Real thriller fans, this one’s for you.

I was blown away by this book! I couldn’t put it down. I love a good story about fighting for survival. Odds are stacked against the people on the flight. The first sign of trouble is when pilots die and no one can figure out why. Things only get worse when a genetically modified animal called a mega-T breaks loose. The chances of anyone surviving dwindle with every page. The ending is genius.

I was tired of plodding through slow-burn thrillers with long, drawn-out sections and was searching for a book with a tight plot. Nowhere to Land was exactly what I wanted. If you want a book with a tight storyline, read this edge-of-your-seat thriller. Ms. Houston knows how to write a pulse pounding thriller! I can’t wait to read her next book.

Thank you NetGalley and Yorkinton

This story is the kind of story that makes no sense and one of the previous reviewers said almost exactly what I was thinking:

The action occurs mostly on a 747, with its passengers in a desperate fight for survival.
Our antagonist is a scientific experiment that is being transported. Unfortunately, its genetic make up means it can shift and modify, and has the kind of relentless need to destroy that makes for a truly horrifying enemy. As passenger after passenger is picked off, those remaining are caught in a frantic bid for survival.

For this to be successful you have to completely suspend any sense of normality. From start to finish the scenarios these characters are placed in are absurd, and it struck me throughout that we would be very unlikely to have anywhere near the level of success we see in dealing with this danger.

If you’re in the mood for something scary and completely over the top then this will probably be perfect.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC of this novel.

Realistic terror is always more terrifying than fantasy. This book does have a fantastical element to it but it also realistic and that made it incredibly terrifying. I could imagine a scenario like this happening and I went through the same fear the characters do.
I am not going to suggest this is a really well written read and my rating would have been lower. However, something about this book really pulled me in and I was hooked. I found myself on the edge of my seat, desperate to know if anyone would survive and how.
The book has a slow, confusing start but as things start to become clearer and the action gets going this is a whirlwind of a read that you will not be able to forget in a hurry.
Thank you to NetGalley and Yorkinton for an advance copy.

With non stop thriller I couldn't have asked for more. The tension is so taught and running on all cylinders. I could read this again and again, just to get that adrenaline rush.

A sad DNF for me!

The writing is very voice-y, which usually I love, but—I have to say I wasn’t sold on this one! The metaphors were very bizarre, and going too far at points, and the opening chapters seemed pretty caricatured—pacey to the point of jarring with minimal character development besides establishing that each character had a chip on their shoulders.

Sad not to be able to get through this one—but it was quite a bit different from what I expected, and in reading others’ reviews, apparently it becomes even more-so by leaning into the sci-fi element.

Still, very grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Fast action to the max.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a book that will keep their hearts racing nonstop until they read the last word on the last page. The fast-paced thriller gripped me from the start with some of the best action scenes ever.

Within the first three pages, a man kicks some serious butt in a surprising way, a police car is the one being chased, dangerous criminals are on the rampage, and a box containing secrets is stolen. I thought there was no way this pace could continue for the rest of the book. If anything, it got even faster. I kept waiting for a lull in the story to take a break. I didn’t find one until I had finished the book. I can’t wait to read the next book by this author.

Thank you NetGalley and Yorkinton for the opportunity to review this book.

This book never got going for me. The writing was too slow and I ended up not caring about the story at all.

I am very picky about the books I read. I need them to go at a quick pace and don't care much for a ton of details and this book just bogged down.

I do appreciate how hard it is to write,

As if being stuck on a plane with no fuel and no landing zone in sight is bad enough, imaging doing it while being hunted by a creature out of your worst nightmare. Teretha Houston’s thrill ride of a story reads just like a movie. It made me think of if Jurassic park was crossed with Snakes on a Plane. This one can be described as part horror, part thriller and all action.

My only feedback would be that the blurb doesn’t really do this one justice. If I hadn’t read the part at the end mentioning Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, I’d have overlooked this one. The premise makes it sound like a disaster thriller about a plane. I think it could benefit from making it a little clearer, otherwise I think people will presume terrorists or human threats which may put off fans of horror or sci fi action.

They have nowhere to run, nowhere to land, and they’re running out of sky.

In her fast-paced thriller, Houston examines second chances and reveals that oftentimes, the most difficult person to forgive is oneself.

I’ll be honest, this was a book like no other I’ve read.

I’m not a big sci-fi reader, so suspending disbelief was difficult for me.

It’s been described as “Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park blended with T.J. Newman’s Falling with a bit of Stephen King horror at its core.”

You’ll experience a whole range of emotions with this one. One moment I was laughing at the cheesy dialogue and the next I was in an adrenaline-fuelled frenzy. Added into the mix were many eyebrow-raising moments where I had no idea what was going to happen next…or even what was happening at the moment! You may be tempted to put it down. Give it another chance. It’s good entertainment….with a horror flare.

I was gifted this book by Yorkinton and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

If there is a plane on the cover with a catchy title , I am sold.

I read this over the weekend after finishing a heavy read and it was exactly what I needed. A propulsive page turner that kept me guessing and engaged throughout. I really enjoyed this one. It does exactly what it says on the tin!

Would read more from this author.

Nowhere to Land is the kind of story that makes no sense - on most levels - and plunges its characters from one bizarre situation to the next.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. My review is given freely in the hope it is helpful to others.
Nowhere to Land is a fast moving story about a genetically engineered creature being transported aboard a combination passenger/freight plane. It’s a fun read, reminiscent of a creature feature film. The body count is high and the story moves at a rapid pace.

I received an ARC through "NetGalley" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story is different than the type that I normally. The action is more of a Horror type than a thriller. As I was reading along, I at first didn't understand what was going on. Later the story really began and I continued reading. The description of the events that happened were well done and will certainly grab you if you like a book that is scary.

Because it didn't grab me like a lot of other thrillers, I rated it slightly lower for that.

What a packed roller-coaster of a story! This was intense, but it got to the point where I found it to be borderline ridiculous at times because of all the crazy shit that went down. I also never really understood how the beginning of the book lined up with the events of the story. An overall, enjoyable read that would probably make a great movie. Oh, and bonus points on creating a monster that felt like a mash up of the genetically modified dinosaur in Jurassic Wolrd and Alien.
