I very much enjoyed this story following two misfit women, both of whom have secrets. I liked the way that the reader was left wondering which characters could be trusted and which couldn't, as perceptions subtly adjusted throughout the story.

This was requested when I first found out about NetGalley and I had requested so many ARCs that I could not get to all of them before they were archived. I really wanted to get to this one, as it seemed interesting. If I can find this somewhere for a reasonable price, I will try to get it! I am giving this book three stars, as I don't want to give it a good or bad rating, since I did not get to it.

What a gripping read. Charlotte Duckworth has done it again, and in spectacular fashion! The twists and turns in this are incredibly entertaining. I couldn't help but devour each chapter, desperate to discover what would happen next. It gave me absolute chills. What a book!

This story could be a bit confusing at times.
I wasn’t real thrilled with how weak the main character was. It felt like she couldn’t do much for herself.

Other than that the story moved along at a good pace. It’s not one I didn’t want to put down but at the same time kept my interest.

I will definitely read more by this author.

I loved this novel. It’s pacey, intriguing and manages to misdirect the reader a couple of times without seeming contrived.

I really enjoyed reading it.

This is a perfect mess with your mind book. However, I struggled with the ending making sense. Overall, it was a creepy, twisted read. I received a free copy for an honest review.

I was definately suprised with this one. Charlotte knows how to keep me on my toes. This book has a dual timeline past and present. This book will have you guessing and its up to you to figure it out.

This book is certainly a rollercoaster ride. I have devoured this book in just one sitting. I have been completely unwilling and unable to put this down.

This is perfectly paced and keeps you guessing throughout. The dual then/ now timeline allows us to understand the experiences and events which have occurred.

The characters in this, each have their own story. They are flawed and all seek approval from elsewhere.

This is unique and gripping. My jaw has dropped a few times. This is a brilliant read from beginning to end.

Duckworth has transported me to the pages. I have felt as though I know the characters and have been watching this play out in front of me.

I have loved this book and this is a must from the beginning. I absolutely recommend this book.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this title. My review is given freely.
This story centers on two flawed women who end up sharing a cottage. One is the owner and the other is a woman on the run with a newborn child. Each woman has secrets that are slowly revealed as the story evolves. The characters are well developed and as a reader, I felt so much empathy for them. I won’t reveal spoilers, but this is a title well worth reading.

The Wrong Mother is about mum Faye, who runs away from her husband Louis (a wealthy business man) and takes her baby Jake with her. Whilst hiding out in a village, Faye rents a room from Rachel, a woman with secrets of her own.

I thought I figured out the twist but it ended differently which was unexpected but great. I found Faye a bit irritating as she seemed so misbehaved and young for a woman of 40. Overall, a good read with some interesting twists.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of The Wrong Mother by Charlotte Duckworth.

Faye and her son Jake are on the run from Jake's father Louis, who has been nothing but a nightmare from the very beginning. At a total loss as to where to go, Faye is relieved to find an ad for a roommate, and meets stoic and proper Rachel, an older woman with a lot of rules. But Rachel clearly has secrets of her own, and it will only be a matter of time before the weight of either woman's secret becomes too much to bear.

This had a particularly creepy tone to it, which I really enjoyed. At first I was worried that I'd already read a too similar version of this, but whether or not that's true, this still held me the entire way. None of it, of course, was the least bit believable, but it was still a dark and stormy fun ride.

Faye, a single 39 year old, is slowly losing her ability to have the one thing that she wants, a child. However, as luck would have it, she discovers a remedy. There is an online community, Acorn that matches people together that want a child, but not a relationship. She is matched with Louis, a successful, wealthy man, who is interested in a child as well. Faye has an idyllic view of her relationship with Louis, and this does not go as planned as Louis is demanding and bullying. We meet Faye as she is fleeing Louis with their child, Jake. She ends up renting a room from Rachel, a woman in her 60’s, who also has secrets. This novel exhibits many of the characteristic features of a good thriller: twists, surprises, detailed imagery, and mistrust of the characters. The characters were well developed and at times, I liked them, and at other times, I hated them and mistrusted their actions and thoughts. I found myself constantly questions, which of the main characters was the villain and which was the hero. I highly recommend this author and will look for more books by her. Thank you the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I thought I figured out the story but it ended differently which I loved. Sometimes I couldn't get over the fact that Faye was still so naive at forty, she definitely read much younger. All in all, it was a four star read and I will check out Charlotte Duckworth's other books.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Quercus!

Thank you to the publishers for sending me a copy of this book
What an absolute delight to read if that is the right turn of phrase.
From the first chapter, I was pulled into this book, not really having a clue what was going on. But loving it at the same time.
If you love a book with a moral dilemma you will absolutely love this like I did.
I had so many theories with this book but none prepared me for the twist.
I really did race through this and have recommended to many of my fellow bookworms
I had so many reservations about Rachel! Poor poor Rachel!!
I really loved this book and keen to read more by this author!

Charlotte’s books will keep you guessing. This book is told in multiple POV and dual timeline. I absolutely loved it because I got involved with the two main characters. As a mother I felt for both characters. The book tackles some triggers such as the baby blues and more. My favorite character was Rachel because I wanted her to be happy. This book is a great read!
