Thank you so much to the publisher for the early read! I LOVED this story so much! It held my attention the whole way, was darkly twisted and engaging, and the characters were well fleshed out. Definitely would recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader copy of this book. I read anything North writes but this was probably my least favorite of his novels. The horror was just not as horrible as in his other stories. 3 stars.

It was definitely an interesting story concept and made me think A LOT. Unfortunately I was bored most of the time. It was.. forgettable…

I just loved The Whisper Man so much that I’m not sure any A.N book will be able to top it.

The narrator was really good though! I really enjoyed her inflections and accent!

Also, I think the creepy pedophile theme was really hard to read especially as a mother.

I was looking forward to this book. I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it. Maybe it was because I was listening to the audiobook but I was having a hard time following the story

This ended up being a DNF for me. The storyline was a jumbled mess and the POV constantly changing didn’t help. I wanted to like this so much because I’ve loved his other works. I will be back.

Another great book by Alex North! I definitely want to sit down and read this book again as opposed to listening it, but it was a good one!

Original, creepy, and engrossing as you’d expect any Alex North book to be. While I enjoyed the story, the multitude of characters and their multiple monikers, made it difficult to keep the details straight, especially on audiobook. This negatively impacted my listening experience despite the narrator being brilliant. Just too much of a distraction. Won’t be my last Alex North though as I think this was a one-off!

This was good but I was also super confused but I'm not sure if it was mostly my fault cause I was usually listening to it while doing other things. But it was still enjoyable and kept me engaged especially towards the end! I bet I'd I had physically read it I would have been less confused, maybe? But I did enjoy the audio!

This just was not for me. It was so muddled and really lost my attention after a while, because I was confused what was going on. I have read others say the same thing, so it's not just me.

Did not finish at 37% - this was more of a crime novel and less of a thriller than I was expecting. I had a difficult time connecting to any of the characters which made it hard for me to feel invested.

Creepy good time. Alex knows how to kick up the chill factor. Twists and turns with every page. One problem I had was the main female character, was not very likeable and didn't seem to focus as much on her child as she did digging into this mystery. But I would definitely recommend it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️rating

I was able to listen to the audiobook of this and I thought it was a very easy book to listen to. I have loved all of the Alex North’s books but this was not my favorite. I really liked how everything was connected in this story but I wasn’t too interested in what was going on or happening. With that being said, I would still recommend this book for mystery lovers!

Thank you @celadonbooks and @netgalley for the audiobook!

There are several different stories going on in this book. Katie, who's brother Chris was attacked when they were younger while he was supposed to be in her care, now has a family of her own and the guilt of what happened to her brother still haunts her and makes her at times overly paranoid with her young daughter. Now Christopher Shaw has gone missing and Katie feels it is up to her to find him. Alan Hobbes, a professor of fate, has just been found murdered in his home and Detective Larry Page has been put in charge of solving the crime. Jack Lock a serial killer from the 1950's who supposedly could see the future. Edward Leland, whom has never gotten over losing his missing son.
Wow, there is a lot going on in this book! I had a hard time following all the characters and keeping up with who was connected to who. There was also a lot of time jumping, which was not always made clear when it was happening. I was impressed with how it all came together but there are still a few little things I am confused about. I recommend writing things down as you go along as there is so much to keep up with. I think the narrator did a nice job but this is one of the rare instances that I think reading the physical book may be better just for the fact that it was very hard to follow. I did enjoy the story line and the ending but I think this could have been written in a better way that was a little less confusing. 3.5 stars rounded up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Alex North for allowing me to listen to an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I can honestly say when I started this audio book I was completely lost. The time period jumps were confusing but soon I figured it out and found myself sitting in the car to finish chapters.

This tells the story of a future decided and how everything is connected. I use to play the game six degrees of separation and that is basically the premise of this storyline.

The title of this book was such a small part of what this book was about

I didn't dislike the book but I didn't omg love it either. The narrator was enjoyable and definitely the reason I kept going

Suspenseful, deep and interesting. As others have mentioned, it is complicated and a bit slow to start so it takes some extra attention. For that reason, I think it may have been better if I had requested a print copy rather than the audiobook. As an audiobook it could be a little hard to follow. At the start especially I had to relisten to a few parts to fully understand what was going on. I enjoy this author very much, and the narrator is the audiobook was fine, but I think the format of this book better lends itself to print.

This story is about siblings Katie and Christopher Shaw and how they get tangled up with a murder that has dangerous consequences for them both.

Christopher was brutally attacked as a young boy and has never fully recovered and turned into a troubled young adult. Katie lives an idyllic life putting the past behind her. But when her brother goes missing and her daughter is being stalked, Katie is determined to go to any lengths to protect those she lives. What Katie doesn’t know is how her family ties in to the recent murder of Professor Hobbes and his fascination with a serial killer who was thought to see the future.

This one took me some time to get into. There were several storylines that later converged together but there were a lot of characters to keep track of. I started with the audio version but had to return to the ebook to help me manage the characters. The story was an interesting one and not as scary as the horror I was expecting. Fans of Alex North will surely enjoy his newest novel.

Thank you so very much to @netgalley and @celadonbooks for an early listening copy!

When I saw Alex North was releasing a new book I could hardly contain my excitement. I LOVED The Shadows and The Whisper Man. North has a way of adding supernatural elements that feel like they could really happen in real life. I listened to the Audiobook version of this one, but with all of the character development I would recommend reading a physical copy if you're one to lose focus easily or not quickly finish a book in a day or 2. The storyline requires a good deal of concentration. The Angel Maker was definitely intriguing and dark. It's more of a dark Crime/Detective story than a thriller. It wasn't my favorite out of the 3 I have read by North, but it was a great read overall.

The book begins with introducing Katy Shaw and her younger brother Christopher Shaw who is brutally attacked as a child by a deranged man named Michael Hyde. Decades later Katy and her brother Chris are estranged and Katy still suffers from the knowledge that she could have prevented her brothers attack. When Katy learns that Chris is missing she begins looking into his disappearance. Meanwhile detectives are looking into the murder of a Philosophy Professor and believe Chris to be responsible. The author seamlessly weaves storylines about Katy, Chris, The Philosophy Professor and a serial killer who was believed to be able to see the future. In the end he melds those stories together into one beautiful and dark big picture.

A special thank you to the author, Celadon Books and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’m sure you’ve seen Angel Maker making the rounds on bookstagram.

Briefly this book is a dark thriller about the mysteries of fate, the unbreakable bond of siblings and a notorious serial killer who was said to know the future.

Do you ever read a book and think…there is a lot going on here but I don’t know what going on? This was me throughout this entire book. So many characters, so many different storylines and a slow pace made this one tough to slug through. If I had to describe this book in one word it would be confusing.

suspenseful and thrilling novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The audiobook version, narrated by Rosalie Craig, adds an extra layer of depth and emotion to the story, bringing the characters to life in a way that is both engaging and captivating

There are a lot of different perspectives and timelines in this one, which didn't allow the book to flow that well. I still enjoyed the mystery aspect though. This would have been a great read if the characters had been a little more developed. I thought the narrator did a good job setting the tone of this book.
