In the third installment, Finlay and Vero are back! Finlay has now found herself in a sticky situation (again) and is technically hired by a Russian mob boss to find the contract killer that has been wreaking havoc. Finlay and Vero are given a tip that the contract killer is an officer so they decide to join the hot cop, Nick, at a week-long citizen’s police academy in hopes of finding out the identity of the killer. The chaos ensues.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun picks up right where the second book ended. I’ve said it before, but I will never get tired of joining in on the adventures of these characters and that is basically how I felt with this book too! It is always so gosh darn fun! A lot of the story is centered around the citizen’s police academy and I didn’t think this one was as exciting or fast-paced (except for a little bit at the end) as the previous two books, but overall I really enjoyed it! I really hope there will be more books in the series!

I 100% think the audiobook is the way to go (if you listen to audiobooks) because the narration by Angela Dawes is FANTASTIC. She nails Finlay’s character, but also is able to provide different tones and accents to fit the other characters too. It is such an enjoyable listening experience!

Thank you so much St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, Macmillan Audio, and Netgalley for the gifted copies!

I'm here for all of Finlay and Vera's adventures! They are always ridiculously over-the-top, but I have no problem suspending disbelief. I love how each books sets up what will happen in the next installment so now I just have to wait patiently until book 4 is published.

This third installment was mediocre at best. Usually I don't follow through with series and this is why. The magic is dying off and I'm not as interested in the characters as I was.

This book was a great addition to the Finlay Donovan series and I sincerely hope there are a lot more to come. I feel like this is a good book for those of us who love mysteries, but aren't that into a cozy mystery series. It gives those vibes without being overtly cozy. I have been reading Elle Cosimano for years, I love their YA & Adult books alike and I will continue to read them as long as they write. I can't wait for another Finlay book!

Elle Cosimano has done it again with her 3rd installment of Finlay Donovan’s shenanigans! Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun picks up with Finlay and her PIC, Vero, signing up for Nick’s citizens’ police academy for the some help with her writing. As this book unfolds you learn that one of officers in the police department may just be a bit crooked but can they piece it together before it costs them their lives? A love interest for Vero definitely peaked my interest in this book. Now I am counting down the days for book 4. *Thank you NetGalley, Elle Cosimano, St. Martin’s Press, and Minotaur Books for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my thoughts.*

What a treat! When I had the chance to read this third book in the series, I jumped at the chance because I'd heard such good things. One problem - I hadn't read the first two books, only heard those good things. I love a good series, and most of the time I don't like reading out of order. So I did something I rarely do - I read all three books almost (but not quite) consecutively. And it's a good thing I did, because this is definitely one of those series that should be read in order. But the thing that I worry about with reading books in a series back-to-back didn't happen. I didn't get bored with the characters or the stories - Cosimano has written these books with humor and heart and great characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the audio versions of all three - Angela Dawe does a great job conveying Finlay's humor and vulnerability, and with giving the different characters their own distinct voices. Can't wait for #4!
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing a copy for an unbiased review.

Finlay’s in a mess…again. Her editor’s looking for book rewrites and she’s got major writer’s block. Mob boss, Feliks, is pressuring Finlay to take out a contract killer before the cops do, through they may also be a cop. And, Vero’s secrets are catching up to her. Luckily, hot cop, Nick, is starting a citizen police academy and it might just be the solution to a few problems.

This is the third book in The Finlay Donovan series - it keeps getting better with each new book.

Book three keeps readers fed with the slapstick, situational jokes we’ve come to know and love, as well as allllll that sexual tension between Finlay and strapping men in her life. It’s pretty impressive Finlay and her sidekick/nanny/accountant, Vero, are still alive and thank goodness!

There’s not much to say without giving you spoilers, just know this is an easy, fun book you can fly through…even during a high speed chase.

I need to book 4 ASAP to see what Finlay and all of the people in her life get up to next!

I fell in love with Finlay Donovan within a few pages of the first book, and I’ve loved all of her adventures (and misadventures). These books are fun, light-hearted, quirky, and who doesn’t love a book with that couples friendship with quasi-crimes?

I have to admit that I am a bit against the grain of the Finlay fans, but this one got me on the bandwagon. I think I felt fully into what she was doing and I also feel that having her at the police training retreat and not having her children around, made the book more enjoyable for me. I laughed at the situations she got herself into and rooted for her all the way. I felt like I was commited to the characters and knew them all well. The bits of competition and the romance all landed perfectly for me. Excellent narration on the audiobook! I was in!

Elle Cosimano and Finlay hav3 done it again. I actually liked this better than book 2. Having Vero and Finlay attend a citizen's police academy set up a bunch of funny scenes as well as opportunities to try and catch the bad guys. There were some great throwaway laugh out lines as well. If you want over the top comedy combined with female friendship, family, and romance not to mention some pretty thrilling and suspenseful moments, highly recommend.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun was a continuation of a quirky and antics driven mystery. I enjoyed this 3rd book in the series and will look forward if the series continues in the future.

I CAN'T GET ENOUGH of Finlay & her sidekick nanny bestie Vero! As a toddler mama this hits home! The audio is also hilarious and such a great read. A super hit and perfect for a sunny read outside this summer! This is the third, you'll fly through them all. I had to wait in between and I'll for sure be binge reading again this summer!

I’m not sure I will ever be able to do justice to this series with words. It’s is just the perfect combination of humour, mystery, romance, and danger. The whole Finlay Donovan has dug herself into since book 1 is so hilarious and intriguing to follow. Her life is the most interesting chaos and I cannot get enough of it!
The audiobooks are incredible, and if possible make the story even better!
I cannot wait for the next book in the series!! The deeper this story goes, the better and better it is getting.
And if you’re just jumping into this series, I would highly recommend starting from Book 1! It will be a little confusing reading it out of order.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the complimentary audiobook in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Content: clean
Romance: kissing, closed door/fade to black
Violence: mild (in the same tune as previous books)
Language: moderate (same as previous books)

Finlay Donovan is at it again! In this third book of the series Finlay and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero just cannot stay out of trouble but they somehow continue to find a way to survive the trouble that they stir up. This time they are taking their trouble making ways to the citizen's police academy for a week of training. They should be safe there, but there are many people looking for this notorious duo. The Russian mob has contacted them that their debt is due and the boss Feliks wants them to find a contract killer, "EasyClean", before the cops. They determine that the killer might actually be a cop himself, so they find the perfect cover when Finlay's cop crush starts up a citizen's police academy and they are two of his recruits. While there they use their most outlandish strategies to uncover the killer while Finlay juggles motherhood, a budding romance, finishing her book and the people that want the answers much faster than she can uncover them. just when you think they have it figured out there is a twist that you don't see coming.
This book is a fun, lighthearted mystery with a lot of humor mixed in. This is definitely a series to not be taken too seriously. The plots are always a bit outlandish and that is what makes them fun and engaging. The friendship between Finlay and Vero is one of a kind and their unconventional ways tend make their troubles worse instead of better. They portray strong women who somehow juggle all the craziness in their lives in stride. Your best bet is to read the series in order and not as standalone books. there are too many connections between books and you may not catch all the storyline references without having prior knowledge of the series. The audiobook is very well done with the superb narration by Angela Dawes that perfectly brings these colorful characters to life.
Once again, Finlay and Vero left me wanting more and I look forward to more installments in this fast-paced, comical and full of adventure series!
I am grateful to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this fabulously fun audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

In the third installment of the Finlay Donovan cozy-mystery series, Finlay and Vero are faced with the daunting task of balancing two dangerous jobs. Along with this, they also attend a week-long police academy training program for citizens, tackle a problem involving a luxury car, track down an anonymous contract killer, and deal with Vero's past catching up to her. Although I have a fondness for Finlay and Vero, my feelings towards this book are impartial.

One aspect that I appreciated about Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun were the strong female characters, particularly Finlay and Vero who continue to impress me. Their friendship and partnership are truly admirable as they work together both in their personal and professional lives. Additionally, Cosimano's writing style is easy to read and makes for an addictive reading experience.

The romance in this book is another highlight, and I found myself invested in Finlay's love life. Although the love triangles from the previous books were less compelling, the outcome of the romantic subplot in this one left me satisfied.

Furthermore, the introduction of new police characters added humor and helped flesh out Nick's backstory. The increased focus on Vero's background was also appreciated, although there is still much more to uncover in the next installment.

On the other hand, I found this book to be overly chaotic and convoluted. The numerous subplots intended to bring everything together ended up being a little overwhelming and detracted from the main story. Additionally, while I was eager to learn more about Vero, her story felt somewhat neglected in favor of the many other plotlines.

The Finlay Donovan trilogy is a fun series that always kept me second-guessing who the bad guys were and had me hooting and hollering at the absurdity of Finlay’s predicaments😂

In book 3 we see Finlay attend a citizen’s police academy with her partner-in-crime & live-in nanny, Vero. Together, Finlay and Vero are on a mission to discover who the contract killer “EasyClean” is. Meanwhile Finlay is feeling pressure from the looming deadline for her next romantic suspense novel AND she can’t sort out her feelings for a certain good-looking police officer😍🔥

Overall, I enjoyed the plot of the story and the last 20% of the book had me GRIPPED!! There were just so many plot twists and revelations! Unfortunately, I have to admit that I enjoyed this story less than the prior two novels since the innuendoes were amped up a bit for my taste. More specifically, I didn’t enjoy how Finlay’s editor kept pressuring her to include more “spicy” content in the book she was writing… it just felt a bit overemphasized to me😔 But there was still a lot in the story that I loved! My favorite parts of the book had to be Finlay and Vero’s witty banter. Those two truly were a DYNAMIC DUO😂 I loved Vero’s saucy personality and the way she balanced out Finlay!

All in all, I am satisfied with how the loose threads from the previous two books were wrapped up in this fast-paced and swoony story!!

🚨CW: secular romance, fade to black, strong & mild language used throughout.

Finlay Donovan, single mom of two, is a riot with her side kick, 'accountant,' Vero. These two characters are like night and day and balance each other out very well. The laugh out loud riotous moments are plenty, mixed in with some intrigue and a who dunnit mystery.

The romantic tension is great, while Finlay is navigating those single waters again. And with a husband who wants to keep popping back into her life. This story explores relatable everyday challenges, mixed with some extreme hurdles.

Definitely a series I recommend to everyone! Such a well planned out series and I can't wait to see what more Elle Cosimano has in store!

Elle Cosimano's "Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" is a clever, twisty, and thoroughly enjoyable mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end. And the audiobook version, narrated by Brittany Pressley, is an absolute delight.

Pressley's narration perfectly captures the humor, wit, and heart of Cosimano's writing. She brings the characters to life with distinct voices and inflections, making it easy to keep track of who's who even as the plot twists and turns. Her delivery is lively and engaging, drawing the listener in and keeping them hooked from start to finish.

But what really sets the audiobook apart is the way that Pressley conveys the emotional depth of the story. "Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" is not just a whodunit; it's a story about a flawed but lovable protagonist who is trying to make a better life for herself and her children. Pressley brings out the vulnerability and humanity of Finlay Donovan, making her a character that listeners will root for and care about.

Overall, the audiobook version of "Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" is a must-listen for fans of mysteries, thrillers, and audiobooks in general. It's a fun, engaging, and emotional ride that will leave you eager for more.

I've read this series from book 1 and I feel like each book gets better than the last one. It was very entertaining and I even laughed out loud at some of the parts. The story ends on a cliffhanger so I can't wait for the 4th book to come out.

I listened to the audiobook and Angela Dawe did an amazing job narrating the story. The pace and different voices made it easy to follow along and I would read another narration by her.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this story.

Did not realize this was the 3rd in a series, so it took a little bit to get caught up. The writing is a little clunky which was probably a little more obvious because of the audiobook format. Low stakes mystery a la Mary Higgins Clark, not stressful but also not memorable.

ARC from the publisher via NetGalley, but the opinions are entirely my own.
