I'm usually not a fan of redemption stories, but "Travis" was more than that. It didn't just show us that Travis was tragically misunderstood during his youth; it dove deep and showed how Travis took it upon himself to change after the events in "Archer's Voice." This change allows Travis not only to strengthen the bonds with his real family (Archer & Bree) but leads him to his found family in "the crew," as he and Haven lovingly call the residents of the Yellow Trellis Inn.

It's no secret that while I liked "Archer's Voice," I didn't love it the way the rest of Bookstagram did. That being said, "Travis" was so good! While I wouldn't call this a rom-com per se, the supporting characters (typically the elders of Pelion) had me laughing out loud whenever they were involved. The mutual pining between Travis and Haven was intense and had me unable to put this book down! If I hadn't had class and work this week, I definitely would have read this book in one sitting! This would be a solid beach read this summer!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publishers for giving me an Arc of this book in exchange for a review. I absolutely loved this book. Mia Sheridan never disappoints. I loved revisiting Pelion, with Travis, Archer, and some of the people of the town we grew to love with Archers Voice. I loved reading Travis' redemption. ❤️ I think I love him more than Archer now!

My rating: 4.5 ⭐️

After the events that took place 8 years ago, when he lost his right to run the town of Pelion, Travis Hale is struggling to put his life together. His life becomes more complicated when the nomad Haven Torres arrives in town. The friendship he develops with this young woman and his desire for revenge will collide to test what is most important to him.

Did I expect to love this book as much as I did? No. Does it compare to Archer's Voice? I think is a GREAT sequel, but I found the books so different that I think isn’t fair to compare them.

You definitely need to read Archer’s Voice first to learn the story behind Travis and his struggles. After reading Archer’s Voice I didn't know how the author could redeem Travis but she definitely did. I loved his personality and his friendship with the FMC. Like Archer’s Voice it is a friends to lovers with main characters with difficult pasts. I love the banter between them and the group of misfits at the B&B.

The only reason this book didn't get 5 stars from me was the third act conflict. It didn’t seemed believable how it developed and how it was solved, but everything before that was pure perfection.

Tropes:
Small town 🌄
Friends to lovers 👫
Close proximity 🫂

Thank you @NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloombooks for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

As always, loved this one by Mia Sheridan! In this second book at Pelion Lake, we now follow Travis Hale, Archer's brother, and Haven. Right from the start there is a twist that catches you off guard, which keeps you wanting to read. The writing is beautiful and insightful. Most is told from Travis' POV, which I don't mind as I prefer male MC POV.

I definitely wish there was more with the dynamic of Travis and Haven's true relationship, though the character development of Travis is not to be missed. Also, for Archer fans, Bree and Archer make a few appearances!

I would definitely give this one a read, it will definitely pull emotions (tears) from you!

Mia Sheridan is soooo good at writing a really, really great romance novel that makes you care about the characters, and are willing to forego any activity you have that day in order to complete the book. I was sad to finish it so fast.

This is my second book by Mia I have read. I previously read Savage and loved it. As I was reading I discovered I should of probably read archers voice first. 😬

I wanted to share my thoughts on this read. The way it’s starts and like Bam. I went into this blind no backstory on Travis. I instantly was connected to the story from the beginning.

It’s a beautiful story about two people that have had been hurt so bad in the past that they were scared to let anyone else close enough to do it again.

“Maybe the terrible truth about love is that when it’s gone, it leaves a hole in your heart so big it feels like nothing will ever fill it.”

Although they were parts I was like just open up. I was literally in my head screaming you both love each other someone speak up.

Haven has such a fun and quirky personality. I loved how she talked to the plants and grandma.

The grandma part had me cracking up and how Travis played along with it too.

They started off as friends which is perfect. I believe true love stories last because underneath all the attraction they connect on a deeper level. They definitely connected on a deeper level.

Overall this book had me hooked it a beautiful story and now I must read Archers voice and anything else Mia has written.

I did receive an arc to give my personal review of the book. I’m so thankful I was able to review.

Thank you Sourcebooks Bloom Books and NetGalley for access this ARC.

Chief of Police of a quaint town with a closet full of skeletons and a Plant Mom (... along with her miscreant brother) battling her own inner demons cross paths. Can they stay friends, or will a charming town and two broken souls hoping to re invent themselvew find their HEA?

Travis Hale is a dream. A man who owns up to all his faults and wrongdoings in pursuant of love? Count me in. I really enjoyed the writing in this. Felt like such a lovely place to live surrounded by good people. Great character building, and cute side characters overall. Bonus points for the well written spice 🌶. I'm not a fan of HOW Travis earned his redemption with the whole "Shame Manifesto" but I see how it glued the story together.

I look forward to reading Archer's Voice, and I think I'll be happy I read Travis first as this is his redemption story... and the start of The Pelion Lake Series. Also looking forward to more of Archer & Bree & their babies!

Would definitely recommend if your into small town/friends to lovers/you know they're getting a HEA romance, romance.

This book was really good and I actually enjoyed reading Travis's story. I also loved seeing Archer and Bree back on paper! The ending of this book I admit felt a little farfetched, but I still liked it and definitely cried at the end. Loved the character development and overall just a really good book.
Definitely read Archer's Voice first!!

Shout out to Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the eARC of Travis by Mia Sheridan via NetGalley 👏😚

I listened to Archer's Voice last year and couldn't bring myself to read Travis right after 😬 months later Blooms re-release of Travis finally had me ready...I needed to know his story. Could he really redeem himself ...

Moving forward when you look up the meaning of Travis it now longer says complete a$$hat 🫣🤯

I can proudly say, I adore Travis Hale 🫠

This story, wow...it is not as painful as Archer's, but it's definitely emotional. And yes we get to see Archer, Bree & crew...aww Uncle Travis🥰

This story is of true redemption; second chances, starting over, apologies(no matter how big or small), forgiveness, and letting go...and Haven is an absolute kind-hearted, plant saving, woman...that has Travis having a lot of firsts (all the feels) and "what the hell is happening to me" moments 🥲😭🤭🥰

And don't worry Mia doesn't take it easy on him 😂

Mia Sheridan has done it again. She made the impossible possible and made me see Travis Hale in a new and better perspective. When I initially read “Archer’s Voice”, I abhorred Travis, I thought there could be no redemption for his character… oh, how wrong I totally was. After reading this book, I can proudly say that love Travis— but not as much as Archer, obviously, because come on, almost no one can top him.

Haven was such an interesting character and someone I really loved reading about. I somewhat resonated with her and I adored her bubbly personality, plant obsession, and weird quirks. I’m so happy she found Travis and that Travis found her. They work so well together despite their obvious differences. They both deserve the world after what they went through.

The writing was exceptional, as always, but I did find some parts a bit boring only because the characters’ inner monologues kept repeating/were too long.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and it was interesting to see Travis’ character development throughout the novel. I’m hoping Mia Sheridan makes a book about Easton next, I’d really love to read it.

I love a good redemption story- especially when a character that is antagonistic and problematic to the point that I’m not SURE they can be redeemed. I especially love it when their redemption story isn’t about excuses, about justifying their misdeeds- but rather, it’s about intentional change. Growth. Owning who they are/have been and responsibly pursuing a better path. And such is Travis, Archer’s infamous half-brother, a character I never anticipated or even WANTED to be a hero, but a character who also undoubtedly earns his redemption, and my love. And Travis just just that. The story is enjoyable (and surprisingly light and funny despite some of the more painful past elements), and the characters are refreshing and charismatic. Travis has transformed into a reborn man in many ways, but not without a lot of effort and baggage. I loved seeing this iteration of him, and while Archer’s Voice wasn’t fresh in my mind at the time, I wonder if I’d see him differently if I re-read it. He’s definitely swoony. And Haven is a gem- layered, complicated, intriguing, and really lovable. A heroine you root for. I loved their friendship and how their relationship authentic evolves, and I love how their dynamic is the flip of the normal tropes- she’s hard to get, he’s been flipped on his head. She’s a surprise in so many ways- and I love unique she is.

Like I said, we have some really fun and charming moments, but this is also a Mia Sheridan story, so there’s some heavy emotional elements as it relates to past trauma these two have faced. But together they find a way to face them, to forge a future together, and we get to catch up with Arche along the way too. I really enjoyed being back in this world- and I’m hoping we get to spend more time here. Haven’s brother Easton certainly has an interesting story to tell, and this world is always a welcome visit for me.

Picking up a short while after the extended epilogue version of Archers Voice ended, we see Travis picking up the pieces of his life, adjusting to his new reality.
When Travis meets Haven Torres the pieces he has put back into place seem to crash down again.

I really enjoyed Archer's Voice and was excited to see more about Travis.
Unfortunately I found his story to be very “on the surface” and not deep like Archers.
Travis’s story felt rushed and he definitely did not get the backstory that Archer got.
At around 70% the story lost me. I thought it was a little cheesy and maybe a bit forced.
In any case I’m glad I read it.

A huge thank you at Netgalley and Mia Sheridan for giving me a chance to read Travis in exchange for an honest review.

Tropes included : small town romance, forced proximity, strangers-to-friends-to-more

This amazing book is now considered the Archer's Voice twin, yet it's a standalone dedicated to Archer's brother, Travis.
Return back to Pelion and it's small town and tight knit community, onl this time our protagonist is Travis, who comes to claim a redemption arc that will make you root for him no matter what he has done in the past.
Enter Haven, who is in town only for the summer, or so she says, until she crosses paths with Travis and love takes root in a series of small town sheenanigans and swoon worthy behaviour that makes you cheer Travis on as the story goes on.
Personal favourite quote of his "I thought about getting you flowers, but I figured a plant lady such as yourself prefers living things keep their roots" .Should I also mention the APB he put on for Haven's missing plants? Need I say more ?
All in all this is a romance no-one should miss !

I'm not going to lie, I was prepared for this book to be a fail because I hated Travis so much in Archer's Voice. What a character arc! The epitome of a redemption story and I am so glad I read it!

in the end his redemption was done ALRIGHT, but i was here for the archer bree crumbs and they were mighty delicious might i say

I read ‘Travis’ without having read Archer’s Voice first. I had heard/seen on TikTok that Travis was an unlikable antagonist, and I didn’t want to go into a book risking that I wasn’t going to like the main character. This being said, I really enjoyed this book and I think my plan maybe contributed to that. Because I didn’t have a real idea of all the horrible things that Travis had done, I was able to buy into the character pretty much right away.

My one qualm was that I didn’t really love how he “evened the score” at the end of the book. This is what took it from a 5 to a 4 star read for me. Without spoiling, it just didn’t seem like the right thing to do or the best solution. I am all about a grand gesture, so I just wish it had been done a little differently (or more realistically).

I’m super excited to now get to read Archer’s Voice! It has been on my TBR for way too long as other things have kept coming up. I have high expectations now, and I can’t wait to learn more about Bree and Archer’s story while maybe having a little more perspective on why Travis is the way that he is.

Favorite quote: “Weren't all of us a compilation of the versions of ourselves we'd once been?”

I really liked the redemption arc of Travis and that his character was at least partially redeemed. I feel like I forgive him because of everything that happened in his family and how he was a product of it all, but I sill didn't love his character. I wasn't overly attached to the MMC and FMC's relationship, like I was with Archer and Bree, but it was still a solid read. I would recommend it, but with caveats.

Travis by Mia Sheridan

My rating:
4/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Travis Hale, the Chief of Police in Pelion, Maine pulls over a woman named Haven Torres as she was distractedly driving.
From there, Travis and Haven develop a friendship that eventually leads to a mutual agreement to be friends with benefits , but with no strings attached as Haven was in town only temporarily.

This is the follow up novel to Archer’s Voice, which was one of my favorite books read in 2022. While this didn’t quite make it to one of my favorite reads, I really enjoyed it. It was nice to revisit some of the characters in the first book as I really fell in love with them. I especially loved Travis’s character development in this book! Mia Sheridan truly has a way with words, especially the spicy scenes she writes. I would absolutely read Archer’s Voice before you read this one, but add them both to your TBR if you’re looking for some romance in your life!

Thank you netgalley for this ARC! You can read this one now ❤️

I loved this book so much! I really didn’t know what it was about when I started reading it, but I quickly was obsessed! The characters are well developed, and I couldn’t help but love them all!

“You think too much of me. You don’t know all the details. If you did know…” After reading Archer’s Voice I seriously disliked the character Travis and I was hesitant to dive into a book solely about him because I didn’t know if he could be redeemed. He was horrible to his half-brother, and schemed to make his life miserable. How am I going to care about this character.

Eight years later he is a devoted uncle, the chief of police, no longer runs the town but definitely likes to keep up his appearances (e.g his country club membership in bougie Calliope). He is thinking about proposing marriage to his girlfriend, Phoebe but catches her in a compromising position which brings a halting stop to that relationship. Enter “Haven from California” - a quirky, plant loving vegetarian who has been traveling cross-country with her brother, never staying in one place for more than a season. They develop an unlikely friendship as he tries to help her win the heart of local heartthrob Gabe Buchanan. The more time they spend together the more feelings develop, and the more he doesn’t want to see her go at the end of the season.

“Lose it all, or lose it all.” After the way Travis treated Archer he really deserved to lose it all… but I guess sometimes there is hope that the bad guy can change and get their HEA.
