Valentines day! Sigh! The most romantic day of the year! It's the day we celebrate the love we have for our sweethearts. But for the lonely hearts they can come into How Sweet it is Chocolate shop; with hopeful hearts and an open mind they order the cupids chocolates. You see they aren't just your ordinary valentines day sweets. They hold the magic to finding your one true love. Legend is that if you eat one on Valentines day you will meet your soulmate. As the rumor gets around Dean; a skeptical Tv reporter comes into the shop to try to uncover the truth about the chocolates. Lucy
is hesitant to allow him access to her shop (and her heart). She works with him in coming up with the perfect news story that will help her business and his career. Working together interviewing other couples who fell in love thanks to Lucy's magic chocolates. Things start becoming complicated for the skeptic when he starts having mixed feelings about the chocolates and for the chocolate shop owner Lucy.

I listened to the audiobook version of the book. It had dual narration for the 2 main characters. Dean narrated by Andrew Eiden & Lucy Sweet narrated by Brittany Pressley.

This book is so sweet it will make your teeth hurt with all the smiling you'll do.

I can't wait to see it come out as a hallmark movie next week airing on Saturday February 4th on the hallmark Channel.

Thank you to Netgalley & Lizzie Shane for my audiobook copy of Sweeter than Chocolate.
I look forward to reading more by this author.

This novel was so sweet my teeth hurt! Small town setting, family business in danger of closing its doors if that shop across the street takes them out, and main characters who aren't so sure they believe in love or magic. Stir up those ingredients and top with magic love chocolates for a Valentine's Day romance! It was a quick read, and the audio was great to listen to - the narrators did a great job. Lizzie Shane gave us a diverse cast of characters and set up the romance well. The only two questions I had was - What happened with the shop across the street? It didn't play really any role at all in the plot. And, two - why don't we ever discuss Dean eating the reject cupid midway through the story? I was waiting for some kind of moment or big reveal then that was going to cause a smidge of turmoil. Overall, the book was fast-paced and satisfied the little romantic inside me. Oh, and it was sweet!

Sweeter Than Chocolate, by Lizzie Shane takes place at How Sweet It Is, a chocolate shop that's been in Lucy Sweet's family for generation. There's a legend that their Cupid Chocolates bring true love into anyone's life who eats one on Valentine's Day. When a sign goes up on the door across the street advertising a new French Bistro, Lucy's ready to face the competition. Lucy's friend gets engaged and when she posts about the cupid chocolates, the story goes viral. Dean, a local reporter is assigned the story and begrudgingly goes to the chocolate shop looking for a scam. From a conflict that is never really developed, to lackluster chemistry between Lucy and Dean, this book is a miss for me.

If you’re looking for a fluffy Valentine’s Day romance, Sweeter Than Chocolate is the PERFECT choice. Lucy Sweet is the owner and chief chocolatier at How Sweet It Is chocolates. Every Valentine’s Day, she creates and sells the Cupid Chocolate, which is rumored to magically help you meet your match if you eat it on February 14th. Dean, an ambitious local news reporter, has been assigned to record a piece on Lucy’s chocolates when a social media post on the Cupid Chocolate goes viral, but he’s skeptical about their supposed magic and about love in general.

When Dean is asked to record a multi-piece segment on Lucy and the chocolates, his cynicism is challenged as Lucy introduces him to different couples who have fallen in love over her magic chocolates. The two of them make chocolate together, laugh together, and challenge each other over their ideas of romance. He pushes her to believe in herself and her business and she demands that he cast aside his cynicism in the name of love. Sparks start to fly, both on and off camera, as Valentine’s Day gets closer and closer, and they both start to believe in the magic of the chocolates that brought them together.

I was pretty skeptical of this story at first. It seemed cliché and overly sentimental, but as I kept listening, thanks to the great Netgalley ARC, it really won me over. This is the perfect sweet holiday romance. While it’s not the deepest, and the characters are not the most well-rounded or deeply motivated, I loved the setting of the cute small-town chocolate shop and the cynical TV reporter. The best part of the book was the ending as it accelerated towards Valentine’s Day. There were a few twists at the end that really surprised me and brought it to a sweet and adorable climax. I appreciate that this book was cleaner than most romances, and while sometimes it had super cliché lines, such as, “I felt safe with her” and “She was different than other girls,” for the most part, it was a fluffy, adorable romance that I enjoyed. Recommended to all Hallmark holiday movie lovers!

3.5/5 rounded up

Thank you to Dreamscape Media, Hallmark Publishing, and NetGalley for the review copy of this audiobook.

This was a very cute and sweet, but predictable, romance with just the right amount of "cheese" for me. Perfect quick and easy Valentine's Day read. I typically light a bit more "rom-com" in my romances, but I love the cheesy ones. No spice. I can't wait to watch the Hallmark movie of this book. Narration was great.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Dreamscape Media & Hallmark publishing for my ARC copy. of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review of the audiobook. I finished the audiobook even though the whole plot was predictable. Boy insults girl. Boy then needs favor to girl. Girl decided to help him. Girl falls in love. Boy finally realizes love has been in front of him the whole time. Everyone lives happily ever after and of course there is always a supply of cupid chocolates. The best character was Lucy's Mexican hot chocolate loving grandma. We needed more scenes where she can extract revenge with a bit too much spice in her Mexican hot chocolate. Bottomline, it is a Hallmark feeling book to read if you are in the mood for gushy on Valentine's Day. I would rate this book C/C-.

I really enjoyed this cute story.
I couldn’t stop listening. I currently tend to like no spicy romances better, so that was an amazing bonus as well.

I loved Lucy and Dean but all of the characters were a lot of fun, especially the grandma!

I loved the whole idea about a chocolate shop and how much time they actually spend in that setting as well.
All of the treats made me miss my fave chocolate shop in California tbh.

It bugged me a little that in the end Lucy never told Dean about the first cupid chocolate he had eaten before already but well, overall it was amazing!

This was a sweet and lighthearted story about a woman who runs her family business, a small chocolate shop with one very unique tradition — that the special Cupid truffle possesses a history of bringing together couples on Valentine’s Day. When a disbelieving news anchor is required to do a few segments on the store and it’s happy romances resulting from this Cupid truffle history, the news anchor and chocolate shop owner end up forced into each other’s company over and over. Soon, she’s sharing about her love for chocolate making and her family’s traditions while his firm stance against true love is beginning to thaw. The question is, once the final segment is filmed in the shop on Valentine’s Day, what will come of this closeness between these two unlikely heroes once their time together is through?

This story was sweet and entertaining, just the light and fun romance for any Hallmark lover!

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and author for allowing me to listen to this book for free in exchange for giving a review. I enjoyed this book. It was a sweet, clean romance that made me fall in love with the characters. I definitely felt the emotions from the characters, and I enjoyed the comedy expressed throughout. The only thing I didn’t agree with was the gay agenda being expressed in the book with the side characters. However, I enjoyed the funny, loving banter between the two main characters.

A charmingly sweet romance that I can't wait to watch come to life on Hallmark! I adore Lucy's grandmother the most, and enjoyed all of her antics. Dean is sent to report on the magic of "Cupid Chocolates", but his skepticism shows from day one, so when a possible promotion is on the line, he quickly changes his tune.

This was almost a grumpy/sunshine trope, and I was entertained from start to finish. The author does a great job of reeling the reader into believing the magic of chocolate, and I found myself holding my breath waiting to see how everything panned out in the end.

This was a short and sweet romance that is perfect for Valentine’s Day. I loved how the story centered around a chocolate shop around Valentine’s Day and how these “magic” chocolates get people to find love. It was a sweet story.

💭Thoughts:
I’m a sucker for a romance from Hallmark Publishing. They are always so sweet and cozy. Sweeter Than Chocolate did not disappoint. It was a fun, heart warming, closed door romance. I found myself smiling the whole time I listened.

Dean and Lucy were so cute together. I loved their banter. They shared the kind of miscommunication I like. The kind that makes for fun banter. Not the kind that makes me dislike the characters. I enjoyed the dual POV. Both Dean and Lucy were narrated so well. I definitely recommend the audiobook. It’s the perfect book leading up Valentine’s Day!

Now where can I find my own Cupid chocolates?!

Sweeter Than Chocolate
Lizzie Shane
Sweeter Than Chocolate is the perfect roman leading up to Valentine’s Day.
Lucy is a chocolatier; she makes gourmet chocolates. Her family has owned and ran How Sweet It Is for generations. They have a special recipe for Cupid chocolates; according to legend if you eat one on February 14, you’ll meet your true love. Lucy isn’t sure she believes in the legend herself however, her great grandparents, grandparents and mother does, so does many of her customers. A wall in the shop is covered in photographs of couples swearing the legend is true.
Dean is a skeptical news reporter assigned to do an expose on the shop and legend. His boss has told him to keep the expose positive but he his instinct was to approach the shop as if it were a scam. He was sure Sweeter Than Chocolate was taking advantage of the public. After talking to Lucy, he began questioning his original opinion. The segment grew into several feature segments. The more time he spent with Lucy the more he was attracted to her.
Sweeter Than Chocolate is an adorable, sweet, romance. It is very clean; you won’t find steamy scenes in this tale.) The story is told from the 3rd person. Lucy and Dean are interesting and sweet. Neither character was looking for love; they both were career oriented. Lucy was concerned about the finances of the chocolate shop; she was afraid she would let her family down if the shop didn’t do well. She felt all the responsibility was on her shoulders. Dean wanted to advance his career; he was up for a news anchor position but was told he needed to find a way to relax his approach and appeal to a wider audience. It was sweet watching their love grow. This is a Hallmark book; I hope they make it into a movie.
I listened to the audiobook. The book is almost 8 hours long. It was narrated by Andrew Eiden and Brittany Pressley.

Sweeter Than Chocolate is the sweetest book ever! (Pun intended) This is the perfect Valentine's Day read and was released just in time to read it before the holiday. Lucy Sweet is an adorable lady who owns a chocolate shop built on family traditions. One of those traditions is the Cupid's Chocolate which helps you find your true love if you eat it on Valentine's day with belief in your heart.

The whole concept of the book was enough to make me jump on the opportunity to read a galley copy. Then, you add in Lucy's love interest and I melt because they are so sweet together. When Dean, a local reporter, enters the story, he is a love skeptic and initially wants to debunk the Cupid's Chocolate theory. Lucy is tasked with changing his mind while also trying to save the future of her business. These two will give you a toothache because their love is so wholesome and perfect.

If you want a light read that will make you swoon, I recommend this book as a V-Day read. This book resembles a Hallmark movie with all the romantic themes. I loved watching them overcome their obstacles and get their happily ever after. The epilogue made my heart swell and I ended this book with my heart satisfied.

Sweeter Than Chocolate is a delightful Valentine's Day treat that tells the story of Lucy, a chocolatier that runs her family's business that has found some instafame because of their "Cupid's" chocolates. These chocolates claim to bring true love to anyone that opens their heart and eats one on Valentine's Day. Dean is a reporter who is known for his cynical nature and has now been tasked with covering Lucy's shop for a fluff piece for his newstation. He begrudgingly takes the story and finds himself developing a friendship with Lucy and questioning his own denial of all things love and magic.

I really loved this book! I listened to it in one sitting and found myself smiling the whole time (and also munching on chocolate- LOL). I am so excited to see the movie when it airs on 2/4!! I recommend this for anyone who loves a good rom com or Hallmark movie!

Good writing, great narration, all around feed good read!!!

Sweeter than Chocolate by Lizzie Shane is a sweet story about a chocolate shoppe and a very cynical reporter who wants to expose the shoppe and its owner as frauds for claiming to sell chocolate that helps people fall in love. I really enjoyed this story. Be prepared for a story about 'magic' without it actually containing 'magic'.
Lucy Sweet, owns and runs her family’s chocolate store 'How Sweet It Is’. The shoppe has been in her family for four generations. Lucy is very passionate about making her family proud. There's an old family recipe for a chocolate that is famous in the small town for bringing people together with the 'magic' on Valentine’s Day.
What makes this story so fun are the characters and the whimsical idea of the chocolate bringing a couple together on February 14th, just by eating the Cupid chocolate.
When the skeptical TV reporter decides to report about the shoppe, there's some really 'sweet' discoveries and maybe a love interest found along the way.
Sweeter than Chocolate is an adorable story that could be a Hallmark movie that everyone would love.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Hallmark Publishing for an advanced readers copy and early audio copy. The narration is perfect. Narrated audio by one of my favorites, Brittany Pressley.
