I recently read The Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy, and I must say that it was a delightful and heartwarming read. The book follows the story of Cassie Soul, a college student who returns to her hometown of Avalon Bay for the summer to spend time with her family and maybe find a summer fling. On her first night in town, she meets Tate Bartlett, Avalon Bay's fun-loving golden boy, and the two embark on a journey of friendship, love, and self-discovery.

The author has done an excellent job of creating a relatable and endearing protagonist in Cassie. Through her struggles with her family and her search for love, we see how she grows and develops as a person. The book is also a reflection of the importance of family and the challenges that come with it.

One thing that stood out to me was the author's ability to create a sense of nostalgia and warmth throughout the book. The setting of Avalon Bay is charming and idyllic, and the characters are well-developed and endearing. The book is a perfect mix of romance and comedy, and the chemistry between Cassie and Tate is electric.

Overall, The Summer Girl is a delightful and heartwarming read that will leave you feeling happy and satisfied. The author has created a relatable and endearing protagonist in Cassie, and the book is a reflection of the importance of family, love, and self-discovery. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies, heartwarming stories, and books that make you feel good.

This is/was the perfect summer read. The chemistry, the banter, the "can't wait until they realize they have REAL feelings for each other... it's all so perfectly Elle Kennedy.

The Summer Girl: An Avalon Bay Novel by Elle Kennedy is book 3 in the Avalon Bay series. This book looks like the perfect summer read. I really loved the cover and thought it sounded interesting. It was not at all what I expected. I found the book very superficial and only later had some interesting elements. Okay read overall. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I read this back in October, but I needed more time to process my thoughts on this. And this was the perfect book to end my summer reading. I really felt the summer vibes and I was actually in Avalon Bay. Also, I personally listened to this on audio and it was very entertaining to read.

The characters and writing are solid; I loved the dynamic between all the friends and the couples from the previous books. But as for this book, I adored Cassie and Tate’s relationship and seeing their individual characters development throughout. The writing kept me enthralled the entire time.

Overall, this was a fun and entertaining read; I would highly recommend reading—not just this third book—but this whole series.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first Elle Kennedy book I've read. I've heard great things about her and they were right. This is the third book in the Avalon Bay series. Trust me, you don't have to read the the other 2 before you read this one. It can stand alone. If you're looking for a book that's easy to read and doesn't create stress, then this is the book for you. It has hot sex scenes and a story to go along with it. I will definitely check out the other books in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley, Elle Kennedy and St Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Cass is a summer girl, a girl that only comes to Avalon Bay during the summer and stays in her families summer house before going back home in the fall. But Cass hasn't always been a summer girl, she used to be a local before her parents divorce sent her mom and her to Boston. But now Cass is back for one final summer to help her grandma pack up her home to move to Boston, and also to say goodbye to the hotel that has been in her family for decades, which has now opened under new ownership. While in Avalon Bay for the summer, Cass has one thing on her personal to-do list- find a hot guy and have a whirlwind summer fling to lose her virginity before going back to school to finish her senior year. But so much of that changes when she meets Tate, a local who is house sitting the home next to grandma's all summer. The two start slow and as friends, but when they keep being pushed together and can no longer deny the attraction they feel for each other, they finally start Cass's summer fling she's been dreaming of. Of course though, the story is never that easy, and things get turned on their head at the grand re-opening of the hotel when Cass's narcissistic mother reveals that Tate's dad actually had an affair with her 11 years ago. This new information shatters both Cass and Tate's world's, and leads to them breaking off their relationship.

Overall, I think this has been my favorite Avalon Bay novel so far. There was no weird pre-established relationship, no bet to get back at the clones, just two people trying to do the no-strings fling. It was all good fun and I love that Cass's mom got her comeupits (? I thought this was a real word but now I'm questioning myself). Idk, I just really enjoyed this story, and all the growth and character development.

This the third book in the Avalon Bay series of interconnected standalones. I had not read an Elle Kennedy book before but have seen her books highly recommend so I was excited to get to read this. Cassie and Tate had great chemistry and it was fun to see how their relationship unfolded. Perfect read for a relaxing day at the beach!

This was my favorite book of the Avalon Bay series. It could be read as a standalone, but it's helpful to have read the others to know who the characters are.

I enjoyed the relationship that Cassie and Tate built. I genuinely enjoyed their interactions.

Thank you St. Martins Press, Elle Kennedy, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Now I do enjoy Elle Kennedy’s books, especially her hockey series and I think I was looking for that same thing in this book and series, but unfortunately it fell a little flat for me, but not entirely.

I really liked how the characters in this one were more likable than the last one. There’s a lot less bad communication and toxicity which made it an easier read. That being said, it was such a slow start that I really had a hard time getting into it and wanting to finish reading the book.

Overall it was good, but not my favorite. I would probably rate it 3.5 stars but will round up to 4 because of my love for Elle!

The Summer Girl is a great combo of beach read and friends to lovers romance. I did feel like readers would benefit from having read the other titles in the series, but it was enjoyable as a standalone too.

This book was my first introduction to Avalon Bay- and I loved it!! I loved the main characters in this story and all the supporting characters. I felt that they all had genuine connections as friends/relationships. I did not expect to cry in this story, but man it hit me hard when Cassie stood up for herself and confronted her parents. I loved her developing relationship with her dad and step mom, and I was soooo proud of Cassie for standing up to her mom and making the hard decision to walk away and live her life how she wanted. The romance between Tate and Cassie was so sweet and cute I couldn't help but root for them as they're connection developed/progressed. I cant wait to read more of the Avalon Bay series by Elle Kennedy! Would highly recommend this book!

Thank you St. Martin's Press, NetGalley, and Elle Kennedy for this ARC copy of Summer Girl in exchange for an honest review.

The Summer Girl is book #3 in the Avalon Bay Series by Elle Kennedy and I am here for this series. While you can read this book as a stand alone, it is better to read the entire series to get background knowledge on Avalon Bay and the characters.

Cassie's grandparents owned the hotel The Beacon and has sold the hotel and her home in Avalon Bay. Cassie goes to spend one last summer with her grandmother and it determined to find a summer fling. Insert Tate, just broken up with and happens to be Cassie's neighbor for the summer. The pair decide maybe they should just be friends and Tate helps Cassie as her wingman. Can Tate let Cassie be with someone else?

The Summer Girl is an amazing addition to the Avalon Bay Series. It has small town romance, opposites attract, slow burn, friends to lovers...what more do you need?

I did not realize this was part of a series but I still enjoyed it! I like the writing style and found it to be a light, breezy, romance book. I typically read thrillers but I needed a palate cleanser and I think this was the perfect one!

I recommend this book if you like beach reads and romance! I will be checking out the rest of the series

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for a copy of this work in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!

Having read the first two books in the Avalon Bay series as well, I would say this book follows the same writing style, so depending on how you feel about those books, you will likely feel similarly about this one. It is a quick, easy, small town romance book that doesn't make you think too hard, which is sometimes fun to read, especially in the summer or by a pool/beach.

The main characters are people we have been introduced to in previous books but it definitely could be read as a standalone and I don't think you would miss out on too much, other than some of the dynamics of the relationships.
