I enjoyed this title as an audiobook. Wonderfully narrated by my favorite narrator Brittany Pressley. Male parts were read by Andrew Eiden which has lent his vocals to several very popular titles. I prefer audiobooks and they both did an excellent job.
Set during the worst time of year for singles and favorite time of year for lovers. Valentines Day. As the owner of a chocolate shop Lucy has a family secret. Determined to debunk the local chocolatier Dean strolls into How Sweet it is. Dean wants to do a feature for the news but quickly becomes smitten with the shops owner Lucy. This Enemies to Lovers story is going to be a Hallmark movie soon.
Although it is a typical romance it has all of the feel goods we want in a romance novel. There is not one single thing I disliked about this sweet romance. I don’t believe in adding spoilers so I will say this.
It’s a definite must read for the Valentines Season. Add it to your TBR!!!

I always love to read a Hallmark romance book being turned into a movie - Sweeter Than Chocolate is coming out as a movie very soon and after reading (and listening to) this one now, I’m extremely anxiously awaiting the release date for this one! It was so extremely good and sweet, just like the title!

As a massive Hallmark movie fan, and not looking this one up first, I was trying to picture which of my fave actors would suit the roles of Lucy and Dean best…. I think Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown would be perfect, though any would be truly great.

The story follows Lucy and her chocolate shop, which has been in her family for generations, with their “Cupid” chocolate - a special truffle that, if eaten on Valentine’s Day, has a legend that you can find your true love, because of magic. Dean is a reporter who does stories to help consumers find truth and uncover scams and cons. He’s been sent to do a story about a viral post about this chocolate shop and their love chocolates, jut before Valentine’s Day…. Cue Hallmark love story!

Audio - who doesn’t absolutely love the Teddy bear voice of Andrew Aiden!! Could listen to this man all day long. Love you, TH! And Brittany Pressley, a relatively new voice to me, new as of last year but narrated so many books I listened to just in a single year, is quickly moving to the top of my favourites. This gal is so immensely talented, and I really love her male voice! Fantastic job, both of you! Teddy and Brittany together is brilliant! I need to hear this combo together more.

I received an advance listen and review copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, Hallmark Publishing, and this is my honest feedback.

I absolutely loved this book. This was one of the cutest books I have ever read. I was so invested in the story that I couldn't stop reading it. The narrators did an amazing job of capturing the character's personalities. The relationships in this book were so adorable and I have no words for them. I was smiling through the entire book awaiting what was going to happen next. I would recommend this book to people that love a simple small-town romance that will leave you all gushy inside.

Sweeter than Chocolate by Lizzie Shane and narrated by Brittany Pressley; Andrew Eiden is a cute Valentine’s story. I really thought I was going to love this one, with the premise being the magic of chocolate and finding your true love. Additionally, I love pretty much anything and everything by Hallmark Publishing, but in this instance, I just didn’t connect. Lucy is charming and delightful. I love her no-nonsense approach to supporting her family business. She doesn’t want to spread false claims, but she sees the happy endings that others have experienced. Dean is a skeptic and while he attempts to be open, his hardened heart was a bit too tough for me. I wasn’t convinced of his coming around throughout the story. The supporting characters were sweet and spicy, like the grandma. I don’t personally care to read about same-sex relationship storylines, even if only supporting characters, so that was a contributing factor for me. It would be helpful to know when that will be a part of the story as I won’t intentionally choose it. I enjoyed the happy ending and the recipe provided at the end.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

"Lucy's chocolate shop, How Sweet It Is, has been in her family for generations...along with the secret recipe for Cupid chocolates. Rumor has it that if you eat one on February 14, you'll meet your soulmate. Lucy herself isn't sure if it's magic or just romantic optimism, but a family legend is at stake. Besides, with her grandmother to support and a rival bakery opening up across the street, it certainly doesn't hurt to believe.
Dean, an ambitious and skeptical TV reporter, doesn't like the idea of a business taking advantage of romantic desperation. He doesn't count on Lucy joining him as he tracks down and interviews couples supposedly brought together by the chocolates.
Together, they find that the truth can be complicated... especially when it comes to their own hearts
Thoughts:
Wow. Just wow. I absolutely LOVED this book! It was such a sweet romance that gave me ALL the feels!
Absolutely perfect little Hallmark movie story (&)!
Great for Valentine's Day reading! Swoon worthy!
The narrators also did an amazing job!
Did I mention it's Hallmark movie worthy? Well that's
NO JOKE. Because it really is going to be made into a Hallmark movie! As I was listening to this book, I could absolutely see how it would play out on a screen and I'm so glad they are adapting this one! I can't wait to see it!
Thank you @netgalley, @dreamscape_media and the author for this #gifted audiobook. All thoughts are my own.

Sweeter Than Chocolate was such a sweet rom-com. Lucy Sweet runs a chocolate shop called How Sweet it is. It’s a family-owned shop that has been in Lucy’s family for generations. The shop sells a special chocolate called Cupid Chocolates. The legend is that anyone who eats a Cupid on Valentine’s Day will meet their soulmate.

The legend of the chocolates gets on the internet and goes viral. Dean is a news reporter who is very skeptical of the chocolates. Dean begins a segment for the local news broadcast on the chocolates and he and Lucy speak with happy couples to get their story about the chocolates.

Dean and Lucy were such great characters. I loved listening to them argue about the chocolates after every interview. Watching Dean and Lucy’s relationship grow was terrific and perfectly written. They start out with Lucy being skeptical of Dean’s intentions and then they grow from there. The ending of this book brought a tear to my eye and I’m not ashamed to say it.

One quick thing I want to mention. Dean’s sister Georgie works at How Sweet it is to take a break and clear her head from school. Her major is Biomedical Engineering. As a Biomedical Engineer, I couldn’t contain my excitement when she said that was her major. For that reason, Georgie would have been my favorite character, but with Dean and Lucy being written so perfectly, it was impossible not to have them as my favorites.

I pre-ordered a copy of this book to give to my wife on Valentine's Day. This is the perfect gift for the holiday!

Featuring ~ dual 3rd person POV, small business owner, newscaster, kinda enemies~ish (maybe more off on the wrong foot) to friends to lovers, all around sweetness, slow burn, no steamage

Are Lucy's delectable cupid chocolates a myth or really magical? Dean is a skeptical newscaster doing a story on what he thinks is a scam.

Lucy & Dean were adorable. Neither were necessarily looking for love, but as they spend more and more time together their attraction inevitably grows. Absolutely no steamage for this sweet story.

Grandma was really a delightful character, as was everyone really. I wouldn't mind trying out some of the chocolate options they offered either. Overall, a light and easy read/listen with a pretty cute epilogue.
I don't watch Hallmark movies, but I'll totally be down with watching this one.

PS ~ how many reviews do you think include the word sweet? My guess is all of them 🤣

Narrated by Brittany Pressley and Andrew Eiden for 7 hours and 58 minutes. They did a fine job.

Do you love Hallmark movies? I love that they are always feel good movies with a HEA. Sweeter Than Chocolate is the perfect Valentine’s read for everyone looking for a closed door romance.

I loved that the book centered around a chocolatier who specialized in Belgian chocolates. One of my all-time favorite vacations was when I visited Brugge and got to eat their delicious chocolates. If you've never had Belgian chocolates you are definitely missing out!

In Hallmark fashion, Lucy and Dean were both likable characters that you rooted for not only in their love lives but in their professional lives as well. I loved that Lucy’s grandma was a little spunky! Grandparents are sometimes my favorite characters in books.

This was the first Lizzie Shane book I read and it won’t be the last! 4/5⭐️

I listened to the audio version and @brittpressley and @andreweiden were amazing.

What happens when a cynical journalist gets put on a story about magic chocolates helping people finding love? This book is just what you need to find out!

This audiobook was fantastic the narrators did a great job bringing Dean and Lucy to life. I loved this story and how the relationship developed. Dean and Lucy needed to work to trust themselves while also falling for each other.

Can chocolate be magic? Can love be magic? I personally believe the answer to both is yes as I am a devoted chocolate lover and will have been happily married for 30 years come this August. So, believing a chocolate shop can create a chocolate that helps boost love in your life is not outside the realm of possibility as love is a feeling, not a tangible item and belief is much the same. The author wove a wonderfully creative story of a sweet romance between a true believer and a definite non-believer. It is the perfect sweet story to listen to and be completely entertained by. The narrators do an amazing job of bringing the characters and their emotions to life so you will definitely want to put this book on your must listen list! I'd suggest grabbing some chocolate to enjoy with the story!

This a sweet clean romance that is an all-around HEA for Lucy. It is well written and warms you from the inside out. Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this ALC.

This was a sweet story of a chocolatier with a failing family business and a jaded news reporter whose personal goals clash until they realize that if they work together, they're more likely to accomplish what they want most. Lucy, to save her family business. And Dean to snag that anchor position he's always wanted.

But as they work together to help each other out, these two people who seem like complete opposites realize that attraction isn't the only thing that's pulling them together.

I really enjoyed this storyline, and the narrators did a wonderful job bringing the story to life.

Thank you to Lizzie Shane, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the advance review copy.

Quick Summary: A sugary sweetness romance

My Review: Sweeter Than Chocolate by Lizzie Shane was a scrumptious treat. It delighted me with its cuteness. From the playful title to the diverse cast of characters to the yummy theme, this Hallmark movie (in book form) was just what I needed. It was humorous, simple, relatable, and lively. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

While there were many aspects of this story that stood out, there were two things that grabbed my attention. The first thing that captivated me was how different and yet similar everyone's approach to love or finding and acknowledging love was. The second thing that drew my attention was the diverse relationships and the associated dynamics of those relationships. I was not expecting so many different connection types.

My Final Say: I would love to see this come to life in a Hallmark movie. It would be so easy to smile my way through it. It's the kind of romance that makes you cheer for Cupid to do his best with the couple that was meant to be.

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Hallmark Publishing for allowing me to listen pre-publication.
What a “sweet” story this is! It will make the perfect plot for a Hallmark movie. Lucy owns a chocolate shop that has been passed down in the family. The shop sells a secret recipe “Cupid chocolate” that is rumored to have magic. If you eat one on Valentine’s Day, you are destined to meet your true love. Dean, a news reporter is determined to foil what he thinks is Lucy’s plan to profit on a fake story. However, after they meet he begins to wonder if it is a ploy at all. Can Lucy convince Dean to believe in the magic?
The narration is smooth and pleasant to listen to. I would definitely recommend this audiobook to fellow readers.

This story was just as sweet as the title suggests.
I was excited to check this audio out when I noticed Andrew Eiden was one of the narrators.
Love that dudes voice!
I am not a big fan of miscommunication, and this had some of course.
Buuuut it also takes place in a chocolate shop, so much chocolate conversations, delicious.
I also loved the implication of magic without it actually containing magic.
Like life is magic for everyone if you want it to be?
Overall a good time!
Much love to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media & Hallmark Publishing for my DRC.

This is the feel-good, fluffy romance that I needed!

Would you believe that there is a magic chocolate that helps you find true love? Well, that's exactly what Lucy's chocolate shop is known for! After a recent social media post by Lucy's BFF goes viral, a local news station catches wind of the Cupid chocolates and sends their reporter Dean to do a fluff piece - a story he really doesn't want to cover.

I fell in love with this story. The small town is charming, the friendships are the best, and the magic of love is cute as all get out.

Absolutely the perfect Valentine’s Day read!! Dean is an investigative journalist who is looking into stories of magic chocolates that make a person fall in love if eaten on February 14th! Lucy, the spunky chocolatier, was so lovable, and the chocolate shop friends made for a great supporting cast! The narrators were wonderful - both male and female voices made the story even more enjoyable. Not over-the-top sexy, just very sweet!

I really enjoyed this book. Dean and Lucy are well-developed character whom I found very relatable. These characters had me cheering for them from the start – both as individuals and as a couple. The side characters are eclectic and interesting. They added to the fabric of the story – especially Lucy’s grandmother.

The story and romance are both interesting and I enjoyed how it played out. The story is well written and easy to read. It’s one of those books that leaves you feeling happy and satisfied at the end.

I listened to this book on audio and very much enjoyed it. The narrators did a good job and are easy to listen to and understand regardless of the speed at which I listened.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
