Delightfully twisted. Twistwood Tales by AC Macdonald is a collection of short comics with an overarching plot. They provide a beautiful color pallet and a sardonic wit to please any reader. And some of the strips are even quite touching (one or two even moved me nearly to tears).

A fun webcomic with a wide range of characters. I love when comics are set up to be a quick, four section joke, but we still see returning storylines within them. Highly reccomend if you like re-imagined fairytales or "Over the Garden Wall" vibes

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a review!

This book is just utterly delightful. I did not really know what I was getting myself into when I chose it, as I was expecting a classic linear graphic novel, however, this is so much more. Twistwood Tales is a collection of 93 different short tales that feature a wide variety of the residents of Twistwood, a fantastical forest filled with interesting creatures. Some of the stories are connected with reoccurring characters and continuing plotlines, and some of them are not, but each and every one of them is wonderful. I was mostly surprised by the mix of tones in the tales, there was humor, warmth, introspection, and occasionally a tinge of creepiness. When combined with beautiful artwork and creative characters, it creates an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this book and I can definitely see myself rereading it multiple times. Also, the addition of the search and find at the end of the book was a nice little extra level of detail and fun that was appreciated.

I probably never would have picked up this book if it hadn’t been on NetGalley, and I wouldn’t have known what I was missing.
I adored this comic book so much. It was adorable, funny, creepy and twisted. This cosy fantasy collection is the perfect read for a slow evening or weekend; I loved following the short adventures of all these quirky characters, I laugh out loud every time the doctor had to “treat” a patient”, I swooned at the cuteness of Bucket Boy with his goggles, I smiled fondly at the scarecrow girl’s obsession and shed a tear for Mr Wolf’s story.
I loved the way all the seemingly independent strips are more and more connected and the world they paint.
Thank you for this delightful moment, I can’t wait to see more.

Algo ligero para leer. Fue interesante ver el cómo las historias se conectaban entre ellas, y como el autor utilizó los personajes de los cuentos clásicos como protagonistas.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an arc of Twistwood Tales in exchange for an honest review! This was an absolute delight to read, whether you’re reading one little tale at a time or binge reading them all at once like I did! Beautifully illustrated and cleverly worded I loved this collection of tales. Ranging from humorous to philosophical I loved the diversity in tales and how they were all interconnected. There were lots of cute lessons to be learned about one’s self as well as friendship and the collection was an overall excellent read. I’ll be sure to get a physical copy once available!

Twistwood Tales, a place for those with a little bit twisted sense of humor.

From page 1 I knew I was going to love this book. The art style is so cozy and cute and it has a mixture of word play humor and some darker humor. I adored the characters and following them along on their journeys in the forest. This will have you giggling on one page and then reads your most anxious thoughts on the next. This was such a great way to see mental health discussed.

I especially felt seen with tale number 60. I highly recommend to anyone who loves a cozy comic and uses sense of humor as a coping mechanism

Thank you toNetGalley for this ARC.

Thank you NetGalley/publisher for providing me this ARC in exchange of my honest review.
I absolutely loved the book. The art and the characters were so adorable. I was captivated by the artwork and the story. The stories were heartwarming and i loved all the life lessons mentioned by the Twistwood creatures. I plan to read more of these little tales on Webtoon.

This was adorable! I really enjoyed the drawings, the style reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes sometimes. The thing I appreciated the most is the subtle melancholy that can be perceived in scenes about delicate themes (social anxiety, depression, mental health, the feeling of not being enough), but also the occasional subtle dark humor (the doctor is amazing lol). I think it portrays the struggle of modern society using a fantastic setting with slightly weird fairy-tale characters that somehow we happen to find relatable. A very pleasant reading for me!

I didn't know what to expect and I wasn't aware it's an ongoing webcomic but I was captivated by the beautiful artwork. It follows the inhabitants of Twistwood and how they navigate life while demonstrating beautiful life lessons in a way kids too would understand. One of my favorites was: "The thing is life always plays it's part when you aim for something. That's just how life is! So we plan accordingly".
The creatures were absolutely lovely, my favorites being the adorable Bucket Boy and the too relatable Loghead.
I can't wait to read more of their little adventures!

I'm not sure I can express how much I delight in reading the Twistwood Tales! These comics are funny, insightful, adorable, and exactly what I needed! I caught myself saying "oh my God, this is so freaking cute" out loud too many times to count! The characters range from incredibly sweet (Bucket Boy) to hilariously inept (the Doctor) in the very best way possible. Please do yourself a favor and read this book, then send it to everyone you know! I know I will be!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fun read! It is a collection of comics with various characters from fairy tales you might already know to buckets, logs, potato! I enjoyed many of the short stories, they are sometimes sweet with a tale of friendship, sometimes a little dark and mostly funny. I marked some of my favourite ones
The illustration style is cute and i liked the colors that give fall vibe.

Recommend to people who like puns, sarcasm and a little dark twist to their fairy tales

Twistwood Tales is so much fun! I love the mixture of short wholesome and sarcastic comics mixed with the larger story that connects the characters. The illustrations were whimsical and perfect for a rainy autumn day. The humor is appropriate for kids while still appealing to adults. I can't wait for this to be released so I can share it with my comic book club :)

Long live Bucket Boy!

This is an interesting one.
Most of the comics have a small twist at the end (hence the name Twistwood Tales), but I felt as if it sometimes got lost a bit.
There are a couple outstanding little comics, but, for me, way more slightly boring ones.
Log Head was definitely my favorite, their existential crises were well done in the limited amount of frames you have.

I really hoped I could appreciate this book more but it simply wasn't my cup of tea.
The whole book is a series of short episodes (one/two pages long) where fantasy is mixed with sarcasm. So, expecially from my personal point of view, it could have been great but for some reasons I wasn't intrigued and all I felt was boredom. I haven't developed interest for any character; maybe it depends on the fact that there isn't a proper plot and each story seems separate from the one before/after.
In other words, this book it's not bad (I'm quite sure someone else is going to really enjoy it) but it wasn't unforgettable. It's like when you close a book and nothing of it remain with you, time few days and you don't even remember it.

This graphic novel was super cute. I liked all the characters and thought the little adventures were super fun. I liked the art style as well, and I would definitely recommend it. It was a cute, quick read.

Each page is filled with a hysterical, and insightful tale about the inhabitants of Twistwood. A town so weird, it's almost normal.
I was expecting a full length story when I started reading Twistwood Tales, but to my pleasant surprise it was a collection of short stories that interlocked with each other gradually. The characters we adorable, I personally loved the plague doctor. Filled with dry, borderline morbid, the humor will appeal to a niche group of people. However, those are the type of people you want to be hanging out with. For all the quirks, they have big hearts, just like the characters in Twistwood.
I will be purchasing a copy of this for the library. A lot of my kids have this type of humor.
