I was smitten with this book the moment I opened it. It has all the summertime feels wrapped in one delightfully spicy romance.

Tate is the epitome of a summer boy. He’s the guy I wish for during my summers. He’s the playboy that lives in swim trunks with a devilish grin and oozes charm, but he’s has the biggest heart. There’s no other author who can write a playboy as well as this one can.

It’s rare for me to enjoy a lead female character as much as the male, but with this book I was so bewitched with Cass. She was so endearing, kind, and aloof. I enjoyed that the author didn’t make her the unrealistic stereotypical naive, virginal girl. She’s quirky, funny, and owns her sexuality. She was written like an actual 21 year old and I appreciate that the author made her into more than a character in a book.

The way this story is written it captures the realities and intricacies of life and love. This book doesn’t sugarcoat the complexities of love, growing into adulthood and carving your own path, and the complications of family relationships. There’s a lot more to this book than just your typical summer romance. This book will not only entertain you with its witty dialogue, but also capture your heart with well thought out characters and plot. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for this ARC

This was my first Elle Kennedy book and I absolutely loved it! Cassie, like most of us, has a complex family history that left its mark on her. As her character arc progresses, she admirably puts in the work to deal with her childhood trauma and insecurities. The MMC, Tate, is an absolute cupcake. The tension between him and Cassie was so satisfying that I didn't feel in a rush at all to get to the spicy bits (but thoroughly enjoyed them when I did). If you love the friends-to-lovers trope, do yourself a favor and get a copy of The Summer Girl!

A joyous, adventurous and great read for any beach lover.

First i’d like to thank NetGalley, Elle Kennedy and Avalon for an Arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve always loved Elle’s writing style, I believe her books are super easy to follow along with and the plot always keeps me entertained.

This is the third book in the series however it can be read as a standalone which is what I did l. It is dual pov and has a hea.

We follow the love story between Tate and Cassie as they find themselves intertwined and drawn to themselves. They want to keep things casual but we all know how that goes :). The spice is super cute and sweet.

We get to read Cassie who struggles with some body insecurities from dealing with some family trauma. I loved reading about her learning to love herself and her body and we get to watch Tate stand up for himself and set realistic expectations and boundaries with those around him.

Elle’s writing is so good I didn’t see any of the big twists coming however the foreshadowing was extremely well executed.

I found this to be a breath of fresh air and these characters easy to fall in love with, I cannot wait to read the first two books in the series because I don’t think this book gave too many spoilers.

The Summer Girl is a solid beach read, a light hearted dual POV friends to lovers romance. I really like both Cassie and Tate as a character and found their initial friendship really charming. Both characters are spending the summer at Avalon Bay, Cassie revisiting her hometown and Tate in his current hometown. This book explores the trials and triumphs of family and is a cute summer read. I found the beginning a little bit slow to get into but about half way through I was really hooked and didn’t want to stop reading. I recommend this book if you are looking for a light friends to lovers summer read!

Thank you netgalley and the publishers at St. Martin's Press for the copy of the e-arc for exchange for a honest review.

The Summer Girl is book 3 in the Avalon Bay series by Elle Kennedy, and probably the favorite of the series so far.

Book number 3 follows the dual pov of views of Cassie, and former Avalon Bay resident is back for the summer and looking for that summer fling and Tate, the boy house sitting next door and not looking for a commitment.

While an amazing kiss at a friend's house, Cassie is very eager to make Tate her fling for the summer, but Tate is is quick to friend zone.

I really enjoy see their relationship grow to friendship and so much more. However, and could really gone without the Victoria ( Cassie's mom) story line and how she caused the huge conflict between to the two (and others as well).

I look forward what else is to come from Elle Kennedy and hopefully more from Avalon Bay.

This was such a cute book ! I loved Cassie and Tate . I loved watching the characters develop throughout the book and loved the spice. I like that although this is part of a series it also can be read as a standalone . I also loved that this book was put in dual pov so we could see both what Cassie and Tate were thinking throughout the story . As always Elle Kennedy wrote another cute book that made my heart happy

Thank to NetGalley and Elle Kennedy for this arc !

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of Elle Kennedy’s latest amazing book!

I should tell you Elle Kennedy is a must read author for me! I love her writing. Her characters are multifaceted who I literally fall in love with.

The Summer Girl is the third book in her Avalon Bay series and frankly it is my favourite. This book centers on Tate (oh Boy he is the BEST BOOK BOYFRIEND since Garrett Graham). He loves his family, he is a good friend and he makes a great wingman. He meets a sweet, bumbling, inexperienced Cassie who sees the silver lining in every situation. I loved her!!!!! Her over sharing and bumbling were something I could do relate to!
This was a perfect friends to lovers story! The chemistry between them was so good and kept me reading until 3 AM!
You should read if you love :
Dual POV
Friends to lovers
Neighbours
Great friend group
Awkward funny banter
Sweet nicknames (seriously I’m dying my hair)
🔥🔥🔥

I can’t not mention an epic phone conversation and window scene that left me breathless.

What I didn’t like?!?! Cassie’s mother! She is EVIL so really I loved it all!

Elle Kennedy you are wonderful storyteller and I love delving into the worlds you create!

I am loving Avalon Bay and this was no exception! Elle Kennedy is such a fun author and I adore this beach town. This was one of my most anticipated reads and I'm so happy to be able to dive into it early! Cassie and Tate have been some of my favorite side characters in the other novels so I was so happy to be able to read their story!

The Avalon Bay series is everything I want from a beachtown romance: fluff, angst, chemistry, and spice. The Summer Girl is no exception.

The Summer Girl follows Cassie as she spends the summer in Avalon Bay looking for her first ever summer fling.

Cassie and Tate have great chemistry and angst together. Their moments together leading up to their eventual coupling are fire hot. I couldn’t turn the paces fast enough.

The reason I rated the novel four stars instead of five is because the final hurdle Cassie and Tate needed to pass for their happily ever after was unnecessary and useless. It was all resolved in a few pages and added nothing of substance to the story, characters, or relationships.

Since The Summer Girl is the third in the series, the characters from the previous novels are sprinkled throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the check ins, but reminded me that Bad Girl Reputation is still my favourite of the series by a significant margin.

Overall, The Summer Girl is a fun and spicy novel about a summer fling that turns into something more. It’s not the best of the series, but it’s a close second.

I loved the Off Campus series and I just started Briar U. I have not read the first 2 books in the Avalon Bay series, but I definitely will after reading this! The Summer Girl is a quick and easy read that I really enjoyed. I think it can be read as a standalone if you don't want to read the entire series. I loved the summer vibes in this book, and I think it would be a fun beach read. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Elle Kennedy for this ARC!

“I know I said a lot of things before. I didn’t want a relationship. This would end in September. There was no pressure. I know I said all those things. But something’s changed. I don’t know how, but it just has, and now I’m in love with you.”

-friends to lovers, dual pov, small town/beach setting, Avalon Bay Series Book #3
-Cassie returns to Avalon Bay amidst the sale of her grandma’s boardwalk hotel and meets playboy Tate who also happens to be her neighbour 🌾⛅️🛥️🌊
-after rejecting Cassie’s suggestion of being her summer fling, Tate ends up being her wingman instead
-their moments were actually so sweet and I loved their friendship and how it developed into something more 🥹💞
-I so badly wished the twist could’ve been anything ANYTHING but that 😭
-thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for letting me read this ✨

Thank you, Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for sending me an advance copy of The Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy! I’m a big Elle Kennedy fan and truly enjoy all of her books and series. I think this might be my favorite book in the Avalon Bay series, so far! I could not put it down and really enjoyed seeing Tate and Cass’s relationship develop from friendship to more. The supporting characters, backstory and plot twists were well written and definitely added to how much I enjoyed this book! It was seriously laugh-out-loud funny and is the perfect summer romance you didn’t know you needed! It releases July 18, 2023, but while you wait, be sure to read the other two books in this series Good Girl Complex and Bad Girl Reputation!

Spending time in Avalon Bay always satisfies my reading heart. I love the charm of this little seaside town and the characters who reside there. This third installment works readers with the same magic and easily allows hearts to be captured by the two main characters. Tate and Cassie have great chemistry and banter that moves their story fluidly. I will say Elle Kennedy put a twist in there that I never saw coming that was intriguing and heart breaking. Kennedy's writing and story telling chops are always great.

I’ve been sucked into the Avalon Bay series ever since Good Girl Complex came out. I’m not going to lie, Bad Girl Reputation fell a bit short for me but this one really revived the series as a whole for me. This book is a total escape and it was so fun to read.

What I loved:

- I really enjoy Elle Kennedy’s writing style as a whole! I find it easy to follow, I love the spice and she keeps me entertained.
- This was my favorite couple and favorite book from the Avalon Bay series.
- Cassie. I just really loved Cassie! She’s relatable, sweet, but not naive like some FMC’s I’ve read lately in romance novels.
- The banter between Cassie and Tate is so good. It’s fun, flirty and everything I wanted!
- This is the perfect summer read and honestly I’ll probably reread this summer!

* Note: This is the 3rd Avalon Bay book, but can be read as a standalone (seriously though, if you like this one, read the others!)

If you’re looking for friends to lovers with some small town and summer vibes, definitely add this one to your list!

A massive thank you to NetGalley, Elle Kennedy and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Elle Kennedy is the true queen of romance! Spicy AND sweet, her novels follow fully fleshed and developed characters with true conflict and realistic day-to-day commentaries. Cassie and Tate's relationship is both one of powerful tension and sensual, playful energy that makes them not just likable, but lovable. They may be my favorite of the Avalon Bay couples! True romance readers will not want to miss out on any of Elle's books!

Ohhh I was so excited to see this available. I enjoyed the first two in the Avalon Bay series, but this one felt a little lackluster to me. Things I enjoyed, characters finding themselves and their success. I liked that these characters don’t have a problem with binge drinking as much as the first two books. Things I did not enjoy: flawed sailing jargon and the over done parent issues.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC.

So I actually didn't realize that this was part of a series but it worked as a standalone which I appreciate. It was really easy to get immersed in the story and I devoured this book! I loved the spice, dialogue, and characters. The writing felt effortless and it made it easy to read this book quickly. I'm a fan and now I must go back and read the other books!

I devoured this book. Like sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner after not eating for 2 days. DEVOURED. IT.

Quick recap: Cassie is in Avalon Bay for the summer before her senior year of college. She decides it's time she finally gets a summer fling. All of her friends have had one the past and Cassie feels like this is her last chance to have that dreamy romantic summer with a stranger. Tate seems like the perfect guy for it. He's not into serious relationships and is known for random hookups. The two become friends, but worry that feelings will get involved if they decide to "fling it".

This is the 3rd book in the Avalon Bay series and so far my favorite. Each book seems to get better than the last. I loved both Cassie and Tate. They have great chemistry and banter. I also like how different their upbringings are and how that sways their view of relationships. Tate was raised by the seemingly perfect parents, while Cassie's had a bitter divorce when she was 10 and she was stuck living with her cruel, narcissistic mom.

I loved the ending. The conflict actually made sense, and wasn't some silly misunderstanding that usually drives couples apart in romance novels. I definitely recommend this one to any friends to lovers fans.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
