Fabulous!! This was a great story which I could not put down. Would recommend this to everyone who loves this genre.

As usual with Caroline Fardig's books, I loved this.

Ellie Matthews is back at work after some time off and is immediately thrown into a new case. A couple was found murdered in their bedroom. The man worked with Ellie at school so she was an obvious choice to bring in on the case. There were a lot of twists and turns in this one and the answer that seems so obvious at first is not the answer at all. It also has back and forth in the relationships of both Ellie and Baxter and Amanda and Sterling.

I am a big fan of reading series in order and while reading this book I realized that I did not read book #3 of this series. It sounds like it really set the stage for the relationships in Parted by Death and I cannot wait to go back and read it. This book also sets the stage for what I assume is going to turn into the fifth story which sounds like it will be very interesting.

I enjoyed the investigative part of this story. There were many red herrings so I could not predict the villain. I liked the repartee between Ellie and her co-workers. Unfortunately, I didn’t really like the romantic part. To me, it felt forced and awkward. This is a new to me author whose work I would be interested in reading more.

This was a very fun read. It had suspense, humor, and action and had me fall in love with the characters by the end. Especially between Ellie and Baxter. The whole time I wanted to punch him in the face but as the story went on, I grew to love the man.

I rated it 4/5 stars because it took a while for me to really get invested in these characters' storylines. I loved how funny it was, and some of the references were cleverly placed.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Criminal Minds or CSI.

I have so been looking forward to this book! Criminalist Ellie Matthews reluctantly agrees to help her dear friend, the Sheriff, with a puzzling investigation. The last one left her with a broken heart and trauma to process, so Ellie isn't very keen to get involved again. But, with her usual tenacity, she jumps right on. I love all the characters in this book so much - and I don't want to give anything away... but you MUST read this book. It's absolutely fabulous - full of mystery, twists, turns, and a bit of romance. One of my favorite books of the year so far! Thank you to Severn River Publishing for an advanced reader of this book - the opinions expressed are my own.

Ellie Mathews is once again recruited since she is an expert criminalist to assist when a body is found at an abandoned water park. The case goes cold as the body cannot be identified. . But right away a double death is found in what seems to be a murder-suicide. Are the two cases connected; it seems that they are. The evidence doesn't support the media reporting of the case so will the truth be found...

This is the best book yet! I was completely sucked in and read it in one sitting. The mystery was full of twists and I was surprised at how it played out. I liked the addition of Shane and thought the dynamic between him and Ellie was great. All our favorite characters are present and I can't help but love Sterling. There's a lot of tension in this story in several ways and it kept me turning pages. I'm excited for more!

The Ellie Matthews series is soooo great! When my request for #4 Parted by Death was approved, i realized that I had to read #3 Dead Sprint first. I thoroughly enjoyed my marathon reading of these two books this week.

Ellie was called out to a crime scene at her least favorite place, an abandoned park with a clown theme. The dead body had no identifiers and the victim was killed elsewhere so it was classified a cold case.

The next case was an apparent murder-suicide, but it looked like it had been set up to look that way. Ellie and the rest of the task force need to find the truth by following the facts, wherever they lead.

I love the complexity of the Ellie Matthews stories. Each of the characters stays true to their history in the previous books. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. This is the fourth in the Ellie Matthews Series. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I really enjoyed reading this mystery and immersing myself into the character’s lives. Considering that I didn’t read the first three books; I didn’t feel that I was missing any of the important pieces of the characters because the author caught you up in one form or another. It had your romance, murder, red herrings and plenty of suspects in this novel.

You are introduced to Ellie Matthews an expert criminalist who teaches at a college and sometimes is recruited to work with the police. For the last couple of months Ellie has refused to take any cases and is just helping Vic to recover from his injuries from their last case and to think over her life. Vic ends up telling her that she needs to stop worrying about him and start to get back to what she does best. Ellie then accepts a “murder/homicide” case from the police and starts to go back to what she loves. This case isn’t as easy as it looks and the information, they are finding is looking more and more as a “homicide/homicide” case. Not only is Ellie busy trying to work along with a former college friend but also her with her former partner who she felt that she had a love connection with who is now acting very standoffish. Read to find out whether or not this is a homicide/homicide case, does Ellie get her man in her life and does she continue with her consulting with the police.

Criminalist Ellie Matthews is still recuperating from the difficult last case she took on for the police. Her former partner, Nick, and now love interest is giving her a colder shoulder than she had expected, so she is finding support and friendship with Vic, the FBI agent injured in the last case. She is called in to assist with the discovery of a murder victim without any ID. Just as that case is declared "cold," a high profile murder of a news reporter and a professor colleague of Ellie requires her assistance. As she struggles to figure out what's happening with Nick, she works with the team to solve the murders and find the killer. It's a complicated case that will require a great deal of creative thinking from Ellie. I look forward to reading the next book.

You know a book is good when it finishes too soon and leaves you wanting more! This is a tense, exciting and fast paced detective who done it. The characters are all really well written, great and interesting characters and larger than life. The story starts with a murder, several more stack up and a plot of intrigue, lies, cheating and dishonesty slowly reveals itself. Clues come left right and centre, but it is a whole before all the pieces fall into place. This had me hooked right until the end. A great tale, involving, confusing, frustrating and then finally it all makes sense. I loved every moment of this, I was with the main characters all the way and will certainly recommend highly.

Great characters, amazing detail on the investigative process and wonderful supporting back stories to a clever main plot. I couldn’t believe it when I got to the end of it as I wanted more - it’s not exactly a cliffhanger but kind of. Can’t wait for the next instalment!

Parted by Death by Caroline Fardig is a 4 out of 5 stars for me. I liked all the characters, especially Ellie, who is a strong female protagonist. Even Sterling, with his sarcastic and caustic behavior, was likable. Baxter, at first, was kind of irritating and frustrating. I wanted to yell, "Just tell Ellie what's on your mind already!" But the storyline played out, and the reasons why he was aloof.

Parted by Death had an intriguing storyline and fun to try to figure out why people were killed. It was a bit unbelievable at the end and who the culprit was and the reason why.

Overall, this is a good series. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I really did enjoy the characters and the setting, and Parted by Death had good, solid writing that kept my interest with enough clues to keep me guessing.
