The Bark of Zorro by Kathleen Y'Barbo is book #4 in the Gone to the Dogs series. This series is one where Kathleen Y'Barbo and Janice Thompson take turns writing the books. Kathleen Y'Barbo has written book #2 and book #4. Upon finishing this one I have now read all four books in the series. I highly recommend this series. The characters are well-developed and likable. The mysteries are intriguing and fun. In this book I found the idea of painting a "Z" on a dog fascinating and fun as finding out why was quite interesting. I just had to find out "who" and "why." I look forward to the next book in the series.

The main character, Cassidy Carter, is the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic’s office manager involved in the Second Chance Ranch Dog Rescue and is called out for rescue of a dog found to have a “Z” painted on his side.

The romance interest is game warden Justin Cameron who is participating in a reality show. I liked the dogs in the storyline as well as the inclusion of humorous highlights, not so much Justin. He bothered me as being too hovering and controlling, and for me red flags popped up. Not so for Cassidy apparently as, of course, he is gorgeous, sexy, and studly.

In the meantime, more than one dog sporting a “Z” is discovered and together (sort of) gather resources to find the perp. I had a little problem with the reveal—another of those who do not appear in the plot throughout the book and no way to have guessed.

The pacing is good and it’s wholesome. Cassidy tends to issue CYA regarding her position being “just an office manager” but is otherwise an engaging protagonist. The setting is interesting, the support characters entertaining, and I’ll likely seek a second in the series.

My thoughts: THE BARK OF ZORRO is the fourth book in this cozy mystery series but it easily stands alone. I loved reading about this cast of characters and getting to know them. I wasn't sure how Jason and Cassidy would work out as a couple as he is bossy, arrogant, and sometimes just plain rude and she is more easy-going, whatever-will-be-will-be. I really liked her friendly, down-home personality. I liked Jason, too, but still, the two of them together? The mystery was well-done and kept me guessing and I still hadn't figured it out by the end of the book. If you like cozy mysteries and dogs you will love THE BARK OF ZORRO and any of the other books in this series. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

I’ve enjoyed all of the Gone to the Dogs cozy mysteries. The Bark of Zorro features Cassidy Carter, the vet office’s manager and Texas game warden, Justin Cameron. They are working together (well, sort of) to figure out why dogs in Brenham, Texas are running around with a white Z painted on them. Unfortunately, TV cameras follow the two around and make the mystery more complicated. With twists, turns, humor, and appearances of the vet staff and Brenham residents, The Bark of Zorro is an enjoyable and fun cozy. If you love dogs and light cozies, you’ll want to read this one. I received a free copy and all opinions are my own.

I recieved a free eARC of this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

If you want a very, very light mystery with no graphic content (the whole mystery involves "who is kidnapping dogs, painting a Z on them, and releasing them) with similarly light romance, this is the book for you. It's not Agatha Christie. But it's a fun read, and would be a nice introduction for younger readers into the Cozy mystery genre. There is no inappropriate content, making this book a nice addition to school and community libraries.

Another cute story in this series! Maybe a little more romance in this one, but also a good mystery. There's a new and unexpected character in this story! I still love this series!!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book! All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Kathleen Y’Barbo’s The Bark of Zorro is the 4th edition in the Gone To The Dog Mystery Series. This installment follows Cassidy Carter and The Lone Star Veterinary Clinic as they uncover a string of rescues covered in paint. Cassidy is an adorable character and had me in stitches over her banter over Valentine's Day, dubbing it single awareness day. What better way to celebrate single awareness day than going to a dog rescue with a soggy cheeseburger in your pocket?

The Bark of Zorro is the perfect cozy mystery for a rainy weekend read. The characters are well-developed, and the scenes are well-described. I became wrapped up in the character's fondness for Scooby Doo themes, laughing out loud as she imagined every stormy night as the backdrop for suspense. The writing style is entertaining and fast-paced keeping the reader engaged until the last page. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this installment of the Gone to the Dog series and look forward to more from this author.

THE BARK OF ZORRO by KATHLEEN Y’BARBO is another amusing book in the Gone to the Dogs series. I Like the fact that, although the novels are written by different authors, the story and the characters follow on from one to the other.
In the small Texas town of Brenham there is something strange happening, and Cassidy Carter, office manager at the Lone Star Veterinary Clinic and volunteer at
Secod Chance Ranch Dog Rescue, is in the thick of it! She meets Jason the Gorgeous Game Warden and the two of them join forces to solve the case of the dogs who keep appearing with the letter Z painted on them. There is a lot more to the story and there are many twists and turns, but I will not tell you any more……..
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Barbour Publishing. The opinions in this review are completelymy own.

I enjoyed this book mostly. I liked the characters especially the dogs. I think the reveal of the bad guy is disappointing, missing the details, who is he, he’s not mentioned in the entire book. Explain his reasoning a little better and more lead up to who it is. #TheBarkofZorro #NetGalley

this was another great entry in the Gone to the Dogs series, it had what I enjoyed from previous books by Kathleen Y'Barbo. I thought it was a cute mystery going on and loved the journey in this book. I enjoyed the mystery itself and getting to know the characters again in this world. I look forward to read more from the author.

"Jason pulled into a parking space around the corner and out of sight of the clinic and shifted the truck into Park. He pulled a small leather notebook and silver pen out of his pocket, then shifted positions to face me. Silence. With both hands on the wheel, he stared straight ahead. When the silence grew uncomfortable, I nodded toward the door of Wyatt Chastain’s law office directly in front of the truck. “
