I LOVE a story about a family murder. This story really started off with a bang and immediately you are thrown right into the story and it never lets up!

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

I felt myself instantly hooked in the beginning, the author is very good at keeping you guessing as the book goes on. I never knew where this book was going, which I always appreciate and enjoy!

I did find the different timelines a little difficult to follow, but overall it was an enjoyable read.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning! Lots of twists and most of them I did not guess! There are a lot of characters and at first I was a little confused but it’s repetitive (not annoying) who is who. Sometimes the story seemed rushed but it was fast paced so I didn’t mind. None of characters were very like able and I think that added to the mystery. I feel that some of the topics in this book are sensitive so check TW but everything was done well.

Overall I enjoyed this book and I will check out more by this author!

Im truly sorry. I had a hard time understanding what was going on in this book. Im sure the plot abd the story get better and is amazing. Sadly i cant read it. Everything just seems like run on sentences and i need more character development. I dont even know who the narrator of the story is. I will try again once all the

The writing was very chaotic but the story was okay, I guess.
However, I couldn't enjoy it properly because, like I said, I wasn't a fan of the writing, especially the dialogues, and the characters felt flat and weren't properly characterised.

The title pretty much gives you what you need to know about this book. It's about a Mistress living next door...brilliant deduction on my part, eh? The question then becomes which one of the neighbors in this close knit, snoopy community is the mistress? And everyone is suspect. Our poor main character spends the entire time looping from one suspect to another, certain she has figured out who her husband is cheating with, only to be proven wrong, and she's on to the next suspect. It is exhausting for her (and me too!!!) as she tries to figure out what is going on - her daughter goes missing from the park (is later found safe and supposedly just wandered off), her previous nanny left her employ suddenly and without any communication, her husband cheated before and she suspects him of doing so again, she has a secret from her past that she hasn't shared with anyone other than her mother, and she is suddenly getting creepy notes alluding to her secret and threatening her family. This was certainly an immersive story and there are plenty of characters not to like and who could be the culprit in question. This is worth picking up if you enjoy cheating husbands getting their due, deeply buried secrets, and lots of misdirection as to whodunnit!!

I have never read a book by this author before, so wasnt sure what to expect but i was drawn in by the front cover and i really enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed the dual POV from different characters. This book had a relatable main character.
The secret in this book i did not see coming!
I thought I had the secret worked out, then I thought I had the mistress worked out and boy was i wrong.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

The Mistress Next Door is an engaging mystery novel. Great plot well developed throughout the novel and the characters were very well drawn and developed across the novel. Really well written and the tension is built up very skillfully

When Harriet and Oliver move to Prospect Close , they thought it was going to be everything they wanted. Oliver works lon hours in the city, Harriet is setting up her own business at home and has 3 small children to look after. When one of the twins goes missing and notes start coming to the house for Harriet, is what happened in her past coming back to haunt her?

It's nice to live in a neighbourhood where your neighbours are more than just that. They have become friends. There is a Whatsapp group for helping each other out, mom's and children meet for play dates, ladies meet for coffee, ... But there are downsides too of course. Aren't there everywhere? The biggest one is gossip. People who are living close together often see things or think they have seen something and soon a molehill has become like the Mount Everest.

When you have a past you would like to keep in the past, it is very possible you feel claustrophobic. You are constantly looking over your shoulder, because you fear one day someone might find uut what happened and you will be exposed. With every day that passes you are convinced someone is out to get you and your life as well as your children's is in grave danger.

Aren't you lucky you can count on your trustworthy and loving husband? (insert sarcasm ;) )

Every time I thought: yes, I know who it is, I had to change course, because of course I was wrong again. LOL Story of my life when I am trying to figure out who is the culprit in mysteries.

I felt for Harriet. I know she did not act like she should have in the past, but I don't feel like she was to blame either. I do understand the feelings of the culprit too, but I felt they were a bit to harsh.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the story. I was an easy read with quite some possible suspects in my opinion. The ending might have been a tad chaotic. 4,5 stars

Thank you

I really enjoyed this new novel by author Lesley Sanderson so much so that I read it from cover to cover in one sitting.

Harriett and Oliver live in Prospect Close and at first everything was as it should be. They moved from the city where Oliver spent far too much time away from home making life unbearable. In Prospect Close everyone seems so friendly and the neighbours are forever inviting each other over for barbeques and drinks. Family life is so much more fun these days but behind all the good times there are secrets and none more that the one Harriett is holding on to.

Recently Oliver has started acting like when they lived in the city, staying out late, working longer hours and has not been fully focused when at home. Harriett is suspicious that Oliver has returned to his old ways of having affairs so begins to watch him very closely. She discovers receipts and other signs that her suspicions are correct but also wonders if her secret is coming back to haunt her.

The tension kicks up a gear when Harriett receives an anonymous note and it appears someone in the Close knows her secret and wants to get revenge.

Lots of interesting characters, twists and turns and everything that makes an exciting read.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Harriet has a secret and someone is threatening to reveal it, at the same time her marriage to Oliver is going through a crisis with suspicions of infidelity.
Although the plot is not very innovative, fundamentally it works and the novel is dynamic and easy to read, perfect for a lazy weekend.

This was one of my first thrillers of 2023 and it was excellent. I am an avid reader of mystery and thrillers and this one kept me guessing right up until the last chapter (Sad to say, I was way off the mark in my guesses of the mistress, Harriet’s secret as well as the final outcome). I usually can guess the plot mid way through a book so it was quite the welcome change to be kept guessing until the end. The characters were many and well developed and made me think each had something to hide or was a suspect. Sometimes I did have to look back to discover who a character was as there were so many in this book. This was my first go with this author, but it won’t be my last as I found her writing to be very engaging and also to the point. The Mistress Next Door was an entertaining and quick read that kept me guessing (and second guessing) from start to finish. Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this mystery.

The Mistress Next Door was a bit of a disappointment for me. There were a lot of characters in the first few chapters and, unfortunately, I guessed who the 'villain' was by 10% in. The deep, dark secret from the past was well done but I just couldn't sustain any sympathy for the main character. I did finish it, but felt the author could have done so much more with the plot.
I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Mistress Next Door hooked me on the first couple chapters. Unfortunately, the drama and intrigue didn’t sustain throughout. Fresh plot, with great descriptive writing but ultimately wasn’t as “juicy” as one would have thought from the first several chapters intro. Character development was well done, and I could definitely see myself looking for the next book from this Author because I liked her writing style. Thank you again for the advance copy.

I really enjoyed this book, first one I have read by the author and will be looking to read their other books in the future.
The Mistress Next Door gripped me right from the first few chapters, i really couldnt put this book down, the story flowed well and had so many twists and turns and really kept you guessing until the end. I would really recommend this book if you are fan of the thriller/suspense genre. 5 stars for a very enjoyable read.

I just can't get enough of these domestic thrillers and this was no exception, I got involved from the very beginning and every page was a thriller for me from the beginning until the end.

Great characters all the way from one of my favourite authors who never disappoints, well done Lesley Sanderson I look forward to your next five star read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

This book simply just didn't do it for me. I was overwhelmed by characters with hard to remember/similar names in the beginning. However, that being said the story doesn't waste any time getting started. You are thrown right into the action out of the gate. The dual timelines was a double edged sword for me, I was already having a difficult time keeping track of things and this intensified that. All in all, this story was not for me and probably not one I'll put on my list of books to recommend to others, but it was not terrible.
The cover is great, and caught my eye.
Thank you Netgalley & Lesley Sanderson.

The book disappoints. The plot is flimsy and the characters are one-dimensional. The end is predictable without twists. It’s not what one expects from a thriller.
