Raina sees a picture of a teen boy on television that starts the ball rolling for the fight of her life. She's on the run from a stalker. But she can't let that stop her from protecting the boy. Vince is a US Marshall, who is also a friend. He knows something isn't right and offers to help. The problem Raina has, is that everybody who has tried to help her in the past has ended up dead. As the story unravels, Raina has to determine who she is going to trust with her story or keep running. The stalker always seems to be one step ahead of her. He's determined to catch her. She's the run that got away.

I highly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down.

I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Extreme Measure, #4

In a few words:

Raina Price needed to escape a dangerous stalker, she change her name and disappeared. But eventually the past finally caught up with her. US marshal Vincent Corelli’s job is hunt down fugitives and protect those who are assigned to him. He vows to protect Raina at all cost and working together to solve the mystery of her past but will Raina live long enough .....

My thoughts:

Although part of a series this novel stands well on its own.

The plot is engaging enough but not as suspenseful as in the previous novels penned by Miss Eason. Nevertheless as the story unfolds we have nail-biting scenes to capture our interest and hold us captive till the conclusion. I knew Raina from the previous stories so it was not a surprise she wanted to stay low key. But when a young teenager was interviewed on TV it started a chain of dangerous and deadly events that propelled the story forward. The pacing stayed smooth sailing from then on. The story is also richly layered with just the right amount of romance: Raina and Vincent have great chemistry. It is fun to follow how they interact with each other. Although not overly done, faith in God is the catalyst that gave Raina and Vincent the opportunity to get closer to each other.

“Countdown” gives us a bit of everything: drama, excitement, romance and some suspense along with a god cast of characters. Well-done and well-said.

Raina's past has caught up to her, and Vince is determined to help her. With a lot of regrets and danger to people she loves, she's hesitant to let anyone help, or get close to her, aside from her best friends, and even they don't know about this part of her life. This story starts up fast and doesn't let up. Vince and Raina face challenge after challenge as they try to figure out who exactly is after her, while trying to stay alive and keep others safe.. We also, see a little bit of Penny, Clay, Holt, Holley and Grace.

Flight paramedic Raina Price has been a bit of a mystery in her tight group of friends. They don't know her deepest secrets. As much as she cares for them it is safer this way. She is terrified of letting anyone get too close. She has been building herself up, working out, preparing for a day that she knows is coming. She doesn't know when, but she feels the countdown is on.
US Marshal, Vince Covelli has been interested in Raina for months. He can tell something is bothering her and wishes she would just trust him. He may regret that wish.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy of the book. This is my own unsolicited opinion about it. It is the final book in an action-packed series. It works as a stand-alone, but I think you will want to read each book.
It's easy to care about Raina and Vince. They both have deep pain and regret about their pasts. They share faith in God and that is an opportunity to bond. Someone is out to get Raina and there are multiple threats to her life. This is an intense, fast-paced and suspenseful read. It's a book I couldn't put down.

Lynette Eason is one of my favorite Christian suspense authors and she doesn't disappoint in her newest novel, Countdown! This is book 4 in the Extreme Measures series. Reading the previous novels is not required; just know that the other couples have their own story.

Over the years, Raina Price has become a pro at keeping secrets. She has built a new life, adopted a new name, and keeps her head down. After seeing a chance interview on TV with a young athlete, Raina knows her past will not stay hidden. But how can one woman protect those she loves? Enter US Marshall Vincent Corelli. As Vincent unwraps the many layers of the woman he admires, his only goal is to help her and protect the innocent lives affected by evil.

I don't want to give away the plot because this is a great read and I won't spoil it. But the author has written a story filled with danger, hope, redemption and light romance. You will definitely want to read Countdown!

An enjoyable race of a read as Raina Price tries to survive a stalker who has resurfaced in her life. Or has he? This book is an intense romantic suspense that has the reader crossing the country along with the hero and heroine in a race to get the bad guy/s before they can harm a 13-year-old star athlete. Richly layered and engaging with just the right amount of romance and characters from earlier books in the series.

Christian Fiction at its best!
This is a richly layered and well written novel. Intense - romantic suspense that makes you keep turning the pages. This is the fourth in the series and is highly engaging. I highly recommend this book and author if you like clean, satisfying fiction.

This is the fourth book in this series, each as good as the last, and this one did not disappoint!

The author pulled me in and didn't let go! This is Raina's story, and we learn her dark secrets, and her fears real quick! If your familiar with this series you know U.S. Marshall Vincent Corelli, and some of the things that have happened to him, but now he is here for Raina, and she sure is going to need him!

Surprises start to unfold when a news cast features a young teen who is a gifted athlete, and Raina contacts someone from her past! The catalyst to danger and long held secrets begin to unfold, and thus a page turner. The answers you are seeking come fast and furious, and you wonder whom will survive! Wow!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revel, and was not required to give a positive review.

I love everything about Countdown. It has the perfect blend of suspense, action, and romance.
I finally got to know Raina and what a joy to see her find the freedom to face her fears, let them go, and move forward. Not only was she able to overcome mentally, but her faith grew as she saw Vince lean on God through difficult circumstances.
Vince was a rock for Raina, doggedly sticking by her side no matter how much she rejected his presence. He was patient but had the ability to know when she needed a bit of a push. His reliance on God helped him understand her in a deeper way. And his attraction for her helped that along.
In the midst of bad weather, flying bullets, poison, kidnapping, and a possible serial killer somehow they managed to survive. I was stumped as to who and/or how many culprits there actually were. There were great plot twists I never saw coming — this is Lynette’s super power — to keep me guessing.
I recommend this book. I received a copy through NetGalley courtesy of Revell. This is my honest opinion of the book.

This author is always hit or miss for me and unfortunately this one missed the mark. The plot was engaging enough and it was a quick read but I just couldn’t get invested in the characters and Raina especially was hard for me to like.
The romance felt a little forced but I did like them together and was happy that they got together.
I also didn’t understand why this book was given the title of Countdown when it had nothing at all to do with a countdown but maybe I just missed something.
Overall not my favorite Eason novel but it was a fast read and it was good to catch up with some other characters.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This was another great book in this series. Filled with intense suspense, action and a budding romance along the way. I enjoyed Raina and her resilience and protection over those she loved.

Vince was the perfect fit for Raina and who doesn’t love the overly protective love interest for her?

Great read and one I would recommend.

Sometimes when you read a series the further you get into it the more mundane it becomes. This is not the case with Lynette Eason's Extreme Measures series. Book four may be my favorite yet.
Flight Medic Raina Price has been on the run from her past for a long time. Even her closest friends don't know the whole truth of the secrets she keeps expertly hidden.
Vince Corelli is a US Marshall and a pro at detecting the unspoken. He knows there's more to the beautiful Raina Price than she's revealed. He just wants her to know she can trust him with what she's said and what she hasn't.
When an attempt on Raina's life happens right in front of him, he's determined to protect her from everything he can, the known and the unknowns.
Eason is an amazing story creator. She does a great job of bringing the pages to life. I love the pair up of Raina and Vince. I enjoyed getting to know these two characters and find out more of their stories. There was so much happening, yet I didn't struggle to keep up or following everything. I'm looking forward to whatever will come next.
Thank you Revell and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this release. All opinions are my own.

Countdown is the fourth and final novel in the Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason. It was great to see characters from previous novels in the series but it could be read as a standalone.
I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favorite from the series. I felt like the suspense element could have been stronger and it basically gave away whodunit from the beginning of the book. The relationship between Vince and Raina felt a bit odd and like we as the reader had missed something. Overall this is still worth reading due to Lynette Eason's strong skills as an author it just wouldn't be the first book of hers that I'd recommend.
