Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I started this book not realising it was book 8 in a series but it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. I found this gritty thriller really engaging and full of depth and detail. I enjoyed the character dynamics and how the story developed to create a satisfying ending. A really good edgy crime thriller that I would definitely recommend. 4 stars.

The title of the book really says it all - thriller, terrifying, mystery, but good. Well written and kept me on the edge of my seat, turning the page. I thought I had it all figured out, but the ending definitely took me by surprise! Really great read.

With horrific characters but it is a crime that you really want to solve.

Unfortunately, I was not able to finish this book. It left me reeling at 50% of it, screaming in anger. As a new mother, I have had a heard time reading books with kid-related tropes.

A rare day off for Detective Ives when she get the calls she never wanted to get...there has been another one. As Maddie arrives at the location she sees a couple brutalized and murdered. As they look at the scene the discover the wife had been ripped from her hiding spot and she was hiding from the attacker. This is the second house of horrors that Maddie had heard and seem in less than a month. The first was responded to by her boyfriend where they found a single mother murdered and her daughter nailed under the floor. But Jade doesnt remember anything. Maddie does not think this is a coincidence and that this is a targeted attack. As they investigate what is occurring secrets are exposed and truths are discovered.

This was an absolutely terrifying book but so good. It was very well written and once I started I never wanted to put the book down! It kept me on the edge of the seat and I wanted to know what happened next. I thought I had it figured it out but I really did not expect the ending. I am a huge fan of books that i dont expect the ending on. It was definitely interesting as well to see the dynamic between Maddie and her boyfriend as they were in the samr field and could get tricky. It was fantastic and I would read over and over again!

Fantastic read! I didn’t realize it was part of a series. I will definitely be reading more! Can’t wait for the next in series.

I didn't realise this was a series and this is my first book by this author and won't be the last I loved this and highly recommend

This was a decent read, not what I expected! It definitely kept me interested from beginning to end as I tried to figure out the plot twist.

Book 8 in the DI Maddie Ives series and WOW what a cracking read !! It had me totally gripped from start to finish. I’m loving the new addition to the team Eileen , what a great character!! Also, DI Harry Blaker didn’t ‘growl’ as much !!!

Sipping thoughts: It really took some time for me to get into this book. I don’t know if it was the writing style, purposeful to keep you guessing, or just my mood. However, I am glad I kept reading because the last half of the book was worth it and interesting. I really enjoyed unpacking the mystery of the killings and the motive behind it. The story can be a trigger for some and it is dark but I enjoyed it.

The Girl Under the Floor by Charlie Gallagher was another excellent book in the Maddie Ives series and this is the eighth book so far and one of his best action packed crime thriller series you can read.
Once I started to read it I was hooked, I ended up reading this book most of the day. It was full of twists and turns. I love learning more about Detective Maddie Ives, she is one of the best detectives out there. This latest book by Charlie will not disappoint and a great book for a holiday read. I do find his books excellent and don't worry if you haven't read the seven book's But I do recommend you go back and read them.

The immersion kept my attention riveted while I hungrily read waiting with a bated breath for the reveal to come out. When it did - wow, was it unexpected. Emotions, entanglement raw killer intent; only to find out it was all for not. The outcome of the surprise was acknowledging you were now the darkest hatred initially accessed as the problem. You can never undo what you've put into action. You can not see what you've seen. This was all -- you. Your weakness was strength; building a hate so strong you fooled yourself. Your emotions and intent falsely mislead you to believe you were in control right up to the point you were proven - wrong!

Charlie Gallagher is the real deal. A try master and mystery thrillers.
Good characters you will love and some you will hate. All makes for a great read that you don’t want to miss.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
