My son and I read this book together and he gave it 2 thumbs up! If you like THE turtles and their adventures in a comic book form, you will like this book.

This comic is based on the Nickelodeon series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It is a compilation of the first five comics previously released and includes the three-part series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Sound Off. The graphics are colorful and distinct. The writing is similar to that found on the tv series including the same amusing sense of humor. The adventures were true to the characters and fun to read. If you like the Rise series, you will definitely enjoy reading this compilation.

I can't say that I was really a fan of this graphic novel. I was a big TMNT fan as a kid (as most people of my age are), and this just didn't feel like the classing TMNT to me. I am sure that is the point, to try to bring the ninja turtles to a new generation, but it clearly was not for me. I really hated the new designs for the turtles. I appreciated that they had more individuality than they did in the original comics, but they were just UGLY. Raphael looks like a straight up monster, which might be scary to some little ones. I'm glad that they left one turtle, Mikey, mostly alone design wise. I don't know if there is a cartoon version of this iteration of the ninja turtles, but it felt like a brightly colored, but ugly episodic Saturday morning cartoon.
