My daughter and I both laughed at this story! It was such a fun storyline and the illustrations were perfect! This is a great read for any young child age! With the colors, it would even captivate babies and could easily grow up with them.

The brightly colored, playful illustrations immediately caught my eye. My first thought at seeing the cover was that this book looked fun. And it's a book about a party, so it is fun! Just when it seems everything has gone wrong, Armadillo's creative and quirky thinking saves the day. I love rhyming prose in my picture books, and while this one didn't flow quite as smoothly as I hoped, I'm certain a second or third read would have me prepared to smoothly share this with my storytime crowd. As someone who plans activities to coordinate with the books I read, I love how much this book inspired me. I was planning a party-themed storytime before I'd even finished reading it. This story is playful and silly. Adults may find the message to be a little preachy, but I think children will be delighted by the overall story.

What an incredibly quirky story of an armadillo learning he’s different in the BEST way! Loved the illustrations, the humor, and how the moral was to be yourself regardless. So cute!

This is the story of a wacky armadillo who hosts a party for all his friends. He makes so many mistakes that they criticize him for but in the end they all have a good time doing things just a little bit differently. There are rhymes, counting, and lots of animals. It's hilarious and heartwarming. Perfect for kiddos who love to laugh, think differently, or just love a good tale with lots of talking animals.

How awesome! Lots of fantastic illustration and rhymes about a little armadillo who just cannot do anything right, but he is determined to make friends with the other animals in the jungle. He decides to throw a party, and when everything turns upside down and sideways, everyone learns to love him for his quirks. They all end up happily ever after! I LOVE the theme of the story and the armadillo is so cute. The prose is great as well, and any child would love to listen to or read the lyrical story.

Thank you, NetGalley!

This book has the opportunity to inspire creativity in children! This book is for the child who always feels like they are doing everything wrong. It’s a good reminder for them to remember they might just see the world a little differently.

This is a very cute story about an Armadillo who is pretty quirky and wants to make friends. This story had a message in accepting the differences in the way people think and act.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Keep an eye out for its release February 7, 2023.

Review to come in February to my blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I fell in love with that cover and the title, but then I read the blurb and was even more convinced! I just had to have it!

In this adorable and fun looking book we meet Armadillo. He is a bit weird, sometimes jumbles things up, but he wants to do something big. So he decides to hold a party. I loved seeing him make some very pretty invitations. I had fun seeing which animals he was going to invite (apes, lemurs, and more) + see if they were going to come or not. Plus, they had some questions on things that they were looking forward to at the party. From cake to musical chairs, but as you may guess, this is Armadillo and things go hilariously wrong. Well, OK, it was hilarious for me, but I could also imagine that the Armadillo's feelings may be hurt when he figured that out (or when animals would tell him). But I was surprised at what happened next and how Armadillo reacted. It just made me smile and I was so delighted. That is one way to go for it~ And I wished I could have been part of this party, dang!

That last message was just perfection! It made me smile~

I loved that the book was all in rhyme! It made the story more fun, more original, and more silly! It made me smile.

The art in this book was so much fun and I loved how brightly coloured the armadillo was but also his surroundings.

All in all, a silly and fun book about an Armadillo who wants to hold a party and all that happens next. It made me smile, laugh, giggle, and many times I wanted to just step in the story. Recommended.

This was a fun book written in rhyme. Armadillo seems to get everything he does wrong, but when he invites his friends to a party he discovers that maybe “wrong” isn’t so bad after all. Maybe it can be lots of fun. A great book to show children that there may not always be one way of doing things.

This is a cute adaption to the song, " Down by the Bay" and I ate it up! oh you silly Armadillo, you! This Armadillo knows how to partaaaay and planned everything from decorations, guests, and food down in the bay. Alas, life happens, and everything doesn't go as planned, but did the Armadillo cry? of course not! He laughed it off and made it part of the party. I adored this story and can't wait to gift it for future birthday gifts.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the Arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

What a silly little armadillo. This cute book has beautiful illustrations showing all of the silly things armadillo does as he tries to impress all the other animals tho he has misunderstood exactly what they mean.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

As a teacher for students with CVI, I love this book. The colors are bright and contrasting, which makes it easier for students to pay attention to what is going on. The story is simple, but engaging enough to be used for story based lessons within the classroom.

While I see what the story was trying to do, it fell quite flat. It was wordy in my opinion with certain phrases being said in bold on every page, but those words in bold seemed to miss the point/tempo of the story because with so many sentences on the page you'd end up emphasizing half the story.. it just would work reading this aloud at least. I think the illustrations are pretty and fun but the pacing and long rhyming scheme missed the mark.

Oh, Armadillo by Ellie Irving. This is a very cute book for children Armadillo decides to have a party to make friends but he does things the wrong way. Armadillo thinks sponges cakes are 🧽 sponges. So his cake becomes a trampoline they can all bounce on. His crazy ways become fun. Read the book and what fun you will have.
