I love a good Christmas romance read and this was a really great one. This was my first Michelle Cornish book but it definitely won't be my last!

This was a great Christmas read! I loved the characters in this book and loved how she didn't take her time with their love. If you want a cute holiday read that is fast paced and makes you fall in love, then this book is for you. This is the third book I have read by Michelle Cornish and I am still in love with her writing.

Thanks NetGalley and SolVin Creative for allowing me to read this ARC.

***2.5 ⭐️***

Lexi is going home for the Christmas holidays and is prepared to go for her ex-fiancé’s funeral, until her mother says it has been cancelled. Lexi arrives to find out her mother made up the story of her ex-fiancé being dead in order to get her to come home for a visit. She is so angry that she runs away to Briar’s (her best friend) farm for refuge, only to find out Briar and her husband, Dax, have a family emergency they need to leave town for. Lexi is tasked with ensuring the farm still operates while they’re gone, along with the help of Dax’s cousin, John. With many antics from a rambunctious puppy, Lexi finds her happiness again.

While this book is advertised as a romantic Christmas novella, the only thing it is not is romantic. The vibes between John and Lexi are nonexistent, even when John tries to give Lexi compliments. Lexi, as someone who is proficient in marketing and PR, is little more than a bumbling child, sticking her foot in her mouth at every turn and having little tantrums. Lexi’s mother, a recovering alcoholic, is about as cognitively warped as her daughter is, and her poor father has to deal with them both. There are side stories of how John came to live in this small town as well as the fallout from Lexi’s mother’s relationship with her sister, but these are glossed over and not explained in their entirety either. Even the ex-fiancé is a jerk, with no explanation why he and Lexi split up nor an apology from either is had. At the most, the animals have more characterization than the people in this story. Unfortunately, even what should have been a sappy ending fell flat.

Gah, I needed more! It’s a novella, which I get, but I wasn’t done reading! Haha! This story could have been expanded to easily a 300+ page book when details are added along with more storyline or plot development, but I did enjoy what I read! It was easy to get into, quick to read, and a fun lighthearted book set at Christmastime on a farm (I mean, really?? Could it get any cuter?). John, the farmhand, is sweet as can be and Lexi is perfect for him. Both running from their own traumas, they work well together and bring each other happiness without even realizing it. Loved the idea and the story, thanks for the opportunity to read!

I've never read any of the rest of this series.
I didn't really see any chemistry between the love interests. Honestly they barely talked.

This was a quick read for me and I found myself fully invested in the outcome. The cover is gorgeous. Definitely recommended

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book. I read it in one sitting and overall, thought it was a cute wintertime rom-com story. I think this would make a darling Christmas hallmark movie! I liked all the characters and was always rooting for the main one! First time reading a book by this author and will definitely read more by her.

She is smart, quirky, definitely puts her foot in her mouth…and I could really connect with that 😂

Lexi went back home when she heard that her ex-fiancé has passed away. She doesn’t have a good relationship with him but Lexi still upset about his passing. When she reached home, she discovered that he is not actually back and that he wanted to get back with her. Her family and best friend, Briar really want to come back for Christmas hence the lies. While she at home, she discover that Briar and her husband’s business has been slow and they’re struggling. When they received a call about Briar’s mother in law had a heart attack, Briar asked if Lexi could stay at their house while they away to take care of the house which Lexi agrees as she’s still furious with her family. It was there she met John who work at the barn and do improvement on the property. Lexi found herself attracted to him but John is also dealing with his past and he found solace at the house.

It is a story of Lexi and John. Both of them had the same issues and they are running from it rather than dealing with it. It is a delightful and sweet read to me although i find it is too short the story plot for both Lexi and John to fell in love with each other.

Warming My winter heart is a contemporary Romance. The events of this story happen around the holiday season. It follows the perspective of Lexi, who has not been home in several years after a breakup, but when her mom messages her that he has died. She comes home for the season and to pay her respects, but a turn of events leaves her shocked, betrayed, and angry. Lexi ends up dog sitting for her best friend instead, who lives on a tree farm, where she keeps running into the sexy farm hand.
This Romance is very G rated, I felt that this story was ok, and it felt more like a contemporary story instead of Romance. There really were not any elements of a budding romance happening. Lexi kept running into John the farm hand and having a polite conversation or help out of an awkward situation, but no description of feelings, actions or inner thoughts of any type of attraction until the very end. Then it felt rushed and all of a sudden, they love each other. It was more focused on past experiences still affecting them or how they grew from them. John the love interest popped in and out of the story. We only got to know him from other characters, I had no real interest in him and did not really get a sense of him. There was not a lot happening in this story and I was a bit disappointed. I liked the setting on the tree farm and the small-town vibes. This story was fine, but it did not capture my interest. I was bored at times, and Lexi and John felt more like neighbors than a couple.
I received this advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

It was pretty boring, honestly. And super flat. It’s just a novella but didn’t make me want to spend time reading anything else.

Cute and fast read…easy to get into , and I liked al the characters. Read in one sitting, and was very relaxing and enjoyable . Would read more by the author .

his small town romance is a fun, uplifting read for the holidays. There are a few too many plot layers and at the same time, plot holes that make it distracting for the reader. For example: the FMC is traveling to a completely different climate for two weeks and only had a carry-on. But I suppose part of the fun of a book like this is just going with it

Loved the book but it was too short, it needs to be a full novel not just a novella. In several places this felt a little disjointed but overall a very good story.. |Giving this 4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC

Lexi Blair hasn’t been home in a long while. Not after her ex-fiancé broke up with her on a paper napkin. She left to California and never looked back.

She’s back in Little City for Christmas to attend her ex-fiancé funeral and just as luck would have it he’s at the Christmas service.

How could her mother lie to her about this? Lexi leaves her parents to stay at her friend Bria house where she ends up pup sitting for them and meets they’re not a good first impression farm worker John.

There is a lot of embarrassing moments, sparks and what if’s. Life keeps throwing curbs at Lexi and tired of her job and life is California where she has no friends or a life she must make a life altering decision.

Give love a chance or go back home.

If you are a sucker for Hallmark movies this book is for you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I enjoyed this book overall. The plot felt like it was jumping from place to place and I wish we had gotten to know John's character a bit better. He was a good character, but also felt like a stranger to me all the way through. But it was enjoyable overall and the Epilogue was a perfect conclusion.

This was a very enjoyable book. Lexi Blair returns to her hometown of Little City, British Columbia, Canada for Christmas after being told by her mother that her ex-boyfriend, Ian, has been killed in a car accident. When Lexi finds out that Ian is alive and well, she leaves her parents' house in a huff. She then visits with her best friend, Briar and her husband, Dax and is asked to dog sit their new puppy while they visit Dax' s mother in a Toronto hospital after she suffers a heart attack. She meets Dax's cousin, John Johnson, who helps out on Briar and Dax''s farm. She finds herself attracted to John and also sees her old boyfriend, Ian, a few times. Will she end up with John or Ian? Read this engaging book and find out. I highly recommend it to other romance readers. I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.

This was a first time read for me by this author, but it won't be my last. The story was well-written and cute and I was pulled into the fun and drama right from the start. Lexi decides to come home after learning her ex has died in a car accident. Only when she arrives, she gets the surprise of her life and sees that he's not actually dead. That was just a lie her mother told her to get her to come back home for Christmas. Now, you know when a lie of that magnitude is told, the break-up had to be all kinds of bad. Adding to all that drama, her ex might also want to get back together with her. But he may actually have some serious competition. John works at the Christmas tree farm Lexi's best friend Briar and her husband own. Business has been slow and John has been helping them spruce it up a bit to attract more customers. When Lexi is out visiting her friend, Briar and her husband have to leave right away due to a family emergency. Briar asks Lexi if she could stay at the house and take care of their puppy while they are away and she agrees. She meets John when he comes by for work. She is instantly drawn to him, but John is dealing with his own past hurts and comes to the farm to find peace. Could it be they might find peace with each other?
This cozy and sweet romance will warm your heart. It has wonderful, endearing characters you can't help but fall in love with, and plenty of fun and humor that's sure to bring a smile to your face and make you laugh. A charming and delightful story that I am glad to have had the opportunity to read!

Reading the “warming my winter heart” definitely warmed my heart with PW stealing the show. This is a short novella following Lexi who is home for Christmas for a funeral, for an ex of hers. Upon arriving from LA it turns out the funeral was cancelled because the ex is alive. Disappointed Lexi hides away and dogsits while her friend is away to look after her mother law. While left at the Christmas Tree Farm she is left to look after the dog and reflects on her own future, where a mystery man by the name John Johnson comes every day to check on the horses, and maybe also check on Lexi?

I rated this book 3.5/5

I loved that this book was set in Kelowna BC, a place I love so much. For this being a short story Lexi has growth throughout the book which is important. PW is my favourite, even when he ran away. The writing is good and simple, perfect of a story like this.
My issues are that the ending felt very sudden and there wasn't much a climax. The characters need a bit more of physical descriptions so I can try and picture them.
I do recommend this book, tropes/topics includes Age gap, alcoholism, forced proximity, and Christmas story.
