The Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy
This is book 3 of the Avalon Bay series. Cassie is visiting the bay for the summer and staying with her grandmother. She grew up here, but once her parents got divorced, she moved north. Around the time Cassie left, Tate's family arrived. Tate teaches sailing lessons and helps run his family's business. He's a bit of a playboy, but also a sweet and sunshiny character.
I love both characters it was a fun and relaxing read. This one was my favorite so far in the series. It is a great beach read for the summer. It is hard to have just a fling and Cassie being a virgin and just wanting a summer fling. In comes the handsome Tate who doesn't commit to women he just likes having fun. Did Tate meet his match with Cassie?
I highly recommend this one it is a solid romance novel, and most romance lovers will be swooning over Tate and Cassie's relationship. Narrated by Caitlin Elizabeth and Teddy Hamilton who really does a good job bringing Cassie and Tate alive as well as the other members of the Avalon Bay community. This is a four-star read for me.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the e-arc/ audiobook for an honest opinion.
Please take in mind it’s my opinion, and everyone is allowed to have one.
I actually listened to the Audiobook, and I liked it! Here was the thing for me, it started of
f great, till we got to the middle that kinda bored me (felt it was kinda predictable), after that it ended with a BANG! This did have everything I liked, like slow burn? SIGN ME UP! I did relate to Cassie’s character a lot, so that’s saying something.
Also shoutout to the narrators because I liked both, they were a great choice.
Out of the 3 Avalon Bay’s books is this one my favorite for sure. Hope we are getting more books!

When I first joined Bookstagram, everyone was talking about how good Elle Kennedy's Off Campus series was and I have to say the Avalon Bay series, imo, may be even better! Hot, blue-collar heroes and women who are either locals to the South Carolina beach town or are from wealthy families.
The Summer Girl is about Cassie, who is a virgin who wants a summer fling. She picks Tate, but he thinks she's the type of girl who wants a relationship and offers to be her friend/wingman, which doesn't last long because they get close and talk and one thing leads to another...
This is THE PERFECT summer romance! Beach setting, great characters, fun group of friends, town beach games...it's everything!! And the steam...woooo!

Thank you to the publisher for the arc.
I’ve come to the realization this author just isn’t for me: the beginning of this seems pretty decent but it just drags to no end to the point where I could care less about the characters. Don’t reccomend

I would label this book as the perfect summer read for teenagers, despite the spice, but it is giving a mixture of Aquamarine and H2O….just without the mermaid part. It was definitely an easy read to help reach the goal for the year but I don’t see myself picking it up again.

I love this Avalon Bay series and this was a good addition. Not my favorite of the series but it’s a good summer read with a little bit of spice!
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I liked this book much more than I thought I would, and I plan to check out more of the author's titles. Great characters, a fun storyline, and excellent writing.

This book got spicy! It was a fun beach read, and my only complaint was that I hadn’t read the other two books in the series prior to this. While they are not imperative to read in order, I would have appreciated knowing more about the other characters - I felt it would have increased my rating on this book. I’m definitely going to check out the other two and get up to speed in Avalon Bay! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Cassie Soul has not spent an entire summer in Avalon Bay since moving with her mom to Boston, but since her Grandma, Lydia Tanner is selling the family's Beacon Hotel, she is spending her last summer before college graduation there. What better way to ring in her 21st birthday and maybe find a willing guy for a summer fling. When Cassie awkwardly meets Tate Bartlett, she thinks he may be the perfect guy. At first Tate seems agreeable, but then decides to put Cassie in the friend zone. Of course the more time these two spend together, the more the chemistry starts to sizzle until Tate finally gives in.
In what starts as a no-relationship type fling quickly turns into something more. Just when summer is starting to end, and it looks like Tate and Cassie have found real love, the past comes crashing back in to make their entire worlds fall apart. Tate and Cassie both have to stand on their own two feet to take their lives back. Dreams don't always end up the way you hope, but sometimes something out of the ordinary comes bouncing back and things settle the way they should....with a happy ending.
I loved this temporary summer relationship that turned into something much more. I just adored Tate and Cassie. They both were such great characters. I enjoyed the interaction with their families and friends. Plus I was completely blown away by the bombshell dropped towards the end of the story....never saw that one coming! At least at the end Tate and Cassie got their perfect happy ever after.

I love this Avalon Bay series. I am really hoping Elle Kennedy keeps this going. I loved the relationship between Cassie and Tate and her grandmother.

I absolutely ate this book up! Rate and Cassie are two fun-loving people who are both just looking for a summer fling. After trying to resist each other, one finally caves and they embark on a fun-filled summer. Tate and Cassie are so cute together they were both sweet and caring and we’re definitely made for each other! This book was filled with fun laughs with all the Avalon Bay friends from the series as well as family drama that helped form and break family relationships! Tate and Cassie are both golden retrievers in my book and it is impossible to dislike either one of them! Tate is such a romantic, my head melted so many times, I love him. This is definitely my favorite book of the series! This book was a fun and steamy friends-with-benefits summer romance! I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend!

This is the summer read I didn’t know I was missing!! Elle Kennedy surprised me by taking a light & fluffy summer read and throwing in some major feels.
Good girl Cassie is looking for a summer fling & thinks Tate will be the perfect candidate. He’s known for his hook-ups, but he insists they’re better as friends. They quickly develop a friendship and spend most of their free time together. Cassie is desperate to get her summer fling. The story evolves with family drama, a toxic parent, summer ending, and found feelings.
Things I loved:
•summer
•small beach town
•grandma
•text messages
•summer fling
•toxic parent
•unexpected family drama
•nod to Briar University
Loved it! Highly recommend! Thank you for the e-arc in exchange for an ho eat review!

I absolutely adored this book! This is my favorite out of the whole series hands down.
I love a mix of good boy player and a good girl who just wants some fun. Sprinkle in some family drama and you have a winner!
I absolutely ate up their love story and adored their friendships. I loved that they had lives outside of each other, him with sailing and her with writing a children’s book!

Another trip back to Avalon Bay! This one follows Cassie as she returns to spend one last summer with her grandma after the sell of the family resort. Cassie meets Tate who is house sitting next door. A tale of a summer fling that becomes so much more. This story is full of family drama and twists! Another great ready by Elle Kennedy

The small-town beach setting was one of my favorite parts of The Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy. Initially, I didn’t realize this was the third in the Avalon Bay series. The setting in this one, coupled with the glowing Avalon Bay reviews, encouraged me to add the first two to my TBR.
The Summer Girl tells the story of two newish neighbors looking for a casual romance. Inevitably, they are surprised when their relationship turns serious. This story felt more like a character study romance which isn’t typically my type of read. I wanted more of a storyline. The characters found an immediate mutual attraction to one another. I would have preferred to watch their chemistry build throughout the story to feel more connected to their relationship. That said, there were moments in the story when I felt hooked, and Kennedy’s writing style reminded me of authors like Helena Hunting and Penny Reid.
I wouldn’t say pass on this one; I’d just say it wasn’t my favorite. Read this if you’re into beachy, romance reads with a twenty-something college feel.

Thank you to NetGalley, Elle Kennedy, and St Martin’s Griffin for the ARC! Lighthearted romcom mixed with a little drama creates a recipe for a great summer/beach read! This was a wonderful follow up to the first two in the series, and it leaves you hoping for more. Can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s nice to have read the others to know some of the names mentioned.

While this isn't my favorite Elle Kennedy book, I definitely still enjoyed this one! If you are looking for a light and easy summer read, then The Summer Girl is your book!
Cassie is looking for one last fling before she enters her last year of college. And when Tate turns her town, they become friends and Tate becomes her wingman. But things aren't that easy when feelings are involved.
This was a good friends to lovers book in the series! Looking forward to reading the others.

The Summer Girl is the 3rd book in the Avalon Bay series and dare I say is the best so far?
The characters, their backstory and the whole strangers/neighbors to friends to lovers/fling was done so well. I loved Cassie and Tate as friends and as more.
Cassie is visiting her grandmother for the summer in Avalon Bay. She does this each summer, but this one is kind of significant since her grandmother has sold The Beacon, which was her hotel they had for 50 years (this was part of a storyline from the first book). But it's also a time to get away from school in Boston and from her mother that is a real piece of work. It also brings her closer to her half siblings and her dad. But the one thing she is looking forward to is having a fling. Someone to hang out with and to do more with.
Tate is the happy go lucky "golden retriever" sort of MMC. He is a notorious dater, but all of his past girlfriends have nothing but good things to say about him. He is housesitting next door to Cassie's grandmother like he does each summer, working at his family's boat shop and at the yacht club. It's a busy summer, but he enjoys his time outside and on the water and a newfound friendship with the girl next door.
I liked the fact that Tate took Cassie under his wing and their friendship felt real. Every step and building block to their relationship was built on honesty and truth. I truly felt their chemistry and the way their friendship built over time. Even if they may have been initially physically attracted to each other, it was the friendship that helped them build what they could have. Tate, his family and his friends balance him out and he's just a really genuinely nice guy. But sweet, awkward Cassie is almost the opposite. She comes from a divorced family that has caused her trauma and her mother is a narcissistic b**ch. It was a wonder that Cassie could always find the silver linings in just about anything.
This story was light and fun, but also dealt with some serious topics that helped balance out this summer beach read. I loved Cassie and Tate and the supporting characters were just as entertaining.
The Summer Girl is a great addition to the Avalon Bay series and makes for a perfect summer read.

BOOK REVIEW: The Summer Girl by @ellekennedyauthor first off i would like to give a shoutout to Elle, @stmartinspress & @netgalley forthe chance to read and review this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cassie and Tate’s story was seriously the cutest this book is the third book in the Avalon Bay series this is the first book from elle ive read!

This is my third Elle Kennedy book and probably my favorite! It’s a strangers to friends to lovers trope and I truly loved the dual POV chapters (especially on audio! The narrators did an incredible job).
Cassie is looking for a summer fling full of passion and no commitments and when she and Tate kiss sparks fly. But Tate doesn’t believe that no strings work and decides he should just be Cassie’s wingman.
But as they both help each other break out of their shells and have better communication around what they want in life, they can’t help but just see where this thing goes.
Tate was such a great book boyfriend and I loved how he got Cassie to be more assertive. He’s a self reformed eff boy and we love to see it. And Cassie is strong and such a good caregiver. She loves hard and watching g her out herself first was so refreshing!
I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend audio too!
