cosy graphic novel looking at a sprite’s love of gardening.

This is perfect for anyone who enjoys K. O’Neils work. The art pallet is similar to the cosy warm pastels and earth tones used in Tea Dragon Society and the artwork is just as beautiful.

It’s low angst and just a sweet and wholesome story. I would say there’s not much to the story, even for the age group it is quite short and simple with not a whole lot going on. Saying that the art really does stand out and is beautifully put together.

Gorgeously illustrated and beautifully brought together in all aspects. A short and sweet graphic novel.

This recently made it's way into our collection at the Bookshop and I was given another chance to pick this up and read it! I really loved the art and the fairy tale like vibes were stunning. I am so happy that I got to pick this one up in the end.

A sweet book with tender illustrations! I am not much of a graphic novel reader but I did enjoy this and it transported me to another place which is what I always want from these types of things.

It has elements of a fable. We are introduced to the vibrant fairy sprites that were formerly responsible for all of the planet's vegetation, but who are now dormant since people tend gardens. The narrative centres on wisteria, a special sprite who desires to cooperate with people and care for the environment. The artwork in this place is exquisite. It appears to be influenced by traditional fairytale illustrations, yet the sprites are diverse instead! Their expressive facial expressions are stunning, and the vivid colours make the people and the plants come to life.
It was a brief read, but I grinned and laughed the entire time. It's a lovely reflection on the satisfaction that comes from making other people happy. What could be better than friendships forged through love and understanding?

I'm conflicted with this book, because Abrego's illustrations are nothing short of stunning, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the story. The Sprite and the Gardner is a rehashing of the "not like other girls" trope, which it tells through a vapid set of secondary characters that are meant to serve as foils. I wish I could recommend this book because the illustrations deserve to be seen, but are ultimately undermined by the message and execution of the story.

This was a really chill read and the artwork is ✨stunning✨ so I really enjoyed it! It didn't go too deep on its themes of isolation and loneliness, and I would say everything worked out too conveniently for Wisteria and Elena in the end, but uncomplicated was EXACTLY what I needed today. 💕

I got the eARC but it would be worth owning this in print. I also learned this was the debut for both of the creators and kudos to them, this was an incredible first work!

I recommend this to anyone who loves nature and gardening, characters from lore in a contemporary setting, and v little plot but v big vibes. 😉

I've been loving graphic novels more and more, and this was definitely no exception. the art is beautiful and I love the pastel colors! It's just so cute and sweet and I wish I could read ten more just like this one!

This book was so cute!

It was such a short story and the authors manage to make you care about the characters in a way i can't really describe.
The illustrations are phenomenal and they were a pleasure to see, they add to the message of the book in a truly beautiful way.
The overall message is about friendship given that the book revolves around Wisteria, a garden sprite, starts helping Elena, a human girl, to grow her garden in order to surprise and please her mum, who works long hours throughout the day and can't tend to it anymore the way she did.

Rii Abrego and Joe Whitt created a wonderful story that i was lucky enough to read and now have in my life.

I really love it.
The story is so cute and at the same time it's about inclusiveness and diversity.
The designs and colors are beautiful. The fairy protagonist is gorgeous with her bright eyes and the gardener is a good person who doesn't deny hard work.
