The setup—a fast-paced, amnesia-fueled spy road trip with romance and danger—sounds like it should be a nonstop thrill ride. And I appreciated the playful tone and chaotic energy in the premise. But for me, the story felt a bit overstuffed and hard to follow at times, with too many twists and coincidences crammed into a short span. The characters, while charming on paper, didn’t fully come to life, and the romantic tension often felt rushed rather than earned. It’s clear the book aims for high-octane humor and excitement, but for me, the pace and plot juggling kept it from really sticking. Fans of zany, over-the-top spy rom-coms might enjoy it more than I did.

As a huge fan of the Gallagher Girls series this made me so happy! It's funny and smart and romantic and perfect! I am absolutely looking forward to diving into the next one.

Such a fun novel! Suspense? Check! Romance? Check! A heroine with a case of amnesia and a mistaken identity? Check and check! I loved this series starter and it's fun characters and fast paced action. Is it a little fluffy and ridiculous? Yes, but that is exactly what I had wanted and hoped for with this book and it totally delivered. Looking forward to more in this series!

This is another, I put this off for way too long posts. This is me coming to tell you that Ally Carter means the world to me. This book was everything that I could have wanted. It was Ally to the tee. I grew up on Gallagher Girls and Heist Society. I as I know many teenagers do, felt like Cammie—the chameleon who could fade into the background—and now seeing this that the girl who was never the main character, but had mettle and reserve and who loved, even my mistake she ends up getting involved in—or at least running from—the spy community? It was like a perfect balm.
Ally Carter was the last author, the last bit of normal, that I got to see on tour before the pandemic. She wrote brave girls who used their brains, were underestimated, and it meant the world to get to meet her. To have a library full of Gallagher Girls who followed her vision and went out to change the world in different ways. This book was dedicated to us and I continue to be grateful to the woman who brings us what we need, and has for me for two decades.
As an adult I often read books and go “I could do that” and well our main character, not Alex is all I’ll call her for now… she did not but somehow ends up in the middle of it all and is a delight. Sassy and full of internal strength. I adored that she was a mixture of funny, trusting, and bubbly while trying to figure out the biggest question of all, who is she and where is her sister? Seeing how little things slotted together over the plot was a delight. I did very much enjoy getting to be in both her and Sawyers points of view, both unreliable narrators in different ways. And dear lord did I enjoy getting to watch this big bad spy, be surprised and then turn into a simp and be awestruck by the klutz that literally fell into his life.
The action never stops, but neither is it breakneck. Every moment is intentional and propels you forward in this story, and I never felt like I had missed something along the way. Also, if I had not cracked this open to read on a plane I would have been outright guffawing at the comedy in the book. It is very obvious that this is an adult novel, it was never uncouth but the delight I got from certain scenes was immaculate and I thank Ally for every single word.
If you want fun, if you want emotions, and growth, and mystery. If you want to laugh and are also okay with wanting to stab someone (perhaps with knitting needles) and feeling that you’d never be able to walk around in leather leggings and high heels to pull off a heist but might want to read about it, then The Blonde Identity is the book for you. And once you’re done, her next book set in this world is coming out very very soon, like August 5th soon.
Thank you to my favorite teenage author idol. You saw me as a teen, and you saw me as an adult, and you wrote books that everyone will be able to identify a part of themselves in or fall in love with. I am so glad to get to continue to read and gush about your stories.

As a fan of Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls series, this book filled a void in my life. Carter brings her signature style of fun, humor, and team work to yet another spy thriller but for adults! This book has everything grown up fans are looking for: mistaken identity, badass women, and supportive men. Carter's heroine is awoken by a hot guy who thinks she is her twin sister, a super spy. What happens next is an adventure romp through Europe as she tries to discover her own identity and why her sister is being hunted.

I did not enjoy this book at all. The story wasn’t for me and I found the characters annoying. I can’t recommend.

I read this, I kid you not, it under 12 hours. I could NOT put it down. (Ok, I did to eat and watch an episode of Time Team lol). But. It was SO GOOD. I don't know why it took me so long to read it! I've owned a personalized signed copy since it dropped but I've been putting it off reading it for no reason other than anticipation, I guess. I even read The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year by Ally last summer (I had an ARC). BUT. Anyway. Perhaps I subconsciously put it off because I just knew a sequel was coming and now I don't have to wait 2 years to find out what Alex is up to! This was so good! It was thrilling! It was exciting! It was cringy in the best ways! It was so much fun! Ally is so good at alluding but concealing the twists until the right moment and this time around my own theories were wrong! I love Ally Carter! This book is so good! If you haven't already, you should read it!

Ally Carter is a favorite for me ever since her Gallagher Girls series, and I was thrilled to find another spy book from her! I loved it so much I purchased a signed copy too!

This was a wild ride from start to finish, and different than what I was expecting (but not in a bad way). While I was hoping for some of the same magic from the Gallagher Girls series, this book had its own spin as the FMC has amnesia and her twin is apparently the one who is the spy. I recommend this book if you're looking for an action/thriller-esq type romance.

A delightfully fun romantic spy thriller where an amnesiac woman discovers she's being hunted because she looks exactly like her secret agent twin. With snappy dialogue, sizzling chemistry, and high-stakes action across Europe, this enemies-to-lovers adventure perfectly balances humor, suspense, and romance. A page-turning escape worth every twist.

This was a fun action packed book with a splash of romance. I loved Gallagher girls as a young teen, so when I saw Carter was writing an adult spy book I was pumped! Overall I found this an enjoyable read with loveable characters, lots of action, a splash of mystery & a fun romance!

I liked it, but compared to her other books it is one of my least favorites. I love that it is geared towards adults, but it still felt childish in some ways (plot development, syntax). It took me a couple weeks to finish this book, as I had a hard time getting into it and staying interested. I wasn’t on the edge of my seat like I was with her other books. I think I’m stuck on the Gallagher Girls series and how incredible that series was

This is a fun, entertaining romp through Europe with charming main characters and plenty of adventure. Perfect for a bit of armchair travel.

2/5. I’m a huge Ally Carter fan but this romance felt fan fic-y and a little ridiculous and trope-y. It wasn’t what I expected 😭

I've seen some other reviews that did not favor The Blonde Identity, but it was a lovely beach read for me!! Zoe is such a fantastic heroine, and made me laugh out loud several times. There were storylines that felt a bit wan, but I think that tends to happen when you write a romance novel disguised as a spy novel. Long live the Denominator!!

I listened to the audiobook for this and loved it, the narrators brought the characters to life so well! As for the story itself, if you loved reading Ally Carter as a teen (like me) you’ll love reading Ally Carter as an adult (also like me). This was so fun, light hearted & fast paced, cheesy in the best possible way and I legitimately think you can never go wrong with spy themed romcoms (they’re just so entertaining)! Also a really quick read/listen!

This book was so fun. Like a female James Bond but funny and twisty. A woman wakes up with amnesia and people immediately keep trying to kill her. She has muscle memory that lets her kick butt but no idea where it came from. A super hot spy starts to help her but she isn't sure she can trust him. It was just a fun ride. I'm not saying it was the most accurate but then, most action movies are barely held together by a motorcycle and a dream so I was willing to be lenient.

The Borne Identity meets Legally Blonde!! An enjoyable action packed adventure. I would have like a little more from it but was still a fun read..

If you read Carter's Not If I Save You First in high school and are all grown-up now, this book is for you! It's fast-paced with thrilling adventures, life and death situations, and some excellent kissing.

I read all the Gallagher Girls book when I was in school. I was obsessed with them. So I knew that whatever Ally Carter releases, will be something that I know I would adore. She has definitely done it again!
I was right, I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Blonde Identity! It had a mix of amnesia, romance, drama, and adventure in every page. There is soo much I want to say about this novel but it would reveal too many spoilers. It is an absolutely brilliant novel and I cannot wait to read her future work(s).
I am really grateful for Ally arranging for me to receive an ARC of her amazing book. Please go and read this fantastic work and support her transition to adult novels.
