It was a beautifully sweet love story. I was so happy to see these characters get their happily ever after. I loved the first book in this series and this second story was just as good. I look forward to more from this lovely world the author created.

I'm such a sucker for small town second chance romances. Sinclair and Garrett's paths cross again when their best friends are getting married. Tasked with pulling off a short notice wedding, Sin and Rett are forced to confront their frustrations but also lingering attraction towards each other, especially finally talking about that one night together years ago. In their time together they finally peels back their layers and realize that there is so much more there than they realized.

I loved everything about this story, from the whitty banter to the smoldering attraction between these two. In between are them both dealing with personal, family, and career issues. The flow of the story was great, and I had a hard time putting this one down once I got started.

This is the 2nd book in the “Holly Grove Island Series”. I’m a big fan of second chance romance. Reese Ryan did an awesome job as usual. The long-awaited wedding of best friends Dakota Jones and Dexter Roberts is fast approaching. Sinclair Buchanan is Dakota’s friend and Garrett Davenport is Dexter’s cousin. Rhett is a real estate agent and is returning back to Holly Grove for his cousin’s wedding. Sin is a real estate agent in the Holly Grove area. The two have been tasked with taking care of everything needed for the upcoming nuptials. Sin is the maid of honor and Rhett is the best man. Each of them is headstrong with Sin wanting to do all and leave Rhett out of everything. Rhett being the no you’re not kind of guy. I’m in for the long haul so let’s get things rolling, we have a wedding to plan. Sin and Rhett shared a hot sizzling one night stand that neither forgot. Rhett has family issues that he is dealing with. The love hate relationship along with the camaraderie between Rhett and Sin was combustible. These two know that they want to be together but to the long way of getting there. I surely hope that Reese comes up with more characters for this Holly Grove series it is truly swoon worthy and an awesome read with an awesome plot. We need more Holly Grove characters Reese Ryan.

Now that Reese has given her readers Sin and Rhett’s love story; we would still like a love story on Em Dexter’s sister and the nosey Angela’s books. Just a thought Reese.

4.5⭐️

There is something to be said about reading a book with characters who look, act and think like you.

I love that BIPOC authors are bringing in the representation and closing in the margin that has been left wide for so long.

I enjoyed reading this book. The plot is interesting and I liked how the author wives the past into the present without making us play the guessing game.

As with small town romance, side characters are usually hold their own and bring their A-game to the story. That been said I love Grandma Mae- a subtle matchmaker. She played her game so well that the MCs did not suspect her at all.

If you enjoy small town romance with the enemies to lovers trope, you will enjoy this.

When their friends decide to move their wedding up to seven weeks away, Sinclair and Rett, longtime enemies, must work together to make sure everything goes smoothly. Complicating things is that in addition to their animosity toward each other they did hook up several years ago and have never quite gotten over it. Throw in meddling family members and its a perfect combination for electricity.

This was a wonderful read on a quiet, sunny Sunday afternoon. I really liked both Sinclair and Rett. They both had their own prejudices about the other to get over and complicated relationships with their respective families. I liked that they were always on really even footings as it meant that I could just enjoy their tension and attraction to one another. I felt like I was reading a book about adults in an adult relationship which was a very welcome change compared to many books I’ve tried recently. I really enjoyed the side characters as they really helped round out the story and paint the scene. As a bonus the book came with a novella from Jeannie Chin which I have read previously and enjoyed.

Return to Hummingbird Way was such a good book! It's book 2 of the Holly Grove Island series but can be read as a standalone.

I just loved this sweet romance with great banter! Both MC’s have their own drama that carried over from childhood but together they overcome that and finally realize what everyone else already knew…that they are perfect for each other. The sparks between Sinclair and Rett just fly off the pages!

I do feel like Sinclair was a little too judgmental when it came to Rett (jumping to conclusions) but it is obvious that it stems from her critical mother. It was great seeing the way Rett stood up to her mom. It was annoying how Sinclair’s mom kept pushing her to get married and have kids just like her sister. I appreciated how this book showed that a HEA ending doesn’t require children.

I was not a fan of the way that the book suddenly ended (at 70%) with another author's book. It took me by surprise - I wanted more of this book!

This is the second book in this small town, black love, enemies to lovers, second chance romance. I absolutely loved the relationship and banter between Rhett and Sinclair. The chemistry was undeniable, although the both of them tried to fight it at every turn. Their growth and the way the characters were developed was done in such an amazing way. I am really enjoying this series, and I'm hoping there will be at least one more book in this series. This is the type of series that if it was turned into a tv show, I'd definitely watch, and I rarely watch tv.

Return to Hummingbird Way by Reese Ryan is the second book in the contemporary romance Holly Grove Island series. As with a lot of romance series the main characters in each of the Holly Grove Island series change with each new book so they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so.

Return to Hummingbird Way is a mix of a second chance romance and an enemies to lovers story. Sinclair Buchanan is a top selling real estate agent on Holly Grove Island and Garrett Davenport was her old high school nemesis. Sinclair and Garrett did share one passionate night together five years ago but nothing came of it.

Now Sinclair and Garrett are going to be the maid of honor and best man at their friends upcoming wedding bringing the two back together again. Not only does the wedding plans push Sinclair and Garrett together but soon they find some matchmaking happening with family but a relationship between the pair may not be able to last.

The Holly Grove Island series is one that I have followed from the beginning and was happy to return to in this second book. It was fun seeing glimpses of the previous characters in the story but certainly not necessary to have read the first book to enjoy this one. I love the character growth shown in this second edition and of course loved returning to the lovely setting of Holly Grove but the best was probably the meddling matchmaker that gave a few chuckles along the way! Will be looking forward to the next to come in the series.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

A enemy to lover story that was a cute read.
The characters interaction is a simmering attraction that neither want to admit to. They have a lot history between the two of them. Can they get past the past????
A enjoyable read.

I’m so glad we got another book in this series!! Took me a little bit to get into this story but once I did, I didn’t want to put it down! Sin is a feisty, fiery, one of a kind woman with a won’t quit mindset. Throw in her hate crush that is quick to charm his way into or out of any situation and you have me saying yes to this love story! I love that Sin and Rett get their HEA. Also love that it didn’t end on a pregnancy announcement but the epilogue is super cute!

This was a great second chance, lovers to enemies to lovers story. After spending a night together years ago, then choosing to pretend it didn't happen, Rett and Sin would rather not spend time together. However, their mutual friends are getting married and they are both a part of the festivities. With all the love in the air, will Rett and Sin take another chance with each other?

Sinclair has directed all her attention to ensure the success of her career as realtor and her personal life has been pushed to the side. The upcoming wedding of her best friend has her not only wanting to be there in any way she can but she never expected that it would cause her to reflect if there is more to the way she has been living her life when the man she always seems to be at odds with and spent one night with comes back into her life.

Garrett wants to make amends with the past so he agrees to be his cousin’s best man and show everyone that he is not the person they remember. When he finds himself working with the woman who not only infuriates him but intrigues him the sparks fly and the complications begin.

This is a heartwarming story about love, family and overcoming the past. The attraction between them was never in question but I enjoyed seeing them work through all the challenges they faced and realize that by acknowledging their feelings they could work through everything else.

Return to Hummingbird Way is the second book in the Holly Grove Island and a great follow-up to Second Chance on Cypress Lane, the first book in the series.

Sinclair "Sin" Buchanan and Garrett "Rett" Davenport are not what you would call friends, more like frenemies. They never have been, but for as long as they can remember, they have been forced to spend time together because Sin's best friend, Dakota, and Rett's cousin, Dexter, are a couple and they wanted to spend time with them, so that meant forced togetherness. There was one time they ran into one another at a work function where they ended up spending one passionate night together, but they've chosen to push that under the proverbial rug and move along as if nothing happened.

Rett is currently back home in Holly Grove Island as Dakota and Dexter have asked he and Sin to help them plan their wedding in a matter of weeks instead of months. For these two people that don't see eye to eye very often, they are forced to put their differences aside and work together to ensure their friends have the wedding they have always dreamed of. Will they be able to do it and will they possibly learn new things about one another in the process?

I really enjoyed how we got to see these characters realize that the people they thought they knew had changed quite a bit since the time they were in high school. Both Sin and Rett had been through difficult and formative events during high school and now that they are adults, things are much different and they aren't the same people they used to be. Those events changed them and shaped them and they are better people for them, as they've learned and grown from them, as hard as they may have been. I appreciated how supportive Rett was of Sin and I also liked how the issues with the families were handled. It felt very realistic to me, which I always appreciate.

I'm looking forward to the next book in this series without a doubt. I have no doubt it is going to be as good as these first two have been!

I loved this book! The second chance story presented here was heart-warming and funny. The characters were quirky and interesting. I loved Sin and kept hearing Whitley Gilbert (Different World) every time I read her part. Great set up for two stubborn people both in need of a genuine partner but with their own baggage to shed.
