This is a thorough guide to the removal of the old, and installation of your new bathroom. It has instructions alongside step by step illustrations and photographs showing how to remove and fit toilets, sinks, baths, showers, taps, tiling, lighting and bathroom accessories. An extremely useful book for anyone contemplating fitting their own bathroom. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange of an honest review.

I reviewed Bathrooms and Plumbing at the same time. While they share some common information and diagrams, the Bathrooms guide goes into significant detail about the design and style and layout options involved in creating a bathroom. My experience in plumbing is quite limited, but I've done enough to verify that the instructions for things I've done looks accurate and informative, and the instructions for things I have not done seems detailed and adequate to follow if I was going to do those things in the future. I'll absolutely be keeping this one in mind for future projects.

When a reputable household name publishes something like this, just can't go wrong considering what plumbers charge. I found it really informative and interesting. When I need a new bathroom if I am not able to tackle it myself at least I will be able to talk confidently with the trades person and won't feel ripped off.
A must have book for everyone.

With a bathroom renovation in our near future I found this book extremely helpful in our planning process. I am sure it will be a resource later in our renovation as well. Filled with tips, tricks, photos and instructions this book is an asset for any home DIYer. I appreciated the information with products, types and recommendations. When starting a big project like a renovation it can easily become overwhelming and this book calmed those nerves. I also can see the book as a reference for smaller projects too! I found the recommended clearances extremely helpful, along with building codes.

Thank you to Chris Peterson, NetGalley and Cool Springs Press for the arc of this book.

This is a very dense reading material for information about bathrooms. It looks like a magazine for me but the content was really adequate especially with different materials needed and/or most appropriate on different things included in bathrooms. The two negatives that I have for this book is that the formatting/layout was too jammed together that it makes the reading experience hard and it is sometimes boring for me personally. Nonetheless, the content is very thorough and there's pictures so that we can accurately see what the book is talking about.

After reading through this book, am I going to become a bathroom renovator/installer/plumber/construction person? Absolutely not.
Will I undertake full renovations of our bathrooms on my own? Highly unlikely.
Will I attempt parts of renovations in our bathrooms? Maybe.

Will I have confidence to work with professionals to design a bathroom and then oversee its renovation? YES

This book provides straightforward guidance and advice on how to build/renovate bathrooms, from angle of drainage pipes to installing wet walls, installing sinks, and so much more. Basically, if its meant to be in a bathroom, this book most likely covers it.

I appreciated the step by step pictures and instructions that were not vague.

Overall, this would be a good reference guide to have on hand for anyone who wants to renovate their bathroom on their own, or wants to understand the process better and hire professionals to do the work.

Black and Decker's Complete Guide to Bathrooms (6th Edition) by Chris Peterson is so full of great ideas and resources. I love the Measurement Conversions and the Nail lengths at the back of the book. The book also includes several manufacturer resources.

I purchased a home in 2020 that was built in 2006 with no upgrades. So I wanted to read this book to get ideas for improving my home.

Some of the information seems geared more toward professional or serious-minded handy persons or people who want to get down and dirty with remodeling. But the information was still informative and interesting. I would recommend this book. It's a great resource to have on hand and one to refer to often to get information and ideas.
