I unfortunately did not resonate with this book of poetry as I did not understand most of the content.

Poetry has the capability to inhabit a variety of media simultaneously. As one reads the words on the page, the reader can find themselves transported to the poem's locales, senses ignited by the transcendence of language.

My favorite recent find from one of the most poignant voices in poetry today. Colin Channer masterfully weaves tapestries of words into beautiful and soulful stories. Expressing a deep understanding of human nature, Channer brings a sincere interpretation of history to the page. Through reading Channer's commanding use of language from different lands, the reader can walk through a vividly colorful garden written down straight from the heart of a passionate writer.

While Colin Channer has a voice and a style, I'm sorry to say that this collection wasn't the one for me. I just couldn't get into the collection.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I must admit, much of this poetry anthology went over my head. I think part of it may be due to the author’s Jamaican roots and my own ignorance to the meaning of certain words or phrases that come from his culture. Unfortunately that lead to a lack of connection with these poems for me. I enjoyed the playful feeling of some of the poems, but wished I could better understand the meaning. Of course, none of this is to blame on the author and I take full responsibility for my own disconnect. I googled certain phrases to try and better understand, but for me, this took my heart and head out of the poem and into a more analytical space- when I prefer to “feel” poetry and be moved by it. I have no doubt this anthology may resonate more with someone more familiar with the references that I didn’t get.

Good poetry. There were a few I didn’t really like but for the most part, this was very well written!

An interesting story full of twists, turns, fun characters and overall a book I would consider reading time and time again.

this is the first collection that i have read by colin channer and i have to say that their voice shines through their collection of poems. my favourite was ‘aftermath’ but there are a great number of brilliant poems hidden in this book.

i would love to know where they get their inspiration from as i study poetry at university and i am getting a sense of recognition tugging at my brain over another poet but i can’t figure out who it is.

channer writes incredible poetry and it was so nice to read work by lesser known (in my mind) poets. it’s like a breath of fresh air. thank you so much netgalley, colin channer and their publisher for allowing me to read this book prior to publication. if you’re a fan of poetry, then i recommend this book to you,
