My thoughts: COUNTDOWN is the latest suspense by Lynette Eason. I love her books and was anxious to get my hands on this one. Raine is a loveable character with a lot of painful history. She tends to hold people at arms length and keep her pas hidden and it takes a special man to break down her defenses. The romance is subtle, the faith message is nonintrusive and somewhat weak, but the suspense is really good. If you like romantic suspense you'll want to read COUNTDOWN. Preorder your copy now. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

I have devoured this series like it’s my favorite cake. And then I sat on my hands impatiently while I waited to read Raina’s story.

Boy, was it was worth the wait!

Countdown is action-packed, as Lynette’s stories usually are. I was hooked from the beginning. But I have to mention the hunky US marshal. I love a good, protective man who is also good at communicating. Raina is a root-worthy character too. I love her drive and her resolve to face her past in order to protect innocent lives.

This novel had plenty of twists and turns that kept me hooked. And Eason delivers on a great conclusion not only to the story but to the series as a whole.

Overall, Countdown is a thrilling story with a beautiful romance that romantic suspense fans don’t want to miss.

This is an inspirational mystery story. Raina has been living in hiding for the past 14 years. Vince is her friend and a US Marshal. When Raina’s past comes back to haunt her, Vince becomes her hero. It is an action filled story with wonderful characters. All the while the two fall closer in love as they spend time together searching for a killer. The author has sprinkled the story with inspirational wisdom all leading to a happily ever after.

I have really enjoyed this series and this finale gives it the conclusion it deserves. The mysteries surrounding Raina’s past were intriguing and kept me guessing along with Vince. He was a great for Raina and it was fun watching their relationship develop. This is a quick and easy story that I devoured on a Friday night and I enjoyed every minute of it. Great read.

Countdown
Lynette Easton
August 1, 2023

Raina Price, Flight paramedic, has been working in several places the last several years. After completing training she stayed wherever she felt safe and secure. When she would receive a threat in the form of a call or text it was time to end her stay and quit her present job. It was hard to leave friends and a steady employment but it would be frightening to have to stay and be chased by the serial killer who took her captive when she was a teen.
When Easton’s latest novel Countdown begins we find Raina Price working in Asheville, North Carolina. Once again she is working as a flight and ER Para. She flew under Penny Satterfield who could take the medical experts anywhere in the field to rescue lost or injured hikers as well as people off course on the water. After a difficult save, the trio of flight personnel had changed and were watching TV.
A newsman was announcing selections for the winter olympics snowboarding team. Raina was shocked when she recognized one of the competitors. She knew she needed help to get protection for herself once again.
Countdown will be published by Revell Books on August 1, 2023. I was able to read and review Easton’s latest in her Extreme Measures series via NetGalley. As a fan of her work I had read the other three in the series and was thrilled to view the ARC of Countdown #4 in the series. Once again Lynette Easton captures extreme suspense giving us the question of who is behind these serial killings and why were they trying to quiet Raina Price once again. Countdown is a real page-turner, select this one and do enjoy.

The fourth book and conclusion to the Extreme Measures is a signature Lynette Eason action-packed, intensely suspenseful story. This is another hard to put down book about friends Raina Price, Advanced EMT for a medical flight team and US Marshal Vince Covelli. A chance view of ani interview of an Olympic hopeful snowboarder during a football game throws Raina into a tailspin. She knows the young boy is in danger of a killer, an ex-boyfriend who almost killed her years ago. Vince pushes Raina, a very private person, to let him help her. Thus starts a twisty and wild time of danger, attacks, suspense, and surprises that begins in Asheville, North Carolina and leads to Copper Mountain, Colorado. This is also a story of love, faith, and a great ending.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.

Another edge-of-your-seat romantic thriller. I never fail to be entertained by her books. Highly recommended.

Raina's worst nightmare returns as she braces for a new assault. This time, U.S. Marshall, Vince Covelli is determined to protect her.

As I read the pages, the explosive action kept me wondering how it all would end. It had me surprised more than once and the ending was a total surprise I didn't see coming. Great storyline, awesome characters, and a page-turner of a story kept me wanting more.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and voluntarily choose to review it.

Perfect conclusion to the Extreme Measures series! Loved that all the characters from the previous three books were brought back for Raina's story. Complex story with a surprising twist that may surprise readers. Highly recommended!

Lynette Eason is a master of suspense novels and Countdown is no exception. This fast paced story keeps the reader turning pages and the many twists to the plot will keep the reader guessing. The friendship between Raina and Vincent is tender and sweet. Readers that like a sweet romance on the side will find this an enjoyable romantic suspense. Countdown is part of the Extreme Measures series and while reading the other titles will help the reader have a better sense of the dynamics between the friend group, this title can certainly be read as a standalone.

I received an ARC ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, Revell in exchange for an honest review.

What a great suspense story. This book held my attention and my thoughts from beginning to end. I had some ideas about how I thought the story would go, and almost every one of them was proven wrong. The reader will love Raina and will cheer for Vince in his efforts to get close to her. I enjoyed the close friendships that both Raina and
Vince have throughout the story. I also enjoyed that this story has so many facets. It is not just a suspense story, rather it is filled with deep moments, life lessons, and strong characters alongside the excellent suspense plot. I highly recommend this book.

I requested and received a copy of this book for review. The thoughts and words expressed here are wholly my own.

Another solid offering from Lynette Eason. I loved getting to know Raina and Vincent better and it was a lot of fun catching up with the other main characters from this series. As always, there was plenty of nail-biting suspense and action with surprising plot twists, as well as strong faith threads. The sweet tender romance between Raina and Vince was a friends-to-more trope and even though Raina has a lot of baggage, Vince patiently pursued her. Faith lessons of trusting God to be in control were relatable and relevant.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will definitely enjoy this book and series. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Wonderful fast paced suspense romance story that kept me guessing until the end. Raina and Vince are strong characters. They both have backgrounds that help them develop their relationship. Vince’s Christian faith helps with Raina’s trust issues. I was so looking forward to book #4 of the Extreme Measures series & Lynette Eason didn’t disappoint.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ out of 5 stars.

Received for review: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley.

Why did I decide to turn the pages? I have loved many books by this author, and this synopsis sounds really good.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love this genre, but it's been a long time since I've read one that I liked this much. Lynette has written some of my favorites in the genre with her Deadly Reunions series, so I was excited going into this one.

This book reminded me why I love this genre. It was so good. I figured out parts of the plot quickly, but other parts I didn't until much closer to the end. The characters were intriguing, the suspense was well crafted, and the writing was solid. This is a wonderfully executed story. If you like romantic suspense, then this is a good one.

So why 4 stars? It stood out from others in the genre. Would have liked a bit more in the ending, but pretty solid.

Love,

Danica Page

Countdown is quite the romantic suspense novel. The author builds the tension from the first page.
I like Raina and Vincent. I love how patient and constant Vincent is in his regard and care for Raina. Raina’s reluctance to trust is understandable.
There is so much danger throughout the story. As many times as they are shot at, it is surprising that they were not more injured.
There was really only one surprise that I didn’t suspect and it was a good one.
I love the ending that reunites all the people Raina and Vincent care about.
I haven’t read the other books in the Extreme Measures series. I felt like the story stood alone pretty well. I highly recommend checking out Countdown.
Thanks to Netgalley and Revell for the opportunity to review the book.

This is a heart-pounding romantic suspense with lovable characters who jumped off the page and into my imagination. Raina has been on the run for most of her life but decides to take a stand against her aggressor when he threatens those near and dear to her. The new man in her life, Vince, is suffering from some past trauma himself but he is determined to keep Raina safe. The adventures of these two are harrowing and cleverly written, with some deliberate misdirection that kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the intrigue, the multiple layers and how tightly the plot was written. With lots of action and plenty of characters, this intense and complex book had me captivated to the very satisfying conclusion. This is the perfect book to end this outstanding series! The characters from the previous books have cameo appearances while Raina is featured in this one. All books can be read as a standalone, but I am thrilled to have read and enjoyed each of them. The author explores with heart the effect of trauma on a person and her treatment of the Raina’s terrifying past gives a great deal of depth and authenticity to the story. With a fast pace and continually crackling with tension, this is a must read for fans of compelling romantic suspense.

Flight paramedic Raina has been on the run for 14 years after a vicious, abusive ex threatened her family and friends. she’s been successfully hidden until one phone call, made to protect a child, puts her back in the cross-hairs of a killer. U.S. Marshall Vince cares about Raina and is determined to help her - whether or not she wants his help.

This action-packed quick read stands alone, but is also a good conclusion to the series. The initial relationship between Raina and Vince felt rushed, probably because it started in the other books, but the story quickly absorbed me. I enjoyed the friendships, the plot twists and the faith elements. Raina, as most of us do, struggled with heart vs head in trusting God. Another satisfying romantic suspense from Eason. Recommended.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Flight paramedic Raina has a very private life with a few friends. She also has a dangerous secret. US Marshall Vince strives to protect his charges and uphold the law.

In this fast-paced romantic suspense story, Raina and Vincent combine forces when Raina’s past threatens to catch up with her in the most deadly way.

Countdown by Lynette Eason has great dialogue, exciting action, and a strong sense of menace which drive this story to its surprising and satisfying conclusion. Fans of Terri Blackstock, Dani Pettrey, and Colleen Coble will enjoy this book.

** “I think that’s where faith comes in. We just have to trust that God is still in control even when it looks like he isn’t and we don’t understand why he does or doesn’t do something.” **

Lynette Eason once again delivers another incredible suspense thriller with “Countdown.”

When Flight Paramedic Raina Price sees a connection to her dark past on a TV interview — a person who could be in extreme danger — she rushes to set in motion an attempt to protect him. She slowly brings in new friend U.S. Marshal Vince Covelli to help her protect the young man, as well as to bring an end to the horror she endured 14 years ago.

As they work together, feelings for each other also begin to grow. Can they each overcome their own past traumas to solve this case, and maybe develop a relationship?

Eason as always creates a heart-thumping romantic thriller that will leave the reader guessing until the very end. She develops very flawed characters that are relatable and likeable, as well as truly loathsome ones. She also fills “Countdown” with some great themes, like put your trust in God; nothing happens without God’s permission; making sacrifices to keep others safe; and the importance of faith (“What good is faith if you have no opportunity to exercise it?”).

Fans of authors like Irene Hannon, Terri Blackstock and Janice Cantore will enjoy “Countdown,” which is due out Aug. 1.

Five stars out of five.

Countdown is Extreme Measures book number four, but they can be read as stand alone books.

Flight paramedic Raina and US Marshal Vincent meet through common friends and are thrown together in a whirlwind of events during this whole book. Lots of twists and turns, suspense and drama. Raina is forced to tell about her traumatic past involving her near death experience with a serial killer as the people she knows and loves start being targeted.

This clean, fiction suspense book kept me on the edge of my seat. Also included some light romance. I highly recommend this book and series! I enjoyed reading it from beginning to end!
