Anna Helmuth is matchmaking again, this time with granddaughter Martha Sue. Martha Sue loves Yost, but Yost’s 13-year-old son is determined to get her out of his father’s life, even if it means physically hurting her. He goes too far and 85-year-old Anna suffers. Jonah may mend his ways, but he’s hard to like. I’m not familiar with any 13-year-old boys, but Jonah seems incredibly immature.
Anna’s alternate bachelor, Vernon Schmucker, is over-the-top awful, coming in and taking food without permission, thinking he’s a real catch. Comical, but I’m glad I don’t know him.
Anna offers words of wisdom, like, “To avoid pain is to avoid life, and that’s no life at all.”

The eleventh book in the Match makers of Huckleberry Hill has Anna trying to find a husband for her granddaughter, Martha Sue who has come to visit and mend her broken heart. Vernon, the neighborhood mama's boy is determined to have Martha Sue for his wife (thanks to Anna) but Martha Sue's boyfriend, Yost shows up to win her back. Jonah is not happy with his dad wanting to remarry and proves to be quite the brat. Lots of humor and good lessons in this enjoyable story. Love all the characters. Bumbling Vernon is the most clueless and exasperating character! Recommended!

irst of all i want to thank Netgalley, Jennifer Becksrand and Kensingon Books Zebra for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.
This is the 11th book in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill Series by Jennifer Beckstrand. I have not read any of the previous books in this series but they are on my to be read shelf. This one was such a good story, i fell in love with the characters from the very beggining. Martha Sue was living in Ohio but came back to Bonduel Wisconsin to help out her grandparents and she was also running away from love, but Yost Beiler didn't make that easy for her because he moved himself and his selfish, spoiled son Jonah to Wisconsin also. Jonah was acting out because of the loss of his mother and was afraid to let his father move on, thinking Martha Sue would kick him out or be an evil stepmother. But that was all in his head and so far from the truth. As the story unfolds a lot of heartfelt talks and recues brings this book to a happy ending. I loved this story and would recommend it to anyone who loves a clean Amish romance. I will be reading more of the books in this series hopefully soon, so many books and then so little time.

Author Jennifer Beckstrand’s Huckleberry Hill series has become one of my all time favorites, and Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill is a great addition. I laughed my way through it, as I did the others.

And lest you think differently, it’s also full of heartwarming moments. Have you ever seen a 13 yr old boy trying to win a woman over while pushing her away? You will in this book. You’ll want to shake Jonah, yet hug him close. What a kid!

Martha Sue is of course trying to avoid what Mammi Anna has planned for her, while Daddi Felty tries to stay out of the way. Yost is healing after a loss. All tossed together, this causes shenanigans to abound. Will there be second chances? Or are Martha Sue and Yost destined to remain apart? I highly recommend reading Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill to find out.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

I have read all the books in this series, and each time I go back its like going home! I love Annie and Felty, and the author makes the antics and happenings so enjoyable, I always want more!

This is their Granddaughter Martha Sue's story, and your in for quite a ride before this story ends! Annie is still making her mouth water treats, not, and they are blessed to have their Granddaughter staying with them.

Martha Sue is in love with Yost, his son is worried that his father will forget him if he marries her, and boy does he go out of his way to prevent such a union!

We witness the actions of this young man Jonah, and he seems to be such a brat, but you can't help but love him! You are in for such an enjoyable read, and when finished I wanted to stay, and you wonder whom is next on their radar, Bo?

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

Cute story. Love the characters and I quickly got wrapped up in the story. You’ll find yourself cheering on some characters and wanting other characters to just simply go away, lol! Always comical to see the tricky family dynamics playing out in the story. Light hearted and interesting read. Found myself cheering for the couple that truly belonged together.

First time reading a book by this author and it was good. This book is the 11th in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series. I had not read any of the previous books in the series but will eagerly go back to the begining. Anna and Felty Helmuth are the elderly matchmakers in the community. This time they weave their magic on their granddaughter Martha Sue and Yost Beiler and his son Jonah who refuses to accept Martha Sue. I really enjoyed this author and her writing style and of course Anna and Felty.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Since the first time I started reading this series, I think this is the first book I didn't absolutely adore. I liked it very much-I just didn't adore it.
It was an interesting and heart-warming story, but it dragged on a tad too much for me.

Martha Sue, and Yorst love each other. There is one significant problem, though, Yorsts son really really dislikes Martha Sue. To the point that he physically hurts her and eventually her 80-something-year-old Mammi, Anna. It got to the point that I started disliking Jonah (the son).

Now, since this is a book about matchmaking, you'd better believe that Anna and Felty are up to their old tricks, which means there is another man in the mix. And boy, did I ever dislike him!

But don't worry, this is an Amish romance, and everything will work out for the best, and we will all learn some outstanding life lessons!

This was a fast, sweet, clean read with several chuckles throughout the book.

To say that I was excited about this one is an understatement. Jennifer Beckstrand did not disappoint with her next book in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series.

Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill once again stars Anna & Felty Helmuth along with their granddaughter Martha Sue. Anna & Felty are two of my all-time favorite characters and I couldn’t put this one down as soon as I started it. It is wonderful.

This was a really heart-wrenching installment in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill. I really enjoyed the story though as I went through all the emotions with the characters involved. Mrs. Beckstrand does such a great job making each of these stories unique while giving us fans all the things we love about being with Anna and Felty. They will forever be my favorite Amish couple!!

This is a part of the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series by Jennifer Beckstrand. All of the books in this series are delightful and this one is equally delightful.

Matchmakers Anna and Felty Helmuth are at it again as their granddaughter, Martha, comes to visit them. Anna thinks it is time for Martha to get married. Martha, unbeknownst to Anna, is heartbroken over her broken relationship with widower, Yost Yoder. Jonah, son of Yost, refuses to accept Martha, as it has always been just him and his father since the death of his mother. Martha refuses to come between Yost and his son, so she breaks off the relationship. Yost is devastated and tries in so many ways to get Martha to come back to him and return his love.

This is a story of heartbreak, perseverance, love, anger, hurt, both physical and mental, and second chances. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish books and complicated romance.

I received a copy of this book from Kensington Zebra and NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

This book is part of the series Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill. You can read this book as a stand alone. I enjoyed this book very much. Martha visits with her grandparents who are hilarious. She has just gone through a bad break up with Yost. He has a thirteen year old son Jonah. Jonah succeeds in breaking them up. Yost still misses Martha, so he moves to Huckleberry Hill to win her back. This book has it all humor, romance and forgiveness. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books/Zebra for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

I recently just found The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill, and I love each one I have read. Anna is at it again with her granddaughter Marha Sue. Martha Sue loves Yost but his son Jonah has something against her so she left and came to stay with Anna and Felty. Anna has decided to find her a husband. She found a very self centered man which would never work for someone as sweet at Martha Sue. Yost come to Huckleberry to win her back. She refuses to go with him so he moves his son there and lives in Felty's barn. So many things happen so you have to get this book and read it for yourself.

I love all the Huckleberry Hill series. Once I started reading Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill, I couldn’t put the book (tablet) down. I couldn’t wait to see what plans and schemes Annie and Felty came up with to get these two together. I would recommend this book and give it a 5 star review. Jennifer has a way to make you feel you know all the characters in her books.

Another great book by Jennifer Beckstrand! She is my favorite author, and the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill is one of my favorite series.

Martha Sue comes to stay with her grandparents Anna and Felty to try to mend her broken heart. She had fallen in love with a widower whose son was doing everything in his power to get rid of her. Anna and Felty decide to step in and help with their characteristic blend of wisdom and disaster.

This story was thoroughly engaging from beginning to end. The characters are well developed and lovable. You will laugh and cry along with the main characters, and you will be appropriately appalled by the selfishness of Vernon. Every time I read a Jennifer Beckstrand book, I think there is no way she will be able to top this story, but she always does. Her imagination and humor are amazing.

I completely enjoyed this story, and I would definitely recommend the book to anyone who likes to read Amish fiction. If you haven’t read the Huckleberry Hill series, you should start at the beginning. Every book in the series is fantastic.

This book was provided to me courtesy of Kensington through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I alway enjoy reading books written by Jennifer Beckstrand because they usually are filled with humor. They all are easy reads and her stories just seem to flow off the pages and into the reader’s heart. Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill certainly didn’t disappoint this reader. Entertaining and unpredictable incidents filled each chapter and kept me turning pages. This is the first book in the Huckleberry Hill series that I have read but I was able to read it as a standalone book. I do feel that I would gain a lot of reading enjoyment if I were to start at the very beginning of this series. The characters were a delight to get to know and it didn’t take me long to grow to love them as my friends. Well maybe not Vernon Schmucker because he was a little into himself. But in a way he was kind of cute too. He definitely added to the story.

Martha Sue Helmuth and Yost Beiler are in love with each other. Only problem is that Yost’s young son Jonah doesn’t like Martha Sue. He has done everything in his power to make her life miserable. Finally Martha Sue , not wanting to come between Yost and his son Jonah, leaves Ohio and moves in with her grandparents in Bonduel Wisconsin. Martha Sue’s grandparents are Amish matchmakers and they are determined to find her a husband. Martha Sue is still in love with Yost and she just wants to be left alone. The last thing she wants is another man. This is how the story begins and that’s all I’m going to tell you. Find out what happens when you read this delightful story.

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction, Christian Fiction and fans of Jennifer Beckstrand.
This book is scheduled for release on 5/23/23.

I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions about the book that I have shared here in this review are my own.

The Huckleberry Hill series is one of my FAVORITE AMISH READS!! Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill, the latest in the series, for sure & certain, lives up to the previous
books. Jennifer Beckstrand brings the characters to life with warmth & humor. The wacky antics of grandparents, Anna & Felty, make you just shake your head & chuckle through out the book (and series). I love them so much & wish I could just live in the book with them. This is definitely a must read book & series!

How can you go wrong with a visit to stay with Mammi and Dawdi until Spring or so? Martha Sue was ready to leave Ohio and Yost for a while. Helping Mammi do the cooking and Dawdi with the chores will be a blessing. Soon after getting off the bus, Martha Sue had a notion she was here to be Dawdi and Mammi's next grandchild to find her match on Huckleberry Hill! Martha Sue was not happy with this realization but would stay to help and talk with them. She was not getting married to anyone.

There are often emotions to think about during a story such as the power of words and feelings, friendships and trust misunderstandings and some people just don't get it!!

If you have read any of the books in the Huckleberry Hill Series, you know you are in for an exciting good read!

I just reviewed Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill by Jennifer Beckstrand. #SecondChancesonHuckleberryHill #NetGalley
