This series featuring DI Laura Hart and the island of Anglesey continues to impress. It might seem implausible that so many murders can take place on such a place but go with it because these are well done procedurals. Know that Laura talks to her deceased husband (she's still working through her grief) even as she builds a good relationship with DCI Gareth (not romantic but working and yet.....), No spoilers from me. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC,. A page turner,

This is the third book in this series, and the best so far. Twists, turns and thrills galore! I love the way the relationship between Laura and Gareth has developed but I’ll be glad when Laura’s murdered husband, Sam, remains dead! If it wasn’t for the conversations she has with him this would have been 5 stars from me. I am looking forward to learning more about his demise in the next book, and hope it puts him firmly in his grave! An excellent read.

Simon McCleave has scored the hat-trick with the third brilliant read from this series! Returning to the small island of Anglesey and the familiar character of DI Laura Hart felt like coming home and I settled into the book quickly and comfortably. I was intrigued as the plot was so fast paced and appeared to be "wrapped up" very early on. Oh, how wrong was I! There was more suspense and twists which kept me reading and left me disappointed when the book came to and end. Although this book can be easily read as a stand alone story, I would highly recommend reading the entire series from the start; you won't be disappointed! Eagerly awaiting the next in the series!

Number 3 in the D I Laura Hart books and we’re back on the beautiful Island of Anglesey in another great instalment in this hugely enjoyable series. A quick exciting read, which I finished in less than a day.
An intriguing main plot centring around young women being abducted. With two hours to go it’s all wrapped up, but then we’re treated to a rollercoaster of twists and turns. Lots of great developments in the subplot in both Laura’s past and present lives with both left on cliffhangers.
I’m already looking into the next instalment.

Blood on the shore is book 3 in the Anglesey series and wow this series just seem to get better and better with each book.
We are back with D.I. Laura Hart and her team and her boss DCI Gareth Williams who is also her partner, on the island of Anglesey investigating a serial killer who leaves his victims’ bodies buried up to there necks in sand on the various island beaches. When they suspect member of the public acting suspiciously near the scene is acting strangely, they think that they have got their man. Can they have found the killer so quickly. When they find more information about him. They realise they have the wrong man. The hunt is on to find the killer before he strikes again.
I thank Avon, for a copy of Blood on the shore. Wow this is another edge of seat thriller, especially the second half of this book. I couldn’t put this down and had to hold my breath in certain parts in anticipation on what happens next. As this is the first series that I have read of this author I am now off to look at the other series he have written. 5 stars from me.

The third novel to feature DI Laura Hart and what a cracking Read!!!! Laura and her team are hunting a serial killer dubbed by the media as the Anglesey Ripper and he is trying to leave the island. This is a book in two halves, the first is all about the killer and the last half just blew me away. Packed to the rafters with tension and suspense. This book had me glued to my seat and constantly holding my breath. This book was impossible to put down and kept me reading late into the night. Another triumph for this very talented author. Loved It!!!!

DI Laura Hart is back in Anglesey and has another crime to solve, this time a serial killer is leaving young girls murdered and buried up to their necks on remote beaches, so along with her now boyfriend and boss DCI Gareth Williams they have to race to find the perpetrator before another life is lost.
I like Simon McCleaves writting and you can tell that he has a screen writer background as he makes his stories very descriptive and engaging., It will be interesting to read the next installment.

In this third novel set on the Welsh island of Anglesey, DI Laura Hart has a serial killer to hunt down. So far he’s known to have killed three young women and is suspected of killing another two missing women. Although, Laura makes connections between his victims and identifies the suspect quite quickly, he manages to slip away, leading her on a thrilling chase around Anglesey as he tries to escape.

As with the previous books in the series, this is a fast paced thriller with plenty of action and suspense as Laura and the suspect play cat and mouse across the island in a desperate game. He proves to be a slippery customer with quite a few twists up his sleeve to keep the police on their toes. Meanwhile Laura is still investigating the death of her detective husband Sam, killed four years ago in the line of duty and there are further developments on that front, which will hopefully feature more in the next episode in the series.

Well, this was a bit of a thriller! Once I started reading, I could not put this down, the emotions just ooze off the pages. It's full of action, clever plotting and a clever twist at the end leaving me wanting more. Brilliant characterisation, suspense filled plot and excellent writing make this such an easy 5* read which fans will love. A huge well done to the author. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Avon Books for an advance copy of Blood on the Shore, the third novel to feature DI Laura Hart of North Wales Police, based on Anglesey.

Laura and the team are hunting a serial killer, dubbed the Anglesey Ripper by the press. After a couple of missteps on his part they quickly identify him, but catching him is another matter as he tries to escape the island.

I enjoyed Blood on the Shore, which is a novel of two halves with first about identifying the killer and the second about catching him. There is also a distinctly different tone between the two halves with the first being a rather perfunctory investigation that serendipitously leads to the killer, whereas the second is full of tension, uncertainty and affects those closest to the hunt. There are some real shocking events. It makes the plod through the first half worthwhile.

The novel is told from various points of view, chiefly the various detectives and the unnamed killer in the first half, whereas the second half is all about the killer and his thoughts and actions with Laura and the team mostly relegated to a reactive catch-up role. I mostly don’t like hearing from the killer as it tends to be repetitive from novel to novel, but this is handled extremely well, from his self awareness to his reactions to being thwarted at various times. His psychopathy shines through even in the smallest details, but mostly in his callous disregard for others.

Laura is now comfortable in her relationship with her boss, DI Gareth Williams, but is still pursuing an investigation into the death of her husband, Sam, four years ago in Manchester. There are some eye-opening developments in this novel about it, but, somehow, I don’t think they’ll lead to what is being implied and that the bombshell cliffhanger will be another twist in a complicated story.

Blood on the Shore is a good read that I can recommend.

Tragedy on Anglesey

Before becoming an author, Simon McCleave worked as a script editor at the BBC and later became a screenwriter in series such as Silent Witness and the Bill.

Simon McCleave's books are quite addictive. The first two in the series - which I devoured - are The Dark Tide, & In Too Deep, now followed by its recent Blood on the Shore, in which the events of the two previous parts in this third part brought on something of a catharsis.
In the prologue of the story we see two characters in front of the scene where the drama will unfold later. The story starts quite 'tame', with a girl going on a date with a man old enough to be her father.

McCleave gives a brief summary of what happened in the two previous parts of this series, making this third part read completely independently for new readers - who will undoubtedly become addicted to his writing, but of course I recommend reading the first two parts, so that as a reader you can empathise with the main characters.
Moreover, the three parts are inextricably linked. When you have read the books and understood the undercurrent of the structure, it all becomes clear. Indeed, the drama on Anglesey does have a very ingenious structure….
McCleave uses his readers as an audience, and pulls you into the story through all the high emotions and the quick action and the many events that follow each other quickly, so that you feel almost being part of the story. I sometimes felt like I had ended up in a Bond story, wanting the villain to end soon, the story is packed with nail biting actions, and blood curdling chases.
As a mum of a 19-year-old daughter, my Kindle became my portal into Anglesey, where I wanted to shake people up, stop them, find them, encourage them, or hope they’d fall off the Menai Bridge. I wanted to hug Laura, feeling her grief, her despair, while the emotions I felt for “ Him ’ were of a completely different order, more of disgust and horror, to then turn into relief when his wrath finally came to an end.

I was quite shocked by the modus operandi to, and despite the brutality of this act, - I cannot even begin to phantom it -, there is evidence that such crimes have actually been committed, and many bestsellers have even been written and made into films and series about such dramas, and those who performed them, giving these perpetrators a worldwide stage of attention ..
The story starts seemingly slowly and unsuspectingly, but every step is one of action, and more action, and before you know it you are on an emotional roller coaster and it seems you are no longer a spectator but a participant. Your heart skips a beat when you hear what happens to Rosie, and you want to rip his head off and scream at your Kindle when Harley misses the bus and gets in anyway. No, you want to scream. Don't. Please!
The story will stay with me for a long time, and if I understood the structure of the story correctly, I fear this will be a farewell to Laura and Gareth. I will miss them terribly. The story may have come to an end for Laura and Gareth for now, I am sure McCleave will not leave us in the dark for long and will soon treat us to a new adventure again.

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
(The Beatles, Helter Skelter lyrics)

Action-packed, high adrenaline thriller. McCleave goes full throttle and seems only to be getting better. That promises quite a bit for the future! Easiest 5+ star for me, thank you Simon and publisher for this advanced reader’s copy.

This is fast becoming one of my favourite series, gripping story lines, twists aplenty, red herrings to keep you guessing not to mention a strong team lead by DI Laura Hart and her man of the moment DCI Gareth Williams.
Someone is callously killing young women on Anglesey, burying them up to their neck. some of whom have been found easily whilst at least two mores whereabouts have not been discovered.
Laura is tasked with finding a killer and stopping him claiming any more victims.
When a man is spotted acting suspiciously at one such discovery they think they have him.
On searching his house they find evidence to support this idea. Then an attempted abduction goes wrong and they are forced to think again.
A fast paced exciting read with plenty of action and drama to keep the reader turning the pages.
I really enjoyed Blood on the Shore and am eagerly looking forward to DI Harts next outing.

There’s a serial killer in Anglesey. Young women have disappeared only to be found murdered and buried up to their necks in sand. DI Laura Hart and her team are working to solve the crimes quickly before the killer strikes again. A chance meeting leads them to a suspect and the evidence they find in his house convinces them that he’s the murderer. He’s arrested and the case is solved, right? If only it were that simple.

Blood on the Shore, set in Northwest Wales, is police procedural at its best! The talented Simon McCleave has developed unforgettable, multi-layered characters. The plot is compelling and nuanced and suspenseful. The developing subplot between Laura and DI Gareth Williams adds extra interest. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and Simon McCleave for this ARC.

Another cracking crime thriller from Simon Mccleave. Plenty of tension and two well rounded, strong lead characters. This series keeps on getting better and nicely poised for the next installment.

Blood on the Shore is the third instalment in the Anglesey based police procedural series by Simon McCleave and it is another good solid read.

The main storyline is good albeit fairly predictable at times however the series underlying arc makes some progress which has been a bit of a bugbear of mine in the previous 2 books.

Overall a good solid book.

Blood on the shore is Book Three of the wonderful Anglesey Series. I thoroughly enjoyed the last two and this one surpassed my increasingly high expectations! Once again Simon McCleave has produced an excellently fast paced and thrilling book which kept me engaged throughout.

This series in based on the beautiful Island of Anglesey. I must admit that I'm biased, as the island is my home, but it really is a stunning location and Simon portrays the backdrop beautifully throughout this book, and indeed the series as a whole.

The main focus of this instalment surrounds the emergence of the "Anglesey Ripper" and the events that unfold as a result. We are taken on a thrilling ride with high-speed chases, island-wide searches, and adrenaline-inducing scenarios that left me on the edge of my seat!

I am also fully invested in the storyline of DCI Laura Hart, the ongoing hunt for the truth surrounding her husbands death at the hands of a Manchester Gang, and her flourishing relationship with her DCI Gareth. The characters are well formed and it's easy to feel real emotion for them.

I genuinely could not put this down, I flew through it in under two days. It was genuinely heart stopping and unpredictable. The book is brilliantly executed and a must-read for anyone looking for an exciting and engaging crime thriller.

Thank you to Netgalley, Avon Books UK and Simon McCleave for an advance copy of the book in return for an honest review.

I could not read it quick enough! Had me gripped from the off - just brilliantly written. It is part of a series but it doesn't matter if you haven't read the others (I highly recommend that you do though). I'm also loving the little sub-plot throughout the books that develops within each book. I cannot wait to read the next instalment. This book however has yet another great storyline that has twists and turns and had me gasping out loud at them, Honestly brilliant.

It’s good to be back on Anglesey with DI Laura Hart. Anglesey is usually a bastion of peace and harmony, but on this visit a rampant serial killer, the Anglesey Ripper, is on the loose. Laura and the team are pulling out the all the stops to try and catch them before they kill again.

As with all Simon McCleave books this is a fast-actioned thriller with plenty of action set in a wonderful part of the world. Whilst it is the third book of a series it can be read as a standalone but I feel you will get more of out of it if you have read the others, as it does bring in more along Laura’s timeline and the incidents surrounding her husband’s death some years before.

As the story develops and the manhunt builds, you get a real flavour for the island nature of Anglesey and how this impacts on criminals if they are trying to escape the police. There is definitely plenty of action in this book with a killer who is willing to take whatever action he needs to in order to escape the police and get the buzz from killing. You soon are hooked in the book and just don’t want to put this excellently written book down; this is helped by some excellent characters.

A five star read for me and I am happy to recommend it to all crime fans out there, or people that want more books set in Wales. Even better if you start with the first book in the series. I now wait with baited breath for the next book, especially given the ending of this book.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blood On The Shore," the latest installment in Simon McCleave's "Anglesey" series of thrillers, is an intense and gripping read that kept me hooked from the first page to the last. McCleave masterfully weaves together multiple storylines, including the hunt for a sadistic killer who is terrorizing the island of Anglesey and the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of DI Laura Hart's husband. The tension never lets up, and just when you think you've figured out what's going on, McCleave throws in another twist that leaves you reeling.

The character development is excellent, and I found myself invested in the lives of DI Hart, DCI Gareth Williams, and the rest of the investigative team. The relationship between Hart and Williams adds an extra layer of complexity to the story and keeps the reader guessing about the outcome.

Overall, I would highly recommend "Blood On The Shore" to anyone who enjoys a well-written, fast-paced thriller. Whether you're new to the "Anglesey" series or a longtime fan, this book is sure to satisfy. McCleave is a talented writer, and I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

Fantastic read again in the Angelsy series. Great characters, storyline and the red herrings dropped in too. Keeps you guessing and wanting to read. Fast paced and exciting. Even though part of a series it can be read as a stand alone as there is enough back story in it. So looking forward to next one ..

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion
