Lucy comes from a line of chocolatiers and is now owner of her family's chocolate shop. This particular chocolate chop is special- they sell "cupid chocolates", that when eaten causes the consumer to fall in love. Lucy is very careful not to make guarantees and shies from publicizing the cupid chocolates due to fear of being sued. But when the story goes viral, everyone suddenly wants a cupid chocolate.

Dean is a TV reporter- known for investigating corruption and scams. He is also cynical when it comes to love. He is then assigned to report on Lucy's chocolate shop. He instantly wants to expose the cupid chocolate myth, but the news station insists that he needs to make it a light puff piece. Can getting to know Lucy and some of the cupid chocolate matches turn him into a believer?

This was cute. I am sometimes apprehensive about reading Hallmark books as they can be a little TOO sweet. But the concept sounded cute and the audiobook is narrated by two of my favorite narrators - Brittany Pressley and Andrew Eiden (who also reads under the more known pseudonym Teddy Hamilton)- so I gave it a shot. And I am glad I did. I am not a Hallmark movie watcher, but I am not going to lie- I may actually look for this one!

Anyway, a super cute read that is perfect for Valentine's Day.

Until the end, I was on the fence on how to rate it. But there was an eye-roll worthy plot line that made me go down instead of up. <spoiler> Lucy stopped believing in the magic of the chocolates and feared a lawsuit. So she contemplated canceling all orders the DAY BEFORE VALENTINE'S DAY in order to save the shop's reputation. Um, pretty sure canceling the orders would enrage everyone and she would no longer have a shop.... </spoiler>

How Sweet it is!

Lucy's chocolate shop, How Sweet It Is, has been in her family for generations. So have the "Cupid Chocolates" Rumor has it if you eat one on Valentine’s Day, you will find love. They chocolate shop even has a wall of pictures showing those who have found a soulmate. Lucy isn't quite sure if it is magic or optimism which makes people fall in love, but she will keep making the chocolates. She is worried about competition on the street and prices increase.

Dean is a television report who does not believe in love. He has his reasons for being skeptical. When he is assigned to do a story on Lucy's chocolate shop, he sticks his foot in it, when he tells Lucy he believes the chocolates are a scam, not knowing who was talking with. Although a skeptic, he does stories on those who have found love with Lucy by his side.

Will they find the magic? Do the Cupid Chocolates really work?

Both Dean and Lucy are likeable characters. It's all about the journey and this was a sweet one. I enjoyed the stories of the couples on the wall as much as I enjoyed Lucy, her grandmother, Dean and his sister. The characters had me rooting for them when I wasn't shaking my head at some of them.

If you are looking for a sweet light romance (no steamy scenes here), this book will hit the spot. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration as much as I did the story.

This was a sweet book which will soon be a Hallmark movie.

3.5 stars
Lucy is fourth generation chocolatier of the infamous Cupids. The Cupids are chocolates that many people believe are magical when eaten on Valentines Day. Dean, a hard-hitting TV reporter is skeptical about the magical properties of the Cupids. Through a series of interviews, events and the Cupids Lucy and Dean may come to understand their connection to each other and the nature of love.

Of course, while I’m listening to the book I want nothing more than to eat my weight in chocolate. This is a lighthearted romance with a contentious beginning. Not exactly enemies to lovers. Grandma is so much fun and I laughed at the Mexican hot chocolate scene. I let the story take me on a journey and didn’t try and dissect character growth or flaws. It was a cute and fun journey.

I listened to the first two chapters at regular speed but then sped it up to 1.75. I’ve heard both narrators before and I like them. They do a good job with conveying the emotions in the book.

I just wasn't into this book as i wanted to be. Just didn't like the chemistry in the characters. The premise was great, tho. And i can't wait to see this on tv. I loved the female narrator brittany pressley but the man one. I feel that in this book, i only wanted the female narrative.

This story made me smile from start to finish. An adorable cast of characters where opposites attract, some are cynics with closed hearts, others that wear them on their sleeves, small town nosiness, a sweet invasive wonky, but very loving grandmother, good friends and a lot of hope and chocolate make for the perfect sweet story. Honestly there are no big surprises, but from the start you will only want a happily ever after for Lucy and Dean. If you need a feel good, hopeful easy sweet listen than this is for you. It surely was for me.

This book was amazing! I am very grateful I received this ARC. This is the best romance book I have read. It received 5 stars based on the average of the categories on my rating scale: writing style (5 stars), relatability (4 stars), originality (5 stars), readability (5 stars), personal impact (4 stars), and plot (5 stars). This was an amazing story! I loved the writing style, it kept my attention, and in general was a very cute romance. I have a love hate relationship with the kiss interruptions: I love them because they kept us waiting, but by the third time Dean and Lucy had been interrupted, I was getting a little annoyed and impatient. In spite of this, I loved everything else about this book. There also was a tiny blip in the audio for the book. I can't remember what chapter unfortunately, but a phrase is repeated twice, like the narrator had taken two takes of one section and forgot to completely edited out all of the dialogue from one of those takes. It was during a section that Brittnay Pressley narrated.

I smiled the entire time that I listened to this sweet story. I was so caught up in the story of Lucy and Dean, and I absolutely adored every second that I spent with these characters. I wish I could visit Lucy's chocolate shop and pickup my own Cupid Chocolates. I can't wait to see this Hallmark movie next month too!

Lucy Sweet runs her family's chocolate shop called 'How Sweet It Is'. She learned the recipes from her great-grandmother and her grandfather, and she now owns the bakery with the help of her grandmother. Lucy devotes her life to making chocolates, and she loves that her treats make other people smile. Lucy's shop sells a special chocolate called The Cupid Chocolate. Legend has it that if you eat a Cupid Chocolate on Valentine's Day, you will find your true love.

When Lucy's best friend, Lina, posts about her experience with the Cupid Chocolate on social media, it goes viral! Lina tells of how she met her fiancee, Tyler, after they both ate Cupid Chocolates on the previous Valentine's Day. The social media post grabs the attention of a local TV station, and the producers assign a reporter named Dean with the assignment.

Typically, Dean does investigative or political stories, but his producer tells him about an opening for a morning anchor position. She thinks that it will help Dean get the job, if he does more of a human interest story on Lucy's chocolate shop. Dean is cynical, and he doesn't believe in the magic of the chocolates, but he goes to meet Lucy anyway. Let's just say... he doesn't make the best first impression.

As he spends more time with Lucy at her chocolate shop, Dean starts to soften to the idea of finding love, and he starts to see Lucy in a different light. Lucy has been unlucky in love too, and she questions her feelings for Dean. Will they find their happily ever after?

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC of this delightful audiobook. Both narrators, Brittany Pressley and Andrew Eiden, did an amazing job of bringing Lizzie Shane's adorable characters and story to life.

This is such a fun book for Valentine's Day - cute and sweet! Lucy Sweet loves being a chocolatier and keeping her family's legacy going at How Sweet It Is, including making Cupid chocolates, which are known to unearth soulmates. When cynical reporter Dean sets out to prove that it's a fraud, they will both need to open themselves up to new possibilities.

This definitely has the makings of a Hallmark movie - a meet cute, small town business in trouble, convenient connections between characters, meddling friends and family, and a decadent setting for it all to take place. However, I found that the middle dragged and a bit and I was underwhelmed by the romance. I did love the narrators - Andrew Eiden in particular was a great casting for Dean - and this was a quick and easy listen that is perfectly themed for Valentine's Day.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing me with an advance listeners copy to review! I enjoyed it.

I absolutely LOVED this sweet story...so much so that I listened to it in one day!! The enemies to lovers troupe comes into play when Dean, a TV reporter, thinks that the chocolates that people claim have "magical love powers" that Lucy sells at her chocolate shop, How Sweet It Is, are a scam. Lucy is on a mission to prove him wrong, but the more time they start to spend together, the more Dean realizes how maybe it's the belief in them that makes them special. I felt like it was a Hallmark Christmas movie and it is definitely one that I would love to watch. The narrators voice was exactly what would I picture the characters to sound like and I was entertained the whole time!

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced copy!

This was a sweet (literally) enemies to lovers story about a cynical reporter who tries to expose a chocolate shop and its owner as frauds for claiming to sell chocolate cupids that can help people fall in love. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, seeing the cynic become a believer and fall for the small town, family-owned businesswoman. Great on audio narrated by one of my favs, Brittany Pressley. SO much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!!
