This series is just so fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and I love going into the books knowing that there will be a bit of ridiculousness but it will be fun, funny, a bit mysterious or suspenseful at times, heartfelt, and distracting. This addition to the series was actually even preferable to me than the second one and I enjoyed being reunited with this hilarious cast of characters. The romantic aspect of the storyline moved forward in a fun way. The set up of the setting & main plot point felt refreshing and interesting as Vero and Finlay attend "police academy" for a week as citizens to "research" her next novel. I really, really enjoyed some of the forward movement in some of the side characters' lives. Overall, while these books aren't perfect, they're just so enjoyable and I look forward to (hopefully) many more in the series.

The narration was so well done and pleasant to the ears ;)

Finlay is at it again and this time she's at a Police Academy for citizens trying to find the crooked cop while also working on her book and hey feelings. The two are at it again! Loved it!

Finlay Donovan is back!

I hadn’t read the previous books, so I decided to binge-read the whole series and I loved it!

Finlay Donovan is an author and a single mom whose husband left her for a another woman and who is now struggling to write her next novel. When she’s explaining her book’s murderous plot to her literary agent, a woman overhears their conversation and mistakes her for a contract killer, so she hires her to get rid of her shady husband. Of course, Finlay is not a killer, but while trying to do some research for her book she ends up getting into a messy situation that involves a real life murder investigation, the Russian mob, a hot law student and an attractive detective.

Throughout the series, Finlay and Vero (her nanny/accountant/bff) are going to do whatever it takes to protect their family while trying, again and again, to get away with murder.

In the third installment of the Finlay Donovan’s series, Fin and Vero find themselves at the center of a dangerous situation. Vero’s past and Finlay’s ties with the Russian mob forces them to enroll in a citizen’s police academy lead by detective Nick. Everyone is lying, everyone has secrets of their own and they know that they can’t trust anyone, not even the police.

This series has a little bit of everything; it’s a suspenseful cozy mystery full of humor and friendship. My favorite thing about this series is Vero and her relationship with Finlay. They truly are ride or die and Vero’s constant involvement in Fin’s romantic life is hilarious! Can’t wait to read more about this amazing duo and their very entertaining shenanigans.

Angela Dawe narrates the audio version of Finlay Donovan and she does a fantastic job at bringing the characters to life. I particularly enjoy listening to Finlay’s interactions with her kids.

Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for gifting me review copies of this great book.

This was a great third offering in the Finley Donovan series. The series gets better with each book. Some story lines were wrapped up but it left enough hanging to make me interested in any other sequels. Narrator is excellent - kept me engrossed in the story.

I've been so intrigued by the first two books in the Finlay Donovan series - but mostly due to weird plot points, a plethora of wrong place at the wrong time moments, and questionable characters. This third book had more boundaries placed upon Finlay and Vero since it mostly takes place within the confines of a police academy training, but I think that caused more opportunities for plot holes and questions to arise. Arguably the main characters did very little this time around (less accidental killing/adjacent killings) so they are beginning to be swept up by the Russian mob in unpredictable ways. I'm intrigued to see where the series goes, and I can very much understand why it is a fan favorite! I enjoyed it but ultimately, I'm left with more questions than answers....for the third book in a row...
What I can say is that I love narrator Angela Dawe, she really lends a lot of snark to her characters.

Cute book. It was actually my favorite of the series. The first two were kind of slow. I liked that this wrapped everything up and had a good story to go with it.

Oh Finlay, how I love you.

Finlay is back for book 3 and if you enjoyed the other 2 installments, this will surely be a big hit. Full of hilarity and hijinks, Finlay and her nanny, Vero, find themselves in more improbable scenarios.

I enjoyed the love angle, and I became an even bigger fan of Vero. She literally steals the show.

The book ends with a nice volley for book 4.

I’ve been wanting to read the Finlay Donovan books for awhile and this is was the motivation I needed to do so. Man oh man I wish I had started them sooner! This book was exactly what I hoped for! The story continued building, we had fun with the characters and the danger that comes along with it.

I was really excited to pick up this installment of the series but I’m left unconvinced if I’ll continue it in the future. The first book was my favorite and I still recommend it without hesitation. The second book had a bit of a sophomore slump feeling but it was worth reading. This book was boring and dragged. The antics weren’t funny anymore and the mystery didn’t keep my attention. I skipped through to the end and I’m glad I didn’t waste anymore time on this since it had a full cliffhanger??! I don’t mind something small to entice me to pick up the next book (I mean it’s already book 3?) but WHY?? It made it feel like even more of a drag and a filler book.

The audiobook performance was fantastic and very pleasant to listen to. I would happily pick up another book with the same narrator. I just wish the story itself kept my interest.

Thank you to the publisher for the advance audio copy via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC copy. I've been obsessed with this series since the beginning and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. This book was a riot, wildly imaginative, mysterious, and full of suspense. But the real winner will always be the crazy hijinks and fucked beyond all redemption shenanigans only Finlay can get up to.
💗🌸💚
I'm also glad that we got all the usual suspects, AKA Finlay's posse including Vero, her ex-husband, and new love interest. Even the kiddos made an appearance, and of course, served even more drama and humorous moments. This one ended with a great setup for book four and I cannot wait to see how it all plays out.

I was fortunate enough to interview Elle Cosimano (for a second time) about her Finlay Donovan series. Like I said to her, the experience of listening to this audiobook was like reconnecting with old friends. I had missed Finlay and Vero and was happy and excited to see what they were up to! The new setting of Citizens Police Academy helped the story feel fresh. Unlike books one and two, FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN definitely feels like a piece of a series and less of a complete book that could stand alone. Not to be read without the other two first.

Funny, winning Finlay is back with her trusty side kick/nanny/friend with mysterious past Vero. And so is Angela Dawe, the perfect narrator for this hip, contemporary series about a mystery writer that gets caught up in a mystery of her own that involves, her ex, lots of Russian goons, dead bodies and one hot cop. The setting of this one is a little far-fetched-- Community Cop Camp? But that's okay, we love Finlay and Vero and we're on board as the narrator ably sweeps us up to the conclusion of this three--part mystery. What's next, Finally?

This is the 3rd installment in this series that is ridiculous in the best way. I love these books for the fun the bring. Is it all very plausible? No. Do I want it to be? Also no. Finlay and Vero continue to find themselves somewhat working for the Russian mob while also attending a citizens police academy and trying to sort out personal stuff (like ex husbands, babysitting, oh and moving dead bodies). This book was fast and fun and made a great listening experience. While I am getting a little bored with the same people behind every mystery, I also look forward to how this will conclude.

Finnley Donavan continues to write a books, but her life is not getting any easier. While Russian is in prison he is still continues to threatening Finnley. Now Finnley wants to learn how to handle her own protection and goes to cap camp. Strange circumstances are following her there too but hot cop is there.

I love the Finlay Donovan series but have found that with each subsequent book in the series, I love it a little less. They are written like one big book instead of three separate books,—the new book begins literally five seconds where the previous book left off, and because it’s been a months, if not years, since I’ve read the previous book, I found that I was often confused as to what was happening. The first in the series was a strong four star read but this last installment was only a 2. I’ll continue to read the series but with less excitement next time.

I absolutely loved this entire series! It was hilarious, the moms parts were so relatable and it was a great break from the heavy books I have been reading. If there are more in this series, I will read every single one! Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC!

While I love this series, it’s my least favorite of the 3. I love the characters but I felt like there wasn’t as much to this one. If there will be a book 4, I’ll most likely read it as well but I’m really hoping it goes in a different direction.

This is another really fun installment in the Finlay Donovan world! I found this so easy to listen to as I knocked off things on my to-do list. I love that these books are a great break from the intense/fantasy/serious reads I always tend to gravitate towards to. Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is a funny, quirky, and a little bit romantic story, and I absolutely enjoyed it! I’m solidly on #TeamNick, and only wish we had more steamy moments 🔥 I really enjoyed that we learned more about Vero in this book, including her backstory and possible romances. She’s such a fun character and honestly is the BEST best friend for Finlay. Finlay and Vero keep getting themselves into the worst situations, and I can’t help but roll my eyes and laugh as they try to figure their way out.

The narrator is one of my favorites. She does a great job at all of the different voices, and I found it very easy to listen to. I listen on 2X and loved it! I’ll definitely be looking up this narrator to see what other books she has done.

Before I started this series, I really wasn’t sure if these books would be for me. I wasn’t 100% sold on the synopsis, and was worried they would be overhyped by bookstagram. After reading all 3 books in just one week, I can definitely say that I’m a Finlay Donovan fan!

3.75 stars
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, the 3rd book in the series, by Elle Cosimano, is a fun, whacky light-hearted almost cozy-mystery series. I’m not even sure how to classify this genre other than comical crime fiction that you can’t take too seriously, reminiscent of Janet Evanovitch’s Stephanie Plum series.

There is a lot going on in these books, and Finlay and Vero are up to their usual antics and escapades, living on the wild side of suburbia. There is suspense, parental humor, romantic tension, friendship camaraderie, secrets and mishaps, bad guys, good guys and anti-heroes, and a plot that carries it all.

This story continues the multi-faceted, ongoing plot. Finlay is still trying to finish her romantic suspense novel, free herself from ties to a Russian mob boss, figure out her love life, and get Vero out of debt. There is nonstop action, laughs and a strong segue into book four! The audio-version of this book is narrated by Angela Dawe, and I couldn’t recommend it more. She perfectly encapsulates the voices of the characters and really makes them come to life, she’s so much fun to listen to. I do highly recommend reading this series in order, and it’s one you won’t want to miss if you are in the mood for laughable, law-breaking shenanigans.
