L H Stacey ramps up the tension in her chilling new thriller, The Weekend.

Lizzie had been head over heels in love with Thomas Kirkwood. Rich, handsome and charismatic, Thomas had bowled Lizzie over when they were students and she would have done anything he would have asked of her. Lizzie had hoped to have a future with Thomas, however, all her hopes and dreams for a lifetime with him had been smashed to smithereens when, on the night of their graduation, Thomas’ body had been found floating in the family lake in Kirkwood Manor. What happened to Thomas Kirkwood that night? Was it a tragic accident? Did all the drinks and drugs he consumed inadvertently lead to his death? Or was Thomas Kirkwood murdered?

After that horrible night, Lizzie had vowed never to return to Kirkwood Manor ever again. However, a decade after that horrible night, Lizzie is invited back to the place that holds such terrible memories for her for a memorial weekend for Thomas organised by his mother, Ada who is still grieving the tragic loss of her son ten years later. However, this no ordinary weekend because Ada has gathered all the people closest to her son to catch his killer – whatever it takes…

Creepy, twisted and terrifying, L H Stacey’s The Weekend is a heart-pounding thriller that will keep readers turning the pages into the early hours of the morning. Fast-paced, brilliantly plotted and dripping with menace, suspense and atmosphere, The Weekend is the latest hugely enjoyable thriller from L H Stacey.

Although the beginning of this book was slow, this book is still worth reading. I struggled with the characters because I didn’t particularly like any of them, but the plot was interesting enough, and the pacing does pick up. Unfortunately, not my favourite read of the year, but still worth a read.

A good read, lots of tension and atmosphere and I enjoyed the past and present narrative. Good twist at the end too.

As every thriller reader must hope for, this book left me guessing what would happen next. I found the story to be tense and I was unable to put the book down. I read into the wee small hours and was absolutely gripped.
It’s hard not to take to Lizzie, and to experience the nervousness that she feels at returning to such a tragic part of her past. Ada, Thomas, and William’s mother is an out and out snob who I felt no sympathy for. Her controlling, manipulative ways contributed to her son’s death without a doubt. She was not complicit to his final moments, but they were certainly a result of her actions.
I cannot praise this book enough and really hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did. I’m sad it ended.

Originally, I was super excited for this read. Really enjoyed the premise and it seemed like a good fit, but after a few chapters I realised that it just didn’t grip me like I had anticipated. Even though I’ve tried a few times after to pick it up and continue, I’ve sadly had to DNF it.

This one definitely had potential but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. It started a little slow and there were lots of characters to keep up with and at times I struggled to differentiate them.

The second half of this book was much better and the ending was twisty but a little predicable.

This book I had high hopes for. I think there was a lot of potential but it just didn’t do it for me. But I will def try any other books the author writes!

That Lake. This house. His friends. They all know what happened to my boy. I know they do. And you... you have to help me find the truth...

A weekend to remember…

Ten years ago, deeply in love, I would have done anything for Thomas Kirkwood.

But on the night of our graduation, fuelled by drink and drugs, Thomas’s lifeless body was found floating in the Kirkwood family lake. That weekend changed everything, and I swore I would never return to Kirkwood manor.

A weekend to forget…

Now, ten years later, I have been invited back to the place that holds such terrible memories for me, to a memorial weekend for Thomas, organised by his still-grieving mother Ada.

But this is no ordinary weekend. This is a reunion to catch a killer…and I fear that I could be top of Ada’s list….

This is a thrilling read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This story had a lot of potential, but just felt a little flat for me. I didn't really click with our main character, Lizzie. I did enjoy the use of the alternative timelines.

I really had a hard time with this book! Found it difficult to understand and read at times. Nearly finished but was so fed up with plodding through it that I gave up. Not a great book for me, personally.
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publishers for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is a new author for me, but I think I'll read more of her work. Even though I figured out who killed Thomas pretty early in the book, there were still a lot of twists that came later. Elizabeth was a big surprise! But my heart went out to William! Pretty good book!

This book was really difficult to get into. Most of the time I could not keep up with what was going on with the characters or the storyline, perhaps it was me. Lacking. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

Ten years ago at a graduation party at Kirkwood Manor where there was an abundance of alcohol and drugs, Thomas Kirkwood was found dead in the Kirkwood lake. Girlfriend Lizzie refuses to ever return.

Lizzie who prefers now to be called Elizabeth receives an invitation to attend Thomas's memorial from his grieving mother Ada who has also invited all of Thomas's friends who attended the graduation party, as she wants to catch the killer!!!

I was totally gripped by this book. I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

Although isn’t the most original, I interested with premise about old friends who shared dark tragedy. It was an accident, or murder? When the mother of the one who deceased invited them all into a memorial, the story started intrigued me more.

The plot kinda loose and revealing the secret and fact through dual timelines. The pace is slow and feels dragging at some parts. I am not felt any connection with most characters and lost the interest with them most of the time. The writing it self is okay and I really want try another book from the author. But this story isn’t my cup of tea.

Thank you Boldwood Books for provided me with this copy. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tried so hard to get through this one and it was a struggle!! The premise sounded interesting and I was excited to be approved for an advanced copy but once I sat down it just was not a fit. The opening chapter was so over dramatic and I could instantly tell it was one I would have to really focus on. I quickly lost interest and never had the pull to pick up this book. None of the twists or turns really caught my attention.
