This was requested when I first found out about NetGalley and I had requested so many ARCs that I could not get to all of them before they were archived. I really wanted to get to this one, as it seemed interesting. If I can find this somewhere for a reasonable price, I will try to get it! I am giving this book three stars, as I don't want to give it a good or bad rating, since I did not get to it and we have to leave a star rating.

It's weird that it took me so long to get to this, since anyone who knows me knows I'm also a freelance werewolf. On that note, I really liked this book, but the titular werewolf felt a bit constrained. That's the whole point of werewolfery, after all--that you don't deny your desires. (I know, I know--a lot of supernatural lore revolves around characters aching to be in control of their "misfortune." Don't. Run, howl, pump that blood.)

I loved this book! I've been unimpressed with so many of the shifter storeies I've read lately, I almost didn't start this one.....but WOW, I definitely ned to read the next books in the series too.

Gun club owner/ widow needs help with mysterious stalker. Not exactly an ad for the classifieds. Lillian knows she needs help, but is reluctant to ask Sara. Circumstances continue until Lillian MUST do something or she'll be killed. When Sara steps in, things change, mostly for the better. There's plenty of action, tension and even a love story or two in there. Sue Denver gives us an intriduction to a female werewolf. Let's hope she'll be around solving crime for awhile.

An interesting start to a new series. Had a bit of trouble getting into it but once I did I enjoyed it. Would recommend this book.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this book to read.

It's not a badly written book but it wasn't for me. I didn't connect to the main character and found the plot lackluster.

Sue Denver takes mythology and links it to fast-paced contemporary fiction. I found this book enjoy, and the author's style keeps the narrative driving forward.

Werewolf For Hire is the first book in the Sara Flores Werewolf PI series by American author, Sue Denver. It’s after the third incident that Lillian Knudsen surreptitiously contacts one of her regular clients at BK Shooting Range, Sara Flores. Vandalism of her car, then potentially accident-causing damage, followed by being rammed in a car park: she needs to act.

In the eighteen months since Sara Flores was turned into a werewolf, she has been acting as a one-woman vigilante team, meting out justice to those who deserve it. Qualifying as a PI allows her to be at crime scenes under less suspicion. She takes Lillian’s concerns very seriously, immediately implementing a plan to keep her safe.

But when Lillian’s car is forced off the road on her way home, and Sara acts to save her, it draws the attention of the perpetrator onto her. Her tech expert, Mason Spencer is tracking down the decidedly dangerous interested party, but Sara needs to get her wolfdog, Skidi to a safe place, and that means involving the attractive but off-limits Bill Hanalho, head priest of the Lupiti tribe.

A gutsy protagonist like Sara, whose appearance belies secret ability, ensures that she is underestimated by many who would do her harm, making for plenty of action and a not-insignificant body count by the final pages. The plot takes a few unexpected turns before an exciting climax and a very satisfactory resolution.

This is a new series for a character who features in the author’s earlier books: there is enough recap that the reader will not be confused, but will have their interest in Sue Denver’s work piqued. Denver puts the emphasis on female self-sufficiency, and the werewolf aspect does not overwhelm the story. Enjoyable paranormal fiction.

An excellent mix of urban fantasy and mystery that kept me hooked and turning pages.
Fast paced, action packed and gripping. I hope this is the first in a series as I want to know more and read other stories featuring these characters.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I love this series and have now read every book in it.
The first books were rather traumatic as Sara learns how to become a werewolf and what her capabilities are. Especially how easily she can kill in her alternate form. Now we are onto the real PI part where she is setting up a team and coming into her own as an investigator and learning how to use her abalities in both her forms.
the writing sets a good pace - neither too fast not too slow, and the characterisation is good. Sues style is crisp and clear and does not over use adjectives or descriptions - but we learn enough about werewolves as the story develops.
I look forward to reading more of Sara's PI cases./

This book pulls you in and doesn't let go until the end of the book. Then you're searching for more books by the author and jewelry. Sara Flores is a werewolf and newly licensed PI, whose been hired to protect a wounded veteran. What ensues is a lot of action and shifting.

Werewolf for Hire
By Sue Denver
Our gal of the story is a werewolf. She started her own company when she got her P.I. license. She practices shooting at her friend's range. Her friend has been getting harassed. Car smashed. She was almost killed. She needed help so our gal took the job.
It was so exciting. Intense, action packed, suspense, with great fight scenes. Of course she has to use her wolf!
This is a short book but it was great anyway. It may be to introduce the characters and world. I am hooked! I will look for the next book.
I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this book.

Sara Flores has just got her PIs licence as she keeps finding dead bodies, well that’s what happens when you’re a werewolf with a fantastic sense of smell. She is trying to perfect her craft when Lilian contacts her as someone is trying to kill her.

This feels a more earthy Werewolf read, as Sara isn’t in a pack, there aren’t a lot of other supes around (that we know of) and she’s still learning how to deal with the changes, as well as sorting out her newly chosen career. Her friend Mason is the tech guy with his own back story that I’m sure will come out in the next book, as well as Sara’s. There are some very tasty hints as to her previous life, and I definitely want to learn more. It’s a good mystery thriller, with lots of action, well written and with a Skidi the dog too, an entertaining read. My only negative is that the final confrontation seemed over a bit too quickly. However, very enjoyable read, a definite welcome addition to the Werewolf library and I’ll be looking out for the next in this series.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I enjoyed this quirky book. It is a great first book in a new series. I like the main character, and the idea is great. Unusually for me I have not wandered into a series after several books, not knowing what is going on, I look forward to seeing characters develop, and questions being answered and am already looking forward to the next book. We needed a new Werewolf on the block, it's been a while since we had one, and this ticks my boxes. Great start to a new series.

I wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the cover of this book, but the blurb really drew me in. I started reading this and in no time at all, I was completely, 100% invested in the story. We don’t get a lot of information upfront, but the way the author writes this, you don’t really need the information all at once. This is a detective fiction book but with a werewolf main character, and this is mostly about solving a case, sort of a first case for Sara. I absolutely adored her, Lillian, Ben, and Mason. This is a quick read, but I hope that there are lots more books to come with these fun characters, and we see lots more mysteries to come…and hopefully, more of Ben and Sara. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
