I was very excited to read the second book in the Royal Street Book Series, after thoroughly enjoying the first book (The Shop on Royal Street). This book picks up shortly after the first book ended, with Nola Trenholm renovating her haunted cottage and helping the Ryan family solved their family mysteries. Though Beau's long-lost sister reappeared at the end of the first novel, Beau's mother and grandfather are still haunting the living, along with a very sinister new spirit. My favorite character in this series is Nola's roommate Jolene, and I felt like she might have been the highlight of this story (I found the first book to be better, but am very much looking forward to the third!)

The House on Prytania by K. White is the second book in Royal Street, the spin-off of the Tradd Street series. The previous book is The Shop on Royal Street and I strongly recommend to read the books in order.
THoP picks up where the previous book was left off.
Nola helps find out what happened to Sunny, the sister of Beau. There are still ghosts in the shop and Nola has her hands full, But she has great friends, friends that already showed in book one and I loved meeting the crew again.
A pnr thriller, set in Charleston and New Orleans, with outstanding writing is The House on Prytania, published by Berkley Publishing/ Penguin Random House a read that stays with you.

Yesterday I read The House on Prytania and all I wanted while reading was beignets

The House on Prytania is book two in the Royal Street series (that is a spin off of the Tradd Street series). Nola is still working on renovating her cottage but the ghosts are still there and we're right at the continuation of the first book.

I loved having Mellie, Jack and the twins come visit and Cooper’s back! Jolene is as hilarious as always as Nola's best friend. I can't wait for another book to continue this series and see if Nola and Beau will get together...

I really love this series and while I'm not usually a person who wants ghosts, Karen White's writing and settings of Charleston or New Orleans capture you and you can't help but love these characters too!

So highly recommend checking out this series and you have time to read The Shop on Royal Street before The House on Prytania comes out May 9th!

THE HOUSE ON PRYTANIA is the second book in the Royal Street series. We follow Nola as she helps to uncover what happened to Beau's sister, Sunny, when she was taken as a young girl and has now returned home to New Orleans. I loved this book just as much as the first one in the series. Karen White does a great job recapping the first book, so you can pick up where the first book left off. Nola will always be my favorite character, although her friend, Jolene, is a real hoot. If you like paranormal thrillers, you are sure to love THE HOUSE ON PYRTANIA. I can't wait for next book in the series.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This review will be shared to my Instagram (@coffee.break.book.reviews) in the near future.

Love this series! Book 2 finds Nola continuing renovations on her house while mending a broken heart and trying to keep Beau from making powerful enemies (as least until they have proof). And, or yes, trying to get those troublesome ghosts to leave her house!

Nora Trenholm is still trying to rehab her historical New Orleans home, battling dark spirits as well as juggling her personal life, when her family comes to visit bringing an old boyfriend from her high school days.

Second in the series best read in order.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing an early review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A woman is haunted—both literally and figuratively—by ghosts of the past in this second novel of the Royal Street series by New York Times bestselling author Karen White.

Nola Trenholm may not be psychic herself, but she’s spent enough time around people who are to know when ghosts are present, and there are definitely a few lingering spirits in her recently purchased Creole cottage in New Orleans. Something, or someone, is keeping them tethered to this world. And not all of them are benign.
This was a fun continuation to the series! The book is well set up for the third installment. I'm glad the kidnapping is solved and we can move on to another ghost story. I'm thrilled we get to continue along on Nola's journey.
4 stars.

This is a fun continuation of the series. I enjoy the mystery element combined with fun characters including ghosts. The only downside was the ending that hints at a third book in the series and knowing we have to wait awhile before getting to read it.

Still going strong with my NY resolution to post my review as soon as I finish a book!
When I selected The House on Prytania, I wasn’t aware it was the continuation of a series I’ve been reading for quite some time. I was delighted to rediscover my old friends. The author does an excellent job of reminding the reader who the players are, what is their significance to each other and what part they play in the story. This series continue to offer an excellent insider’s view of New Orleans. I especially liked the tours of New Orleans Nola provides for her sister, the ins and outs of restoring old homes with a lot of “character” and, of course, the ghoulies and ghosties and things that go bump in the might. With the hints at the end of the book, my “seeing eye” predicts another book in the series, I can’t wait!

I have to be honest, this is one of my favorite authors. I have read the full Tradd Street series and loved it.
If you are a fan you will enjoy this book. It is much of the same, just different names.
The story gets convoluted which got annoying at times as I read it over the course of a couple weeks and kept forgetting who was who.
I also wasn’t a fan of the romantic aspects of the book. It was lacking and meh. I think that was one of the things I loved about the earlier series. Thayer was always a zing between the characters that kept things interesting.
If you are new to this author at least read the first book in this series. Otherwise you will miss too much of the back story to enjoy this book.
There is still much to recommend this book. I love the ghosts, the restoration, the characters. It is a fun read.
Enjoy

mystery, thriller, fiction, paranormal, romantic, urban-fantasy, contemporary, ghosts, restoration, relationships, relationship-issues, investigations, NOLA*****

The main character is Nola and the story is set in NOLA. How cute is that?
And how can there be a work set in NOLA without the paranormal taking over? The whole imagery is as clear as being there riding along the streets, doing the renovations in such great old homes, and even the awareness of the haints. But the interactions and relationships of the characters simply wasn't my thing (but I know EXACTLY who will Love it!) so that's how the rating is achieved.
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley. Thank you!

Do you ever just read a book and know that it isn’t for you but you can see why people will love it? Well, that was the case for me with this one. I wanted to enjoy the main character Nola, I mean she does her own home renovations which is amazing, but I just found her grating and annoying overall. I found the pacing a bit slow and my thoughts kept drifting – which is a sign the book isn’t holding my attention. I did enjoy the gothic style, that is always one that wins for me. I really wanted to enjoy this one, but I did ultimately end up DNFing this one at about the 50% mark.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my advanced e-arc in exchange for this honest review.

I really enjoy Karen White's Southern supernatural gothic style. It's really fresh and this book gave me chills in the best possible way. I really enjoy this new spinoff series from the author and enjoy learning more about Nola along the way. Highly recommend to for the romantic supernatural suspense!

I loved The Tradd St series. I’m having some mixed feelings about the continuation with Nola in New Orleans. In this installment, Nola’s house is still haunted despite Beau’s efforts to cleanse it at the end of the first book. After having her heart broken by Michael , she’s willing to pretend interest to get more information about Beau’s sister’s kidnapping to protect Beau from possibly getting hurt. But he still is with his girlfriend Sam…Some of the relationships just don’t make much sense. Cooper has reappeared and Nola clearly also has feelings for him. Honestly I miss Melanie and Jack- who do make a cameo. I will keep reading in the hope it all comes together.

Nola continues renovations on her home while living with Jolene in their walk up. As the last book left off, Sunny Ryan, Beau’s long lost sister has appeared and interested in her real family, but not interested in pursuing the truth of her abduction. Beau’s Mimi and girlfriend are worried he is playing with fire in searching for the abduction truth. Hence conspiring with Nola to try to find out details through the lying Michael Hebert. All comes to a head during Mimi’s church fundraiser gala.

In this second book spinoff of the Tradd Street series, Nola, still working on her haunted cottage has an new entity that’s pure evil, Beau wants revenge against the people who kidnapped his sister Sunny, and their non relationship is moving along at a snails pace. Slow to start, and lagging at times, the book finally picks up with a visit from Nola’s family (it’s great White is still including Melly, Jack and the twins in this series) and the return of Nola’s first boyfriend Cooper. Sarah, like her mom, is able to see and hear ghosts as she helps Nola try to understand who did kidnap Sunny. Great characters in this series, including way over the top, Jolene.

Although the book is well set up for the third installment I’m glad the kidnapping is solved and we can move on to another ghost story. And I’m thrilled we get to continue along on Nola’s journey.

Another fantastic story from Karen White! I love how this series keeps you on the edge of your seat, while also looking over your shoulder! 😱 What was that sound, is that a shadow?! I love the cast of characters that inhabit Nola’s world and help her along on her journey. This story was paced very well and was hard to put down. I’m trying to be patient as the story between Nola and Beau unfolds. I love the mystery and suspense in this, but would love to see a tiny bit more romance for Nola. I’m sure as the series progresses so will their relationship. I will always be a huge fan of Karen White and her southern fiction!

Karen White has moved locations from Charleston to New Orleans. Characters have switched places. Nola is now the main character and Melanie and Family visit. There are still spirits and fraught relationships. Still a fun series

I loved the "Tradd Street" series and now the Royal Street spin off with Nola in NOLA has me equally enthralled!
I could not put this book down and found myself reading into the wee hours of the morning when I should have been sleeping.
Thank you to Net Galley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book! It was so good and even though I'm happy to have been able to read it early, it also means I have to wait longer for the next one....or maybe I'll just re-read this one....or the whole series!

I used to love Karen White, but I think this my last book. While the settings for her New Orleans books are still outstanding, her female characters have been reduced to simpering fools who do ridiculous things and then get in trouble with the men in their lives. Ick
