This was the first series that I have read and this could be listened to as a stand-alone.
Cory and his pooch Simon are members of the K Team and are hired as consultants by the Police to solve a cold case. While this case seems cold without any hope, this case turns out to be anything but simple. There are loads of executions that are questionable, lots of bad guys, and several fake identities. This book definitely had me on the edge of my seat and it has that quirky dad jokes style of humor in the book. I'm looking into the books prior to this one in the series. I enjoyed it!
Thank you Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the extraordinary opportunity to listen and review this one!

New too me author. I enjoyed listening to his book and will be checking out more. It reminds me of a movie {can't figure out the name} where there was a cop and he had a dog that helps him with his investigations.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

While I love every book that David Rosenfelt writes this spin off series has become my favourite. Corey Douglas, his great dog Simon, and the partners on the K Team work as consultants by the Patterson NJ Police mostly to work on cold cases. . That gives the stories many directions they can go in and this is one of the best so far. Do yourself a favour and read them all, in order and get ready for some fun.

I am so sorry but I think I've come to the conclusion that Mr. Rosenfelt is a little too much chat and too little "sink your teeth in" mystery. I read some of his books from the previous series but they didn't grab hold. I am persistent, if nothing else. I started this and it wasn't working for me so I went back and read the first one to see if that would assist with my enjoying this one. It didn't. So, for now, I am admitting defeat and probably not going read another one in this series.

I absolutely loved this audiobook. It's my first k team book and it's just as good as any of the other books I have read or listened to by David Rosenfelt.

The K team is investigating a cold case and one that is of particular interest to Corey. Corey is determined to figure out the truth.

All the characters are so relatable and likeable. The story is fast paced and you just want more of it.

Fred Berman is the narrator and I really enjoyed his reading of it. He brought the character and story to life. He does the voice changes between genders and characters so seamlessly that you would almost believe there were multiple people telling the story.

This is a must read or listen to.

I thought I would enjoy seeing the other side of the story play out, and I do, but I think I just like Andy more than the rest. I also enjoy the narrator for the Andy Carpenter series more.

I like all of Rosenfelt’s books a lot and this was as entertaining as most. Compelling mystery and humor.

I have enjoyed the few books I have read in the K Team series. The characters are well developed. Lots of action and intrigue so that you are flipping through the pages quickly. You are hooked from the first page and are in for a thrilling ride until the final satisfying conclusion. The narrator, Fred Berman, does a great job of changing his voice for the various characters. I look forward to more adventures with retired officer, Corey Douglas, and his former K-9 police dog, Simon Garfunkel.

I'm a huge fan of David Rosenfelt's books - I've lost track of how many times I've recommended his Andy Carpenter series to people looking for a mystery series that's fun to read without being too "cozy". This series was spun off from the Andy Carpenter books, and it's almost as enjoyable, an I say "almost" simply because the main characters aren't quite as engrained (yet) in my head as Andy and his primary team. But the humor and the interesting mysteries are still here. I'm enjoying getting to know Corey Douglas, his K-9 partner Simon Garfunkel - and revisiting his partners on the K Team, all of whom also play a big part in Andy's series. It's interesting to watch them try to solve the cold cases that come their way from the Paterson NJ police - this particular one involves the unsolved death of Corey's mentor.
This K Team series is nicely narrated by Fred Berman and I can absolutely recommend this on audio.

I enjoyed this entry in the K Team series. My rating 4.25.

The K Team has been hired by the Paterson, New Jersey, police department to work on cold cases. The team consists of former police detective Corey, his K-9 partner Simon, former officer Laurie, and the ‘hulk’ bodyguard, Marcus. They get to call in the help of computer hack wizard, Sam, and of course they get a little legal input and financial support from Laurie’s husband, Andy Carpenter.

The team has picked up a suspected murder-suicide case where the victims were found dead and adrift from a boat outing. The case involved Corey’s police mentor and a local woman who was the wife of another police officer murdered earlier than this pair. Because the cases may be tied together, the team will look at all three.

Very quickly the team is able to pull records from a local restaurant that begins to give leads the detectives never followed. One lead moves to another and it isn’t long before Corey finds himself being attacked. Fortunately, he has Simon, and Marcus, as backup. Clearly the team is rocking the boat, and someone wants to stop them from digging deeper. This just gives them more incentive to push along the investigation even as it takes them to other states.

The story is told from the view and voice of Corey so it has the police/investigator perspective. I always enjoy these characters with their humorous banter and interaction. Then there are the plots that start locally but soon spread out to more nefarious conspiracies. This one twists and turns to a terrorist threat that drags in Homeland Security. I will continue to read, and enjoy, the novels by David Rosenfelt. I recommend this book and the series to fans of K-9 characters and private investigator mysteries.

Audio Notes: Fred Berman does a good job with the narration. The character voices are clear and distinct. Berman also is able to deliver the narration with the underlying dry wit of the author’s work. The enjoyed the audio version and appreciate the opportunity to listen to this story.

This is part of the K team series, private investigators who work cold cases for the Paterson Police department. They are a colorful and resourceful bunch - Laurie, Andy's wife, Corey a former police officer, Sam the computer wiz and Marcus, strong and silent muscle. They are assisted by Simon Garfunkel a well-trained former police dog. The choose to look into a murder suicide involving Corey's mentor - and they connect the dots in ways that the police were never able to and solve several other crimes, too. This is a fun ride with some twists and turns along the way and lots of theory and speculation as the investigation deepens.

3.75 Stars 🌟

This was a first time author for me and I was looking forward to reading (well, actually listening to) a book that featured a canine (K9) officer. Unfortunately, this really wasn't that. It was more of a police/murder mystery that had a couple of mentions of a dog.

The male MC - Corey Douglas) is a former police officer whose partner when he was on the force was a German Sheppard named Simon. Corey has left the department and is now a private detective and his firm is now working with the police on a contract basis to try to solve some open cold cases.

As far as the case goes, there were actually a couple of cases that they started working that ended up being tied together. Without going into spoilers, I did find the actual cases themselves interesting. There were several twists and turns and the ending of the book had a kind of "gotcha" moment for the reader. Kind of. Unfortunately, Simon was only on page a couple of times - though he did get the opportunity to go after a couple of bad guys.

I did enjoy the narrator- red Berman - and he was also a first time narrator for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this ARC. The opinions above are mine and mine alone.

I listened to the ‘Good Dog, Bad Cop’ audiobook and enjoyed it. It’s a classic throwback to the gumshoe detective and his gal pal solving crimes, and facing danger, with a cold case twist and a retired police dog.

Retired detectives Corey Douglas, Laurie Collis, K-9 Simon Garfunkle, and Marcus Clark are the perfect mix of brain, brawn, and sharp teeth as Capt. Pete Stanton hires them to work cold cases. Corey wants to look into the death of his friend/mentor PPD Det. Jimmy Dietrich and Susan Avery that was ruled a murder-suicide which doesn’t sit right with him. Good Dog, Bad Cop takes the listener/reader on a wild car chase with dead ends as a local murder expands to espionage and the Feds get involved.

I found the premise intriguing and a great listen as I tried to figure out why the bodies were dropping and how they tied into the cold case. It’s hard to make a case when witnesses disappear and end up dead. But the humans and Simon keep sniffing out clues till they end up at the wrong end of a gun.

I won’t give away the surprising end that kept me guessing but I found it to be an enjoyable mystery.

I could not get into this book. It was so dry and slow. I kept trying but had to DNF it. I tried several times. but it just wasn't for me.

I read and listened to Good Dog, Bad Cop because I can't read all day but I can listen to audiobooks while doing mindless chores! David Rosenfelt is an auto-buy author for me, I like Andy Carpenter and the K-Team books. The writing is concise and witty, they are enjoyable reads without too much gore. The narrator is perfect for the voice of Corey.
Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of this audiobook.

I enjoyed this mystery story with all of the characters. The main character was Corey Douglas.

Corey Douglas is an investigator for the K team. Their team looks into cold cases for the Paterson Police Department.  There is a case that he want to invest time into. There was a cop that was murdered and he wants to know what happened. The guy was a friend of his.

This was a interesting story to read. It had action, adventure and suspense throughout. It had a few giggles within. It was fun trying to solve the mystery within.

I received a complimentary of an audio copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions. The audio narrative also did a good job to.

Wow!! I wasn't a huge fan of this spin-off but I think this case was my favorite Rosenfelt story so far?! There was A LOT going on, but I think that's what I liked about it. I think Corey is also growing on me and I loved that we got a few more words from Marcus!

I love David Rosenfelt‘s K Team series - a spin off of the Andy Carpenter series, the books are highly entertaining, well plotted and well written police procedurals centering on retired detectives that get hired as consultants to solve cold cases !
In this book the cold case is the unsolved death (whether it is a homicide was unclear at the beginning) of Corey‘s former mentor - there is tension and there is comic relief, there is Simon a fantastic police dog and there are the humans and their sarcastic asides …
I listened to this book while out running with my dog and loved the audiobook narrated by Frank Berman - it felt like listening to Corey narrate the events over a drink, it was fantastic !

I love these books. They are no literary feat but they are just enjoyable. They are predictable and comfortable and I always feel good afterward.
