Thanks Netgalley for the arc.
Not only is the illustration stunning, the story is also heartwarming. I LOVE IT. It reminds me of Thumbelina

Gorgeous art and a charming story. I only wish it were longer! Here's hoping the paperback edition gives it new life.

Thank you to net galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This was a very wholesome and cute read. Wisteria was so sweet, I loved her and how she helped Elena by bringing all of the sprites together to help.

That being said, it all just felt a little lacking in depth and history. Definitely a lovely light read for when you need a little pick me up.

This stunning debut graphic novel for Rii Abrego and Joe Whitt is full of colour, gorgeous illustrations, hope and teamwork. It's a fun and carefree story without an antagonist and full of feel -good vibes from start to finish.

Wisteria is a sprite, a creature who once tended the earth's gardens, but were put out of a job when humans fostered a green thumb. Now, Wisteria wonders if things might be easier if they worked together with the humans, to help those in need of a little gardening expertise. Together with her new friends, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery alongside her new human friend Elena, to build a garden for Elena's mother.

The story is straightforward and easy for any age to comprehend. Images are eye-catching and feature lots of sparkles. Themes include hope, teamwork, friendship, and learning new things, with a happily ever after ending.

What a cute spring-time graphic novel! The art style and colour palette was beautiful. The scenery looked breathtaking and I just wanted to be immersed into the setting. A perfect book to read in the springtime or even the summer! I can picture picking this up, relaxing, and reading it laid out in the summer sun. Beautiful art, cute story. Definitely recommend.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the complimentary e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

“The Sprite and the Gardener” is an enchanting story that is sure to become a child's classic.

While simple in its story structure, I have to applaud the cleverness of the story’s visuals. Immediately the minimal muted color palette(s) caught my attention. The middle tone of the colors appealing to the eye; the dynamic range of characters makes the story gripping.

The Sprite and the Gardener is a beautifully illustrated gentle tale of friendship and mutual respect by Rii Abrego & Joe Whitt. Released 11th May from Oni Press, it's 88 pages and is available in hardcover and ebook/comiXology formats. A new paperback format release is due out 11th May 2022.

This is *such* a beautifully told story. I was completely captivated. The art is perfect for this story, lightly whimsical and ethereal. There is a misty quality which reminds me in some ways of the best of this style of drawing, P. Craig Russell and Linda Medley for example. In some ways the sweetly whimsical and gentle storytelling style reminds me a lot of Katie O'Neill's Tea Dragon Society books and I would heartily recommend this one to fans of any of the above artists/authors.

Five stars. One of my better reads this year and a good selection for public or school library acquisition as well as all-ages reading.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This little graphic novel was so cute! It was a wonderful story about working together and helping the earth. The vivid, pastel colors really gave off that magical fairy-like vibe. I really liked it, such a sweet story.

This was such a wholesome book perfect for fans of Studio Ghibli and cottage core!
This graphic novel introduces Wisteria, a new sprite who wants to go back to the old ways when sprites were more useful and looked after nature.

With the help of some friends and lessons, Wisteria learns that you can't  do it all, and sometimes it's better to have help.

I adore the messages in this story as well as the gorgeous art work. It is about teamwork, hoe doing it all isn't the best thing and how good friends will always be there to help. Thus would be a perfect book to have in the classroom and it's a gorgeous pick-me-up if you're having a hard day. I do hope the author brings more out as the characters are simply stunning!

Goodreads rating: 5 stars.

This was an incredibly cute little story about a little flower sprite changing a neglected garden together with a young girl wanting to do something nice for her mother.

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc!

This book is short but sweet. Part of me wishes it was a little longer, but the truth is, if it was any longer it probably take away from the story. Even though this is a self contained story, there's enough hints about other background details that make me know there is a world beyond the surface, which is always what you want in a story. I'd be interested in reading a series of these, perhaps featuring different fairies, locations, or time periods because I really enjoyed this book.

The art is absolutely beautiful. Vivid colors, diverse and adorable character designs, fun fairy hair, etc. Each panel is pretty enough to display as stand alone art and the soft tones evoke a cozy, happy spring feeling.

I would say that the audience for this is any age- it's simple enough for children to understand (plus they'd probably like the pictures), but sweet and meaningful enough to engage adults. All in all it's a lovely, succinct, and beautiful book.

The story is so cute, warming, and fun! It's a story about a garden fairy who loves a gardener's smile when her plant finally blooms with her help. I don't want to spoil the whole story, so get this book and read it yourself.

The Sprite and the Gardener is a wonderful story. Before I even began reading, the art and the layout drew me in. It's beautiful and I loved scanning the illustrations for detail. The characters are as diverse as the flowers and every page is beautiful.
The story is cozy and a lovely commentary on community and common purpose. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.

Adorable! This reminded me of a mixture of thumbelina, and the old Disney books about the Pixie Hollow fairies.
