Another triumph for Josie “nosey” Parker and her policeman boyfriend Nathan.

Jodie is now officially back in the force and working alongside Nathan. After leaving policing behind in London and starting her catering business Jodie is back in the thick of it, uncovering what looks to be a smuggling ring.

Great fun characters and a good storyline this addition to the cozy crime collection is an easy read and one that I would highly recommend. Able to read as a standalone but better read as part of the series.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book 6 in the series, Jodie is now semi official when the local police department (since she's been pretty much solving their last 5 murders LOL), and the bonus is working alongside her boyfriend. but is it really? She's feeling the stress at home, as she promised her daughter she would NOT go back to policework when they moved to Cronwall. As she struggles with mom guilt/GF guilt/work guilt and business (catering) guilt, she soon realizes that she is holding some of the missing pieces for the current murder, once again. Book 6 gives us interesting insights into a working mom, struggling with family, in a cozy british police procedural. You'll love this one, and it will make you want to go back and read the previous books in the series too!

A Cornish Seaside Murder is the sixth book in the Nosey Parker Mysteries series. The main character, Jodie (nicknamed Nosey) is a former police officer, now caterer/chef. In this book she is now working part-time as a police officer. For me, this book wasn’t as good as the others because of that, there was a way more police procedural feel to the book. And, I just didn’t enjoy the mystery like past books. Also, her teenage daughter is definitely acting more like a teenager than in previous books, where she was so sweet. There wasn’t much regarding Jodie’s catering business – which I like to hear about more than police procedures and hanging at the police station. Due to all these factors, the book just didn’t have the usual cozy mystery feel to it. Maybe that was the plan, but it just didn’t suit me. I’m hoping maybe now that Jodie isn’t going to work part-time with the police, future books will return to how books 1-5 were. Book 5 was one of my favorites in the series.

The romance aspects are moving along nicely and add a fun feel to the book, which is really what I’m looking for; fun and light stories (not heavy topics and lectures about society’s problems). The book has lots of funny moments and I enjoy learning the lingo (& food) of the region – that’s great! I’m looking forward to the next in the series and hoping it includes more Tony, Debbie, and Callum, with lots of Shirley.

Thank you Netgalley and One More Chapter/Harper Collins UK for this ARC. I'm submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion. I will post this review to my blog, Goodreads, Bookbub, & Amazon accounts on the publication date, 6/8/23.

I've read all the books in the series and I can't wait for the next one. This book had a different tone to it, and I must say I really enjoyed it. There was more danger involved with Jodie and the murderer, which kept me turning the pages. I love Jodie. I love her humor, I love her attitude, and I love her dynamic with Nathan. This author has created a nice mystery series that will appeal to all cozy mystery fans, and just murder mystery fans in general. I'm looking forward to buying the paperback to add to my collection. Keep them coming, and thank you for the read!

As a former cop in London and now living in a small village on the Cornish coast Jodie keeps nosing around in local murders. However now she is legitimately working on a trial basis as an auxiliary cop. The downside is now she finds herself being spread too thin trying to work a murder, continue her catering business and be a mom. To top it off the boss of this investigation is her boyfriend.

This story would appeal to many groups of people from those who like cozy mysteries to fans of police procedurals. There are many twists and turns, and the intricate mystery will keep you guessing to the end. Thanks to One More Chapter and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Tremendous fun as always from Fiona Leitch, weaving together modern crimes with old folk stories in an effective, intelligent and enjoyable way. Cornwall provides a great backdrop to this story, with its ancient monuments, beaches, hordes of tourists, traditions and the struggles of the actual Cornish people. Fishermen have long been the victim of various government inefficiencies, so it's no surprise some of them have turned to the age old Cornish tradition of smuggling.

"Don't miss the next Jodie 'Nosey' Parker cozy mystery!

A Siren's call...to murder.

Former Met police officer Jodie 'Nosey' Parker is working a trial period as an auxiliary Detective Sergeant with the Penstowan police force. But living and working alongside DCI Nathan Withers - while still trying to grow her catering company - brings its own challenges, especially when Jodie’s attention is quickly taken up by the suspicious drowning of a local fisherman.

While tourists and locals alike are falling under the spell of the annual mermaid festival with its captivating legends of Sirens luring fishermen to their deaths, Jodie and Nathan fear they may have found themselves in the middle of a very real - and very dangerous - turf war. As the casualties start to stack up, they must face the likelihood that something sinister has been going on under their noses for some time..."

But don't discount the danger of mermaids either!

This is a crime novel set in a beautiful part of England taking in local events and customs into the storyline. One will enjoy this book if you like light-hearted, comic and unrealistic stories. I have to admit that it did not suit me but others will love it!

I love this fun series and its characters. Any bits involving Daisy and Nana are usually my favourites and funniest, especially when they are together. Sadly with main character, Jodie (Nosey), actually working for the police rather than just sticking her nose in there was sadly less bits with her daughter and mum. The nature and motive of the 'crime' was also more serious this time. But on the flip side this meant more 'mystery' too with more twists, turns and opportunities to guess the perpetrator and motive - which I really liked. So, another great instalment in this cozy murder mystery series - although don't be put off if you haven't read any of the others as it works just as well as a standalone.

How could I not enjoy a mystery where the main character finds herself agreeing to play the part of a mermaid in the yearly celebration of a village legend, only to find out she’s been cast as the evil mermaid who gets chased to the church by the village children. When a body is found it’s time to lose the mermaid tail and start investigating, Josie has become an auxiliary police officer since leaving her job at the Met in London and returning home to her beautiful sea side village. Her local knowledge helps fill in the gaps for her boss and boyfriend as they search for the reason behind the death, and suspects.
Fast paced with plot twists, humor, family, and personal decisions to be made, I enjoyed this latest book in the series and thank the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy, reading it is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon..

This is an intriguing mystery set on the beautiful Cornish coast. It’s the latest in the Nosey Parker series although I’m sure that it would work perfectly well as a stand alone. Josie Parker is helping out at the local mermaid festival when a body is discovered in the churchyard. As she is now working for the police force as an auxillary sergeant, she is able to take a full part in the investigation alongside her partner, D I Nathan Withers. The investigation leads them to a local business man and his fishing fleet. When a young student who also works for the business man disappears, alarm bells really start ringing.

The mystery is well plotted and has lots of twists and turns involving a variety of characters, some from the previous books and some new. It’s a bit darker than the previous books but there’s nothing too graphic. The Cornish setting is lovely and is integral to the mystery rather than just being a pretty backdrop.

As Josie is now working officially for the police, this is more of a police procedural than the previous novels and there is a lot less about her catering business and family life. This was a bit disappointing as I loved Josie’s banter with her mother and that light hearted side wasn’t so apparent in this book. A minor gripe is the way that Josie and Nathan continually call each other ‘Babe’. Do people really use that word in public? Despite that, I still enjoyed it immensely and it was a great book to curl up in the evening.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a well plotted murder mystery and am very grateful to Net Galley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter, for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I've read a few of the Jodie Parker books now and do enjoy the crime solving in amongst catering for various events. The characters are likeable and it's an easy read and usually there is a good outcome!

A great fun series set in beautiful Cornwall.

Jodie 'Nosey' Parker always seems to find herself embroiled in the latest crimes, but with that nickname it's to be expected.

The story's are cosy, easy and fun but what makes these stand out is the beautiful setting.

I think this is my favourite Jodie Parker cosy mystery novel, written by the fab Fiona Leitch! Fun, fast paced and lots of twists and turns - I loved it and read it in two sittings. I couldn’t work out what was behind the crime wave, and did suspect most people ( including the vicar! ) and found the ending most satisfying. I look forward to the next book in the series- hopefully there will be more! Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I discovered Fiona Leitch’s Nosey Parker Mysteries about a year ago, and they’re a really fun series.

A Cornish Seaside Murder is the 6th book in the series, and was just as much fun as the others. More in fact! There was a good mix of family moments, and crime solving.

Although the plot was darker than the previous books, it didn’t feel too heavy or adrenaline filled for a cosy crime. The pacing was excellent, and kept my attention engaged throughout.

It was great to see Jodie and Nathan’s relationship continuing to develop, and adapting to their new professional relationship. Also, Jodie trying to find a good balance between the way she used to investigate, and police procedure. It’ll be interesting to see how this, and her work/life balance develops in future books, with everything she’s got going on!

Overall, this was a great cosy crime that kept me turning the pages. I can’t wait to see what Jodie and friends get up to next!

TW: torture (off page and only mentioned)

I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

I enjoy this cozy series very much and am always happy to read the next adventure of Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker. Gosh, this is already the 6th book in this series, but you can easily read it as a stand-alone. This time, things start off with the annual Mermaid Festival, then Jodie finding a body drowned in a trough at the church right before everyone is to arrive for the Vicar to bless the fishing boats.
Using the skills she learned as a Met Police Officer, Jodie is now on a probationary period as an auxiliary police officer to the local constabulary. That means she’s finally officially assisting her significant other, Nathan, as he works to solve the murder. Except, Jodie left the Met to spare her teenaged daughter from fears of losing her to a random act of violence and now Jodie’s back in the midst of things. Not to mention, what does it mean to her relationship with Nathan if she’s working FOR him? And what about her catering business which is finally taking off? So, there’s murder, mayhem, robbery and personal decisions to be resolved before the Cornwall town can return to normal. Luckily, Jodie’s on the case (mermaid tail and all!).

Cosy crime is always popular and sells well, anything set in Cornwall also sells very well - put the two together and there is a winning formula. This book will race off the shelves, and when asked I will be able to say "yes I've read it and its good"

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read and review an advanced copy of this book.

Jodie Parker left the police force in London to move her daughter and dog to the quieter Cornish coast. Now a caterer and living with DI Nathan Withers, she is talked into playing the part of a siren in the yearly festival. When a dead body is found, the local fishermen want to blame it on the mythical curse of the siren. Jodie is taken on as a part-time DS to assist the police, and her catering business, motherhood, and her dog are all put aside to help solve the murder. As the investigation progresses, it looks like a smuggling operation might have resulted in murder, and Jodie and Nathan have to balance their relationship with the investigation.

As part of a series, it helps to have read the earlier books, but there is enough background to be a stand alone story. There is plenty of humor, intrigue, and danger to make this an interesting and fun cozy read.
