After picking a astray don on a rainy night, Cassidy Carter, Office Manager of the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic, tries to figure out why the dog has a large “Z” painted on its coat. Thus, begins another mystery. Cassidy and the rest of the clinic staff all become interested in finding what exactly is going on after other dogs appear to have the same mysterious mark painted on their coats. There is also a new, handsome Game Warden in town. Both he and Cassidy take fancy to each other. As the story progresses, they each pursue answers to the mysterious Z-marked dogs, each in its own way, but, more often than not, together. Both follow through the myriad of clues, some solid and some not so solid, they encounter in their search for answers.

This is a nice cozy. It moves along well and fast enough. I enjoyed reading about the vet clinic and the interactions between and among the staff. The one person I had difficulty relating to was the Game Warden Jason. More often than not, he came across as totally committed his job, which is great, though he seemed lacking in l and a human side. All business. Cassidy was interested in him and he in her, but sometimes I wondered just what he felt for her because I felt no real emotion or genuineness—only concern for doing his job regardless who he was dealing with. He could have been more gentle and willing to make some small concessions. All in all, the story was a good dog story, which is what I wanted when I requested the book, so I was satisfied. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

Book 4 in the series, and liked this one a lot. Ok, I liked the romance between the hunky game warden and Cassidy. The mystery of the dogs painted with the letter Z seemed a bit muddled at the end, but overall a fun book in the series. Enjoyable and would recommend.

It all started on National Singles Awareness Day (Valentine's Day) when Cassidy, a volunteer for Second Chance Ranch Dog Rescue, responded to a text about a dog needing rescued. She found the pup stuck inside a locked gate during a storm. The storm turned out to be only a small part of the problem.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series. Each one focuses on a different character from the employees at the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic. As a result, I feel a connection with many of the characters in book #4. It also works as a stand-alone story with humor, mystery and romance making it a well-rounded book. Thanks to Barbour Fiction and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was my favorite book out of the series so far. I found the other stories to be a little more far fetched and this one was in the realm of the possible. I particularly enjoyed the characters of the game Warden!

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own

I love the characters and as I have been reading the series I have been enjoying how they interact with each other and the strong circle of friendship that they are creating. The mystery part was a bit drawn out but the romance aspect kept me interested. This is a nice light read and helped me to de stress from the day.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. Opinions are my own.

This is the fourth book in this series that I have read and enjoyed!

This one focus on Cassidy Carter, who is the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic receptionist, and we join this read as she is about late one night to rescue a dog! Enter Texas Game Warden Justin, and we are on an adventure to find out who is stealing dogs and painting them with the letter "Z".

When I say adventure we are off with some sweet romance, dog stealing, exciting new business and living arrangements, but boy are there twists!

All four of these reads are very enjoyable, and I looking forward to the next two! Yes, they can be read alone, they have recurring characters, and the authors do bring us up to date! Your in for a treat with this Gone To The Dogs series!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour, and was not required to give a positive review.

This was a great book. I loved the whole mystery along with romance trope. I admired the heroine so much for not rolling over or losing her independence simply because a man she was attracted to seemed to expect it.The hero was great too as in the end he accepted and embraced her stance. Sweet romance, mystery and lots of canines. What more could you ask for.
But then, anything by Kathleen Y'Barbo is wonderful -right?

I had an enjoyable time in Brenham, Texas with the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic and the rescue animal crew. In this installment readers are introduced to Justin Cameron, game warden. He’s a man who takes his job seriously and does things by the book. When Justin points out that Cassidy’s license plate tags have expired, sparks flare. He won’t let her drive her car home. She thinks he’s joking, but he’s not.

Except when it comes to animal rescue, Cassidy Carter believes in obeying the rules. She would go to great lengths to save an animal in distress.

I liked the characters and the mystery surrounding the Zs painted on canines in Brenham. I’m looking forward to the next book in the Gone to the Dogs series, Every Dog Has Its Day.

I have been enjoying this series. I love the small town feels and friendships. The main characters in this book were a little off putting for me. Cassidy was far too pushy and Jason wasn’t always as truthful as he should have been. The story line was fun and the outcome was a surprise. I’ll be looking for more books to come!

Cassidy Carter is the office manager of the Lone Star Vet Clinic. She is working Valentines Day night (aka Singles Awareness Day) to allow her friend Mari and her boyfriend to have a special date. She is called out on a rainy night to rescue a dog from a gated area that has a white Z painted on him. She takes Spot home with her and into the clinic the next day. This begins the mystery of other dogs showing up with a white Z painted on them and since she has always been a Scooby Do fan, she decides to investigate and has her own Scooby gang to help. This puts her at odds with a handsome game warden, Jason Saye.

It's a good mystery with likeable characters and who can resist cute dogs? It is a 4th installment of a series, but I had not read any of the prior books. I had no trouble jumping in. It definitely can be read as stand alone. My only issue is that we don't have the culprit involved in the story until the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

I was so excited for this book, and it did not disappoint! I read it in just about a day, and it made me so happy. All my favorite characters are back in this next installment of the _Gone to the Dogs_ series.

Janice Thompson and Kathleen Y'Barbo alternate writing the books in this series, and this one (like Book 2) was Y'Barbo's turn. I liked this one better than Book 2, and it is definitely in the running for my fave of the series so far. Really fun to have a pet/animal-based series with a side of romance--a fun twist on my usual fiction read. (Readers of Dan Walsh's pet series will likely enjoy these as well!)

An excellent way to while away a few hours. The book, as with the others, are more or less standalone, but I'd still say they merit reading in order just to get to know the recurring characters.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

The Bark of Zorro is another wonderful installment in the “Gone to the Dogs” mysteries series. Readers will enjoy the mystery plot line as well as the antics of the dogs, rescuers, veterinarians, and the game warden. A little bit of romance sprinkled into this mystery, and it is a “pawsatively” perfect literary escape. I honestly was not sure who could be behind the mystery, and the author did well concealing their identity and then revealing it all in the end. I would love to see the Mercer Building upper level in person, because the descriptions of the space made me want to know if my mental image was real. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves dogs, sweet mysteries, or just a nice book.

This book centers around Cassidy Carter who is the Receptionist. On one of her outings to rescue a dog, she meets up with Texas Game Warden, Justin Cameron. The dog she has rescued has had a Z painted on its body. As they work together to try to find out who is doing this, several more painted dogs show up, along with her new home being painted with a big Z. This leads to lots of time spent together trying to uncover this mystery, but also brings them close together. Will all the outings direct them to the culprit? How will all their time together end up relationshipwise?

You will not want to put this book down until you have completed it. I highly recommend it to lovers of cozy mysteries.

This was another fun addition to the series. I was excited for Cassidy to get her own story. She's relatable, kind, and has a strong faith that I admired. The mystery she stumbles upon is a head-scratcher. Why are dogs showing up all over town with the letter "Z" painted on them? I was eager to figure out what was really going on.

There's a new game warden in town who added an interesting new element to things. I didn't know what to think of Jason at first. He was very serious, gruff, and a strict rule follower. He's pretty much Cassidy's opposite, so I was unsure about the prospect of a romance between the two. But by the end of the story, I came to understand him and ended up liking him.

Even though this is book four, it works just fine as a standalone. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys light cozy mysteries.

Bark of Zorro is a great mystery of dogs and thise who love them. Cassidy works at the vet clinic as well as Second Chance Ranch Rescue. When she goes to rescue a dog on a dark and stormy night she discovers more than she expected. The dog has a Z painted on its side. The mystery deepens as more dogs appear in the small town with a Z painted on them. Who could be doing this and the bigger question us why? There are lots of suspects but no clear motives. In true Kathleen Y'Barbo style she leads the reader along a path to the answer as the story progresses. I am enjoying this series and have read them all.

** “Not everyone shares the same faith I do, but I would like to think they believe in hope and a future too. I know I have both in abundance, and I am grateful.” **

Kathleen Y’Barbo continues the Gone to the Dogs series she shares with Janice Thompson in “The Bark of Zorro,” another fun mystery filled with zany moments and an intriguing puzzle.

When dogs start appearing with the letter Z painted on their sides, Cassidy Carter, office manager at the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic and Second Chance Ranch Dog Rescue volunteer, joins forces with the new game warden in town, Jason Saye — who just happens to be the brother of one of her bosses at the clinic. They work together to solve the strange occurrences, all while getting dragged into filming a TV program amongst a building romance.

Can they solve the “Bark of Zorro” case, as well as other strange happenings in town, and will their blossoming relationship survive?

Once again, Y’Barbo creates a delightful story filled with twists and turns with just the right touch of romance. She develops delightful characters, building on stories from the series’ past installments. She also offers some great themes, including the power of friendship; having determination; offering a sense of protection; and having a hope and a future.

Told with an almost Mitford-like tone, readers of small town stories, cozy mysteries and animal tales will love “The Bark of Zorro,” which is due out April 1. This story could be read as a standalone, but I’d recommend reading the first three novels too.

Five stars out of five.

I think this is such an entertaining series. I have enjoyed each book so far. It is a plus that each author of a team keeps the stories blended and moving smoothly. You could easily think one author wrote them all.
There is a good mystery here that was tricky and well done. As with each book there is great laugh-out-loud humor and a 'budding' romance.
Someone has sprayed the letter Z on a dog that comes under the care of Lone Star Clinic's receptionist, Cassidy Carter. She is on a mission to learn who would do such a thing and where the dog belongs. She meets a game warden, Justin Cameron, who is followed on a television reality show before he becomes part of the investigation. There is a mutual attraction between the two.
I liked this story and want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy. This is my own unsolicited opinion. Cassidy has been a main stay character thought out the series. She is the perfect lead for this story. Justin is a good character. In all honesty I didn't particularly like that his character immediately assumes an overprotective attitude toward Cassidy. I so look forward to the next book in the series.

Ready for some light reading. Cassidy Carter, the office manager of the Lone Star Vet Clinic and her game warden love interest Justin Cameron, set out to discover who is stealing dogs, paints Z on them and then letting them lose. A light hearted cozy since there is no murder. Perfect for young and old alike. Loved the story plot. Keeps you guessing.
