Sexy, heartbreaking, and just amazing! New author for me and was happily surprised with how much I liked this genre! Would recommend!

Travis by Mia Sheridan
Pub Day: 4/4/2023
Honestly the best quote I had to include the whole thing!
“Maybe the terrible truth about love is that when it’s gone, it leaves a hole in your heart so big it feels like nothing will ever fill it. The idea of risking again feels fatal. A human being can’t possibly lose that much of themselves and still survive. And so you try desperately to fill it with things that never quite do the job. Things that sometimes hurt other people,”

Aaaah this had some much potential yall 😩 and I wanted to absolutely looooove it so bad but I just didn’t. I couldn’t get past how terrible Travis was to Archer in Archer’s Voice 😅 I didn’t love the instalove Haven and Travis had. And I knew that some big end it all, thing was coming because duh it always does and the big thing that happened was not big at all. It was so anticlimactic. I found myself saying, “oh? that’s it?” Like that was so dramatic for what? The best part of the book was the last two chapters and the epilogue. I’m a sucker for a HEA!
I did love Travis’ character growth & but don’t love how he came to it. I feel like that letter shouldn’t have been the thing that made him own up to his mistakes and grow from them. He’s an adult & the chief of police, that should have been enough.
I'm giving this a 3.5 because I loved seeing archer and Bree and their kids as often as we did and loved the ending but overall this wasn’t my fav.
✨Thank you to Mía Sheridan, NetGalley and Bloom Books for this ARC of Travis by Mia Sheridan in exchange for an honest review.✨

I absolutely loved Archer's Voice, so I had to give Travis a shot to see if he could redeem himself. He definitely did! I enjoyed looking into Archer and Bree's future, getting to know and love Travis, hearing his story, and understanding his pain and healing journey. I would give this 3.5 stars overall. I enjoyed Acher's Voice more, however, if you enjoyed that book, I highly encourage you to pick this one up too, and revisit Pelion and its residents.

I enjoyed reading Archer’s Voice a couple years ago and I saw this sequel up on NetGalley because it got re-edited and released with a different publishing company (despite it’s original 2021 pub date) so I figured, why not?!
Turns out, this book follows Archer’s brother, Travis, a few years later. I was excited to read about him. Especially because we hate him so much in book 1. I couldn’t wait for his redemption arc. It ended up being a very emotional inner monologue heavy book.
The premise sounded really good but I ended up being so bored. It was just meh. I think if you feel VERY invested into Pelion, Maine and the Hales (Archer’s Voice universe), read this one. You’ll enjoy it. But I wanted so much more. It was too predictable for my tastes. I wasn’t invested in the main characters at all.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. The way I devoured this book in TWO days was so unexpected! I loved Archer's Voice and didn't know there was a sequel until I got this one in my inbox. I immediately dropped everything I was reading to start it. If you loved Archer's Voice, you will LOVE this one just as much. Its a small-town, friends to lovers story about Archer's brother Travis. It was nice to read his story and also get the other perspective from Travis of what happened in Archer's Voice. Readers will love and devour it.

I didn’t originally think I’d like Travis or this read after reading Archers voice, but boy was I wrong. I didn’t end up just liking him, I loved reading about both him and Haven. Travis was totally redeemed by the end and the overall book showed so much character development for both him and Haven. I definitely got in my feels for this one towards the end (you’ll know exactly what I’m referring to when you get there) but I loved it. I can’t wait to read more from Mia Sheridan.

This book is being reissued so I snagged an ARC. I used to read Mia Sheridan and somewhere along the way I stopped. I need to go back to her books. She writes about two people with issues and has them fall in love and heal. That is the type of contemporary romances that I love. This is sort of a continuation of Archer's Voice, but I read that so long ago that I don't remember much about it, but this is now Travis' story, who is Archer's brother. In this one, Haven is just staying for the summer in Travis' town. She and her brother are running from something and they won't stay in one area for too long. Don't form attachments or get close to anyone. Travis is the chief of police and he has just gotten out of a relationship so dating is not in the cards right now. But what about a summer fling? It could be good for both of them. No strings. Obviously they fall in love but then what?
-"But she made me want to become the man she deserved. She made me braver and stronger. Because of her, I wanted to be the best version of myself. And that, I think, is what love does, if it's really love."
-I deserved to have dreams. And how would they ever come true if I wasn't willing to stop, face my past, and then move on, unencumbered, into my future?

Second Best? No, he’s truly the Chief.
Dual POV. MMC/FMC. First Person. Medium Spice.
If you read “Archer’s Voice” then you remember Travis as Archer’s resentful and quite unkind half-brother battling his over-the-top sibling jealousy. In this book, 8 years have passed and Travis is the MMC. He has mended his relationship with Archer and he appears to have moved passed his animosity.
Since childhood Travis has believed he is second best. As a son, brother, boyfriend, and by the townspeople. Travis believes he is not worthy.
Travis meets Haven and they become friends despite her quirkiness and him not being a big fan of her brother. Haven convinces Travis to help her win over her crush. However, things get complicated between the two of them. Travis feels more than friendship towards her. In addition, he continues to battle his demons of past manipulation from people he thought had his best interest.
Sheridan develops Travis in a way that conveys his likeability, maturity, and growth that is believably through the pages. Much like “Archer’s Voice”, “Travis” will be in my re-read pile.

Different than I expected, this was a decent read though. There is a slow burn romance and lots of quirky town characters. Would love to read more about the older residents and such. Looking forward to more in this series.

I loved this and loved seeing Travis's point of view! He really made such a good and whole come back, the redemption was perfect.

Archer’s Voice was one of my favorite books that I read in 2022, so I was very excited to be given an ARC of Travis! Travis was not a likable character when he was introduced in Archer’s Voice, but the deeper we went into his backstory the more invested in Travis I became.
While this book was not as compelling of a read as some of the author’s other works, I did enjoy the romance between Travis and Haven and happily read their story. There was a decent amount of steam in this book too! Overall it was a quick, emotional read that gave us more insight into some new characters and revisited other characters that we know and love.

So many people (including me) raved about Archer’s Voice and fell in love with Archer, but what about Travis, the stepbrother who gave Archer a hard time? I was elated to learn Ms Sheridan would be writing a book devoted to him, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. This was a wonderful story that totally redeemed Travis in my eyes. He was so relatable, just a real person with chinks in his armor but such a good heart. Haven wasn’t my favorite heroine, but you know what? It didn’t matter because Travis himself made this book well worth the time I spent reading it.

Mia Sheridan is back with a character that was in Archer's Voice. This character wasn't a likeable one in AV but she does a really good job at making him one in this book! He was the villian that turned hero!
Travis has some serious abandonment issues, from being left by his father, manipulated by his mother he has a lot going on. But this book shows that just like the rest of us, he is just longing for something more for his life. I had a mixture of feelings about Haven that made me really confused. Overall this was an alright book for me.
I loved the little glimpses we got of Archer and Bree! I am excited for more books in this series.

I was fortunate enough to receive two advanced copies of Mia’s books and both were just outstanding! These are must reads!

This book was the perfect way to redeem Travis Hale. I knew there had to be more from him and I was hoping his story would be as good as this book was. I loved meeting new characters in Pelion and seeing familiar ones again. I loved the small town feel of both this book and Archer’s Voice and think this was the perfect continuation of that story. I want to thank NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Well, you win some, you lose some, right?! I’m not sure what I’m missing here, maybe since I haven’t read Archer’s Voice and apparently characters cross-over? I didn’t feel a large character arc happening here with our main-man Travis. Yes he has some issues to resolve, but he and Haven, his love interest are pretty boring and this book dragggggggged on. I kept waiting for a big romance to develop, but it didn’t. Our heroine pines for another guy for a bit longer than I felt necessary, which in turn didn’t make for a deep connection with our hero. It was fine, but nothing special. 2.5 ⭐️
Thank you NetGalley, and to the publisher for this advanced copy for my unbiased review.

Great redemption novel! This is truly a villain turns into hero novel where you finally get the background on Travis. Travis is Archer's "cousin" from Archer's voice. But the book centers around Haven and Travis meeting. Haven spends the majority of her time wanting another guy. Travis is healing from getting cheated on by his ex girlfriend. I liked all the layers to the characters and the banter.

This story was so amazingly beautiful and funny. I was crying and dying with the romance and just wow!!! This friends to lovers romance was one that I won't soon forget and it makes me want to read Archer's Voice all over again. This is a must read!!

This is my first Mia Sheridan book. What intrigued me from page 1 was that the first four chapters were from Travis’s point of view .
This intrigued me. I didn’t read Archer’s Voice so I didn’t know what to expect. But I’ve always liked the bad boy turned good guy trope, and here it is, in spades!
Although this was a follow up to Mia’s first book it’s a standalone, and there was enough background that I could follow the story. Haven and her brother Easton are in town for the summer, and Easton, well, let’s just say he misbehaves in a big way. One wouldn’t expect what happened to generate happy thoughts and good feelings between Travis and Haven, but love will always find a way.
The story has got me hooked: I’m going to track down Archer’s Voice and I’m certainly looking forward to the next book, I sure hope it’s Easton’s story!

This book was a great standalone as well as sequel. I love the characters and the writing. The characters were not only likable but they felt real. The town and people felt so alive. The love story was so sweet. Great read!
