Running a book blog and bookish social channels, I'm always aiming to keep up on not only what books are popular now, but what books to look out for in the coming weeks and months. Buzz Books 2023: Spring/Summer offers previews of dozens of upcoming books - both fiction and nonfiction. It includes the planned release dates of an extensive list of books, and select books include brief summaries and fairly long excerpts (around 10+ pages) of each one.

Many of the books listed and excerpted here were already on my radar, and I was grateful for the early preview of them. It only builds up my excitement for them! However, I was also thrilled to learn of so many additional books I hadn't yet heard of. Needless to say, my list of highly anticipated books has gotten longer after going through these previews.

Some of the books I was already anticipating, and of which I enjoyed the excerpts here, include Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo, Take the Long Way Home by Rochelle Alers, Homecoming by Kate Morton, Medusa's Sisters by Lauren J. A. Bear, House of Cotton by Monica Brashears, Clytemnestra by Costanza Casati, Sisters of the Lost Nation by Nick Medina, and Queen Bee by Amalie Howard.

Some books that were new to me and are now on my list include The Woman in the Castello by Kelsey James, You Can't Stay Here Forever by Katherine Lin, Homebodies by Tembe Denton-Hurst, Berlin by Bea Setton, and The History of a Difficult Child by Mihret Sibhat.

There are also several nonfiction books that weren't on my radar, but I will be checking them out upon publication.

There is so much to look forward to this spring and summer, and I'm glad to have gotten this preview of what's coming.

I love these Buzz Books previews — they give me so many new books to put on my tbr! I'm especially excited for the Elizabeth Acevedo book, and hoping to check out some of the debuts, too.

This is the first of this series I've looked through, and what a treat it is for most readers. Excerpts were included from several books which interested me, even though it leans heavily to fiction rather than the nonfiction which I mostly read, and that at my age, I'm generally more interested in rereading (or finally reading for the first time) the books I've accumulated over the years than I am in discovering new ones.

I look forward to the publication of Buzz Books every season and it never disappoints. This is my source for finding out when my favorite authors are coming out with new books and which debut authors will soon be added to my list of favorites.. This installment of Buzz Books is filled with delicious excerpts that are both culturally and historically rich. I am already in love with some of the complex, witty characters, and many of the beautifully described settings have me ready to add some stamps to my passport.

The list of upcoming reads in every category is extensive and gave me a lot to look forward to this Spring and Summer. Keep these Buzz Book volumes coming!

Wow! So many good books coming out! Readers need to clear some of their TBR mountains to make room for them! I requested quite a few, okay 14 and had auto access to a huge pile as well! I always devour these Buzz Books as soon as they are available. What an awesome way to get exposed to books you wouldn't normally look at. I love this idea of reading snippets of stories to see if you like the writing and the book.

I look forward to each and every edition of Publishers Lunch/Buzz Books compendiums. There is absolutely no better way to learn about forthcoming book titles. Find out about many fiction titles from literary to debut to commercial and more; see all of the non-fiction to anticipate, everything from memoirs to history and more. Then, to make it even better, there are generous book excerpts. I especially enjoyed the one by Kate Morton. Those who love reading will want to immediately download this title and start making their lists. AND IT IS FREE!!

Many thanks to NetGalley and BuzzBooks for this title. All opinions are my own.

I’m so thankful for these excerpts. Usually, I’ve seen most of the titles but I’m always happy to read new samples. I was able to find a title I hadn’t come across and already requested it. (Throwback by Maurene Goo) Thanks so much for the heads up and the awesome new reads.

Thanks to NetGalley and BookBuzz for the excerpts

I’m always on the lookout for the newest edition of Buzz Books by Publishers Lunch. The 2023: Spring/Summer edition is without a doubt the most extensive and stacked edition I’ve ever seen. The preview alone is an absolute goldmine! It’s a comprehensive list of books listing author, publisher, and pub dates. I’ve got scattered lists on calendars, planners, etc, but this is amazing! And that’s just the first few pages. I’ve never seen a drop with so many books I can’t wait to read. I immediately inhaled the summaries of Kate Morton’s Homecoming, Elizabeth Acevedo’s Family Lore, and debut author Shelley Read’s Go As A River. Thank you for putting together such a well crafted resource. I’ll be using this all season!
