I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is set in the present day from the perspective of Alex (who we learn very quickly used to be called something else) and in 1995 from the perspective of Rick, who gets involved with a victim of domestic violence called Marina. I found this very slow - there just wasn't enough plot to fill the pages. I guessed both of what I would describe as the twists, but the characters were all so unlikeable and all behaved so bizarrely (even the blameless Beth was very odd) that there was little emotional satisfaction in the resolution.
