One of my most anticipated reads of 2023, and I'm here to tell you it DID NOT disappoint! This was partly a dark, entertaining commentary on the importance we place on social media and the impact that one tweet can have, but it was mainly a brilliantly plotted locked room mystery that will have your head spinning!

A few months ago, my Instagram feed was filled with pictures of Thrillerfest, and I was fawning over my favorite authors all being at the same location! Hendricks creates the fictional Murderpalooza, complete with panels, agents, industry talk, and thriller authors. Told in alternating points of view over the span of just about a day, this is a fast-paced exposรฉ into the lives of four rival authors after one of their counterparts, Kristin Bailey, is stabbed to death in her hotel room. They all have secrets, and someone knows. A Twitter account follows only the four of them and regularly sends out threatening tweets. As secrets are revealed and the authors begin turning on each other, the pace picked up the point that I damn near thought I was going to have a heart attack!

I know the book is fiction, but it was a lot of fun to try to imagine real authors in the place of the fictional ones. There's a mid-lister, an egomaniac, a has-been, and a newbie, and I had lots of fun imagining who the egomaniac would be!

I DIDN'T DO IT releases May 23, 2023. SO many thanks To NetGalley and Scarlet Suspense/Penzler Pub for the early read! A sincere thanks to the author for enduring my "OMG" and "WTF" messages while reading!

You are cordially invited to Murderpolooza an exciting celebration of thriller writers!

I could not put this book down! I love books centered on writers and this one is all about thriller writers. The plot twists had me shook as they rolled out one after the next. I love a whodunnit and this is a good one!

Beloved and best selling thriller writer Kristen Bailey is found murdered in her hotel room during Muderpolooza. Three rival authors and one stalker are the prime suspects. They all have connections to Kristen and motives for wanting her out of the way. An anonymous social media account begins sending messages to the group urging them to confess. They decide they need to stick together to figure out who is behind this and why. Who else could solve a mystery better than those who write them?

I Didnโ€™t Do It is available May 23,2023.

Thank you to netgalley and penzelerpublishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you for the ARC, the book was entertaining throughout and each character kept you guessing. I did catch on that something wasnโ€™t right as a murder investigation would never be handled by a hotel representative.

Arghhh! Iโ€™m a little disappointed right now! Here comes my 2.5 rounded 3 semi satisfied starred review!

I was so close to give this book two stars! If you ask me why; I hated the entire characters passionately! I differentiate them as worst ones: Stalkanne, douchebag Davis and less awful but still unlikable ones: Vicky, Mike!

They are thriller authors who attended to the thriller writersโ€™ conference called Murderpalooza ( I also found the convention name nonsense) Two female and two male authors are nominated with their last books for the best thriller of the year category.

One of the nominees, the popular bestselling author Kristin Bailey found stabbed in her hotel room and the perpetrator starts targeting four fellow authors by putting blame on them, sending threatening messages by unknown phone account.

Vicky Overton, thirty, one of the other nominees for the awards, joining the convention with her editor boyfriend Jim who might have a secret affair with Kristin. Sheโ€™s one of the prime suspects because of the affair and her rivalry with Kristin.

Mike Brooks, 48, struggling author who plans his comeback with his very secret co-writer. But unfortunately his co-writer is dead and their book takes place in thriller convention where one of the authors got murdered by her co-writer. Too coincidental right? It means he is also prime suspect.

Davis Walton, in his early thirties, is thrillerโ€™s new rockstar, sold his bestselling bookโ€™s rights to the movie producers. His unstoppable climbing on career ladders can be stopped by the secrets Kristin knew about him. Could she share those secrets with anyone before she died?

And newbie author, 24 years old Suzanne/ a.k.a. Stalkanne Shih was already warned by Kristinโ€™s lawyers for her extra stalking tendencies! She might be the last person who has seen Kristin alive by forcing herself into her room. Of course she is the one of the suspects!

As suspicious Twitter account keeps sharing their dirty secrets, they turn on each other quickly. Could one of them be killer? Absolutely!

I found all of them one dimensional and dislikable! I didnโ€™t care about Kristin and I didnโ€™t care four of them! I found the big twist a little far fetched but it was still smart! Thatโ€™s why i still gave the book three stars instead of two!
But the ending made me roll my eyes! Really? Iโ€™m always open to any kind batsh*t craziness. But that ending is more absurd than I expected.

I loved the authorโ€™s previous two books so much more. I found the entire execution unreliable! Thankfully the pace was fast. I kept wondering how the entire story would be wrapping up! At least I didnโ€™t get bored!

I wish I could enjoy this book a little more! Iโ€™m f you still look for fast pacing, popcorn whodunnit thriller, itโ€™s still good choice ( but not great choice)

Iโ€™m still looking forward to read the next book of the author. I hope Iโ€™ll enjoy it more!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Penzler Publishers/ Scarlet for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

4.75/5 stars! This is like an adult version of "One of Us is Lying" and as a crime tv and mystery book junkie, I love it. I also love book conventions so the setting of this book had me hooked. I was kept guessing the entire book and DID NOT SEE THAT ENDING COMING! Ahhhhh! I have nothing bad to say about this book, except that there wasn't more of it.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

OH MY GOSH! I loved this book
Introducing Murderpalooza - the biggest conference for mystery writers held annually in New York. As we get to know the players - a woman, well liked, and up for the most prestigious award at the event is murdered! The rag tag group of authors contact each other to see if they can solve the murder before one of them is next. You won't guess this ending and you will have so much fun along the way. I really, really loved the twist! If you love murder mysteries, want to know more about the authors that write them, or just enjoy unique twists in your stories, I Didn't Do It is for you! #PenzlerPub #IDidntDoIt #JamieLynnHendricks

I loved the idea of a suspense writer convention and someone gets murdered. Jaime Lynn Hendricks does a great job in telling the story and it was really well written. I enjoyed the way the characters were created and felt like real people. I enjoyed what was going on and it did what a good mystery/thriller novel should do. I can't wait to read more from the author, as I really enjoyed this book.

"No way. It was that crazy little bitch, Suzanne Shih. The one whoโ€™d been stalking her for years. She panicked, and just as she tried to push the door closed, Suzanne shoved her arm between the hall and Kristinโ€™s room, a violation even worse than showing up unannounced."
